@0509killer When I saw them on the Synchronicity tour with The Fixx here in Knoxville he REPEATEDLY busted snare heads...the roadie would snatch the burst one out and whip in a new one in with nary a beat missed.
This band fills up the space around Stewart's beats very nicely. It doesn't sound like the vocals are in English. I'm curious what language it is unless I just cannot make out the lyrics. Oh well, love this jam... great audio too.
Copeland is good, he just seems to work so hard though...seems like he needs to figure out how to conserve his energy; stuff he does on the kit doesn't require this much physical effort. Watch Gadd work his magic...even JoJo Mayer who is so dynamic and physical knows how and where to conserve energy, especially in his drum-n-bass work. I grew up idolizing Copeland and Peart, but as I studied more, I sort of left them behind.
@AlexMPruteanu Nah, man. You got it all wrong. He's just really into it. I'm sure you've seen Bonham play. He made drumming look like a blood sport. Copeland as well. He just getting the most out of his kit while being really in tune with the music.
I think Stewart said in an interview that nowadays he started to appreciate simplicity because in the end what matters is not how good you are soloing and what new tricks you can do, but to make music (sounds cliche but it's true). I think that's what he tries to convey. Learn how to maintain a simple groove for 5 minutes.
@FurlanPaolo When I met Stewart I told him "you redefine how to play the hi-hat". He just laughed as he signed my Zenyatta Mondatta CD cover. He also shook my hand, his grip is so strong that it actually hurt a bit!
@BuddhaTrixie Hahaha i know i have the first three game soundtracks. I just didn't expect him to write a full band piece for the blowhard level's track
@afheadra look, drumming doesnt have to be fast to be good, just play a simple groove maybe pull a creative twist here and there, then you got some aweshumness :)
@VirusMan254 If you'll play it it won't be the same as this like the same technique for example stewart's technique is really great so you can't say it's easy.... but it is very nice to listen to!
I saw this live got a drumstick from him

He plays simply, but with so much gusto. It's great. He just has a new approach. - Neil Peart on when he first heard Stewart Copeland.
