  • We learned it from watching the Dog Whisperer on t.v.! Start with a slow speed and LOTS of encouragment. I got down in front of her and cheered her on and she soon did it without the leash. Hope this helps! P.J. LOVES to do it - it gets her loads of attention!

  • First of all your sheltie Looks so cute! :D I have a sheltie named Lassie. Typical. But what i'm interested in is how did you get your dog to do that? She looks so happy! Please tell me your secrets and how you trained her. Unlike my dog... She just sits there. Look on my page for my dog just sitting on the treadmill if you must.

  • Beautiful dog so cute!!

  • Ahahahhahahah Great sheltie!!!!

  • happy sheltie is happy

  • haha whenever he hears the owner calls her name she goes faster and faster lol!

  • I guess that's the definition of a herding dog that loves to please his owners

  • Not sure which is going faster, her feet or the tail when she hears her name!

  • Hi, did you have anyh issue whith the dogpooping when it runs on the machine. My old dog (cattle dog) does and always has done great. My new dog (6 month old Airedale) runs for like 30 seconds and he could have just gone, 30 seconds on the treadmill and like a shot gun itshoots out, then clean it up pitch him out to finish and he does. Put him back on it, 10 minutes later he poops on it again. Then after that he can do it. Is this gonna stop?????

  • Actually - yes! She did have the issue! The first time I videod her that's what happened. Once she does it though, she's good to run for as long as you'll let her.

  • @14redoak

Did this problem ever go away? You figure anyway to help prevent it?

Thanks so much for your help, at-least I'm not the only one :-)

  • haha, when you call her name there's no way that treadmill is gonna keep up! That's so darned cute! I wish I could be that happy when I'm exercising!

  • i should teach my sheltie to do that... he has so much energy, even after you play with him for an hour

  • aww!

    she's absolutely adorable!

i wish i could get my dog to do that, but she's more of a "i'd rather eat than run on a treadmill" kind of dog.haha

  • So cute! I do that with my sheltie, too! P.J.'s better at it, though... Einstein has to wear a leash, or he gets confused at why the ground is moving, lol. It's hilarious to walk in the room with food while he's at it... He gets completely distracted and falls off the end of the treadmill.

  • lol i love how she gets all excited when you call her name and then she runs faster. How did you get her to do that?

  • ha ha ha I love dogs! they are so funny!

  • mine wont even step onto the treadmill. was yours scared at first? how did you do it?

  • She was scared at first, but she loves the attention!!! Now she can't wait to do it! We got the idea from watching Cesar Millan the Dog Whisperer!

  • So, when's PJ making her debut at class?

  • Great workout, if I could only last that long on the treadmill...Way to go PJ!

  • P.J. Rocks! I like how she gets all excited when she hears her name. You can actually see her smile! Why does that not surprise me! What a great dog!!!
