If it wasn't for non biker types buying HDs, the brand would never have made it. It is a two-edged sword, should you be disgusted or beholding? By the way, I've heard DAC claim he showed up on foot, hitching, driving, riding... He can tailor a story to any situation. This has, at times made him more interesting and on the other hand made people doubt everything he ever said. I guess that is why he is such a polarizing figure.

Well, I spent my life fixing POS motorcycles. It wasn't until 7 or 8 years ago that I could afford a Harley and even then it was a lowly Sportster - you know a "girls bike". When I was a kid it wasn't one. It was what me and my friends dreamed of. My first real one was a Bridgestone 200 and I rode that thing from NY to Boston to Virginia. Me, I wish I could afford a big hog and to have it serviced at the dealer.

I never understood why a Sportster is referred to as a Girls Bike. Ive owned several Harleys including a Sportster. If you go to any Harley drags, you will see more Sportsters than any other Harley. My son rides a 2000 1200 Sportster and I ride a 2000 Softail. He can take through the first 3 gears but I blow by him once we get up to about 80 MPH.
