@Lipici2006 it's 1-2-3,2-2-3,3-2-3,4-2-3. To keep the time you are, you change the first number when you count, so it is easily to know when you start again.

The waltz was given a tremendous boost around 1830 by two great Austrian composers: Franz Lanner and Hohann Strauss. These two composers wer by far the most popular during the 19th cent.

By 1900, a typical dance program was 3 quarter waltzes the the remaining quarter all other dances combined.

Dear, there are American Waltzes and Vienneese. The later one is faster, but always keeping 3/4 in the music.

@Tibursia84 to be a little more precise, Slow or English Waltzes are played at 28-31 bars a minute while the Viennese is played at double the speed, namely 58-60 bars per minutes
