The Druids ancient inauguration ceremonies at the Hill of Tara's Royal Grove was preserved in the Great Book of Lecan ( Leabhar (Mór) Leacain). This medieval Celtic manuscript was written between 1397 and 1418 at Enniscrone in Tireagh, it was commissioned by Tadhg Riabhach O Dubhda. It has been preserved at the Royal Irish Academy. The Great Book of Lecan should not be confused with the Yellow Book of Lecan, which is an earlier and more complete manuscript.

The "Mound of the Hostages" is a megalithic 'passage tomb' and is the oldest monument on the hill of Tara, dating to about 2,500BC. The name "Mound of the Hostages" derives from the custom of overkings like those at Tara retaining important personages from subject kingdoms to ensure their submission.
One of the legendary kings of Tara was named Niall of the Nine Hostages in recognition of the fact that he held hostages from all the provinces of Ireland and from Britain.
Sitting on top of the King's Seat (Forradh) of Temair is the most famous of Tara's monuments - Ireland's ancient coronation stone - the Lia Fail or "Stone of Destiny", which was brought here according to mythology by the godlike people, the Tuatha Dé Danann, as one of their sacred objects. It was said to roar when touched by the rightful king of Tara.
The Hill of Tara, known as Temair in gaeilge, was once the ancient seat of power in Ireland 142 kings are said to have reigned there in prehistoric and historic times. In ancient Irish religion and mythology Temair was the sacred place of dwelling for the gods, and was the entrance to the otherworld. Saint Patrick is said to have come to Tara to confront the ancient religion of the pagans at its most powerful site
This Druid Poem was spoken in Gaelic and was originally posted in AD (THE DRUID TALE) I am the moon, who guards your dreams with care,...And I'm also the sun, who keeps you warm....When happy, I'm the soft breeze through your hair,...But when angry, beware; I am the storm....I am Nature; thus, I am everywhere:...
The proudest rock of the highest mountain;...The liveliest leaps of the tiny hare;...The coolest splash of a river's fountain.... I am a Mother; the milk of my breast is the rain that nurtures the farmer's field....My guilt is the snow's flakes, tenderly dressed...To cover the fallows and keep them sealed
I have given birth to each blade of grass...And guided the paths of each new flower....I bring sleep to souls when it's time to pass...From Lifes minute to Eternity's hour....Th's world is my cradle... treat it with care,...And it will sustain you all of your days...With rain for abundant harvest to share,... a moon's gentle beam, and a sun's bright rays

Agreed, the roads not too pervasive at all, it seems. Ironically, I can't believe that there's houses built so close to the hill in fact. I could be wrong here, but in a strange sort of way the new road may bring more people to the Hill (Maybe the giovernment can put a toll on entry to the hill??)
yea the funny thing about the road is it goes round the hill rather than through it, contrary to what the protesters would have you believe tara is pretty much intact, it just has another road near it nothing to cry about in my opinion.
I have no idea about any of the latest news about Tara, but I sincerely hope that this continuing destruction of not only Ireland's heritage, but of England's too, shall stop. The Locusts who fly from place to place destroying our environment for money must be brought to account.
The highkings did nothing less than fight amongst themselves, enrich their own pockets and in doing so allow the English invade Ireland.
Might be best to stick to the point about the M3 instead of tieing everything together as if it's a conspiracy. Your hearts in the right place but your facts are a little abiguous.
I'm just going to go off now and talk to the fairies, leprechauns and magical little elves; i'm going to live in a castle in the clouds and move from place to place in my invsisible dream powered car...
Get a life Miss! Ireland cannot live in the dark ages! The population expands, therefore so does infrastructure!
WAKE UP IRELAND the goverment are taking away our history . TARA yes its older than the pyramids.would you knock them down? SO WAKE UP IRELAND and let your voice be heard its your right don't let them take it.stop it now.
your ancestors were crowned king there, and mine built the ark get a life ya hippie. if want to live in the past and stop progress stick your head up your ar@e and see what you eat last week
oh well i think this woman is lovely and shes talking her walk , which cant be said for flapper keep up the good work in your ireland. you are up against many fools and multi national corperations keep fighting. kia kaha from aotearoa n.z
are you certain you dont work for the goverment little shits in n.z broke you as a teacher, and now you are a part time hack who cant protect his culture i am impressed.ohh your spelling for a teacher is not great.
at least this woman stands up for what she beleives which is more than i can say for you you mainstream road builder, fucked if id want to sell out my ancestors, you would though ill give you ten bucks for your great grandma.
so im a road builder, thats news to me. i work for DUCAS which is an organisation created to protect the countries national tresures. the difference between me and people like you is i know what im talkin about. i live 3 miles from tara and know the route the new road is taking will be further away than the existing road and WILL NOT impact on tara. so quit mailing people about things you know nothin about.
Do you mean Dúchas??? Wow didn't anyone at work let you know??? Dúchas was abolished in 2003 and all it's functions handed over to the care of Dept.of the Environment & Heritage headed by Minister Martin Cullen (by 2004 he was Minister of Transport btw). If you live 3miles from Tara then you will probably realise that Tara isn't just a hill...it's complex covers a much wider area encompassing many ancient sites.
I'm well aware what tara is and what tara needs. it doesn't need a bunch of crusties jumping on the next band wagon, between the war in iraq and the Olympic flame route demonstrations. it needs a motorway. if the romans can accept a road either side of the coliseum, then we must accept a road thru tara.
I am not anti-road.....I am anti-route. The m3 didn't have to go thru the Gabhra valley. It could have gone to the west and avoided the shameful destruction of Baronstown 4000yr old burialground, the Lismullin henge and souterrains and most recently the damage to the national monument at Rath Lugh. Updates available at the save tara and tarapixie site.
so now you are standing up for sacred ireland about time you got of ya arse, the irish have to stop selling there potatoes so cheaply or else there will be famine.
government agents LOL. please dont comment on what you read on Eire or any other country while living in the ass hole of the world. iv worked as a teacher in rosehill college in papakura, so i was spelling to suit you education system...
Fantastic keep up the good work. Don't give up the fight for Tara and other ancient sites of massive social, archaeological, spiritual, historical and global importance..

Eventually somebody took the time to focus on the main questions in a good sound quality...
I hope you can put up more video material on Tara and its area as well...
