Despite religion, the US population is according to polls warming to support for gay marriage, adoption and the aboliton of "don't ask, don't tell" meaning that gay people could serve their country openly. I'm not complaining, what I want to happen is happening, what do I have to complain about? Start with civil unions as it has in the UK, and then marriage. The fact that prop 8 passed is completely irrelevant in this. A few quick things cause I know nothing is going to change your mind.
The problem with prop 8 is that it is using a majority to take away the rights of a minority, that is essentially what the bill did and there is no denying it. You are saying this minority is not allowed to do a certain thing that everyone else can because we don't approve. It is those exact abuses of power that the constitution is suppose to prevent.

Despite religion, the US population is according to polls warming to support for gay marriage, adoption and the aboliton of "don't ask, don't tell" meaning that gay people could serve their country openly. I'm not complaining, what I want to happen is happening, what do I have to complain about? Start with civil unions as it has in the UK, and then marriage. Eventually we will be all be able to share in the same rights, and generations ahead of us will laugh that it was ever even an issue.

The fact that prop 8 passed is completely irrelevant in this. A few quick things cause I know nothing is going to change your mind.
The problem with prop 8 is that it is using a majority to take away the rights of a minority, that is essentially what the bill did and there is no denying it. You are saying this minority is not allowed to do a certain thing that everyone else can because we don't approve. It is those exact abuses of power that the constitution is suppose to prevent.

Im gonna guess you were brought up with the one world brainwashed upbringing? Global warming is a scam and all fools who donate money to it are making Al Gore richer. -it went against providing equal rights to all citizens.
-the majority was aloud to vote on the rights of the minority.

Ok everyone I am a Mormon and voted yes on Prop 8, and I am telling you this guy is wrong and an idiot. He does not represent me or my fellow Christians. I have a gay cousin whom I love very much, and him to have a happy life. I also want Christian Doctors who feel it to be immoral to Artificially inseminate a gay couple to be protected from getting sued for their beliefs. So please, try to refrain from stereotyping religions and those who voted yes on prop 8. Thank you for understanding.

First of all, let me thank you for being more civil than others in your explanation. I agree that the person speaking is overstepping his bounds and obviously does not know that Hitler himself used the Bible to justify the killing of many many people.
I voted no because I would like to see my gay friends and the members of my family who are gay to be happy. I would like to see my lesbian friend, who grew up in Catholic school with me be able to practice her religion through marriage.
