  • if you really stuck and get out just use the call button

  • Ever find it funny stien in stienburg is germin and it is a jewish hospital.

  • I hate Otis Doors of this vintage.... The pickup/lock assembly has about three times the moving parts as your Monty's, Dover's, or Westy's. Plus, they're hyper-sensitive if something (such as a cart) bumps the outside door and knocks them out of alignment. I'd venture a guess that scrape you heard on the way up was a bent pickup roller that knocked soemthing out of alignment on the cab side of the door.

  • rare... I

    m the 60,800th viewer

  • lol

  • IS this guy an engineer or something wtf is his problem with elevators?

  • this elevator is broke...now watch me get in it.

  • This is the dumbest video I've ever seen on youtube. Just sooo gay. Why can't you just leave the elevator alone and take the stairs. Come on. That kinda thing just gets me sick of human beings.

  • @DiogoS90 LOL come on we all like watching the cazy old jews play with the elevators.

  • @DiogoS90 not being mean but if its dumb and sooo gay why watch it LOL

  • When I was a kid in the 50s, my grandparents lived in a building with a pair of Otis elevators just like these, only they had manual swing outer doors. The floor indicators in those little windows between the buttons had a wheel with the numbers printed on it. They jerked as they moved and did not display evenly in the window. This looks like a budget modernization. A little scary to have lifts this unreliable in a hospital.

  • Epic fail

  • Kewl elevator!

  • 3:10-It looks like a Christmas tree.

  • glad they had a fire escape

  • it is normal in our house, but it is thyssen D:

  • Scary

  • What was the noise that happened

  • I have been in the same situation and it was weird.

    But it was a Schindler.

  • not to sound rude but who frkin plays with elevator buttons?! god

  • We Are Not Stuck Here U Are Sir.

  • your lucky you didnt get stuck in the middle of the shaft very lucky!

  • the door opan

  • Who got a hold of it (PLEASE REPLY)

  • lol u sound scared... were you?

  • This is the shit that made me scared of elevators!!

  • ok i hat the new youtube so many fucking avertisements

  • oh wow! are you Nicolas Cage?

  • just get out and go to the other elevator.

  • Obviously, there are stairs ! If a building with elevators but wihthout stairs exists, please invite me. It's mandatory to have stairs, firstly in case of fire, for the evacuation, but also in case of power outage (except if the elevators can work without electricity) or also for the people who have the elevator phobia ! So, if you want to take the stairs instead of the elevator, in any building, even in a high-rise tower, YOU CAN !

  • @paul9511 The door said "FIRE DOOR" and I'm guessing he was afraid that the door had an alarm. Although an emergency exit door alarm is a local alarm, and using it because the elevator is broken most likely isn't going to get you in trouble. If an employee knows about the elevator being out of order, however, he/she should disable the alarm on the stairway door to avoid disturbing everyone every time someone enters or leaves.

  • @dickcheney6 There was no alarm, otherwise there is also a sign "emergency exit only Alarm will sound" or similar. Also, watch at 0:28 (the lift door is closing), you'll see the stairway door on background, and on it, there is no "FIRE DOOR" sign, but just a "STAIRS" sign, and another one on the wall, left to the door. Obviously, it means the stairs can be normally used, just like the elevator. But on unused floors, such as basement or penthouse, there are brown doors and "FIRE DOOR" signs.

  • the otis penus 0:07

  • why did u end up like that with the camera?

  • just fucking walk lol xD

  • And what do you fucking do? Jam all the buttons in

  • If the door is opening, your not stuck, what are you a hamster going thru a maze with one turn?

  • Dieselducy hates stairs.that's why he takes elevators

  • they never work!

  • Comment removed

  • don't complain about the fact that you stuck at the penthouse floor. Just accept the situation! Shit happens.. so there't no need to record that and comment the situation in the video all the time..

  • Ok Never Panic

I have Been in this Situation and It Suked me and mi friends Got stuck in there for Mostly 3 Hours and and Mi friends are Like Bi-Polar n never Panic thats wat mi mom said what did we do Panic...........we Yelled N Screamed and kicked the doors to get the H3ll Out it was Horrible.....

  • @briebunny3 where did yall get stuck..

  • @dieselducy Its was a Pentagon City Inside the Mall!!!!

  • @dieselducy The left hand side lift was working perfectly until it got to the PH level then it didn't go down i wonder why that is

  • @dieselducy why did you panic anyway? look you coulduv got out of the elevator and go through the fire ecscape!!!

  • @dieselducy atleast there a doors open button

  • @dieselducy what the ph button stand for and how do you get stuck on the elevator

  • @dieselducy this is really bad

  • @dieselducy Why you not go in other elevator ;)))

  • Epic fail

  • There was another elevator when you were stuck in the PH why didn't you use that one :P was it working?

  • maybe if the stop switch had been pulled, and then pushed back into "run" it would have reset it? (I would do that with the door open though, just in case)

  • Sweet Video!! 5 stars!

  • "It does work!"と驚いているところがもうすでに怖いっす(^^;)

    でも出られてよかったね。

  • You shouldn't click more buttons than you have to, as this creates a buffer overflow, and makes the situation worse. Think of an Otis elevator like a Windows PC that is not responding. :P

  • Theres gotta be a stair well what if theres a fire

  • @Rocktecho It said "fire door" on it so it may have looked like something that would set off an alarm.

  • was otis the ones who modernized it if not its an epic fail of whoever modrnized it i think unless it has the original otis controller

  • I saw an epic fail on a shindler elevator at cornell wheel hospital in NYC we got of the elevator on the 14 floor and the other elevator opened an the elevator was stuck in the shaft

  • this happened to me in the victoria centre in nottingham

  • You got into an elevator knowing it was faulty and then get all panicky when it goes wrong ?????

Why not take up train spotting the view is better than most elevator interiors.

  • Is the Otis elevator fixed yet ?

  • That's one nice EPCO Controller!!

  • @cannycart It's relay controlled

  • Use the phone for fuck's sake.

  • If the elevator was stuck have you tried going on the service elevator , is there a service elevator or just Otis elevators and stairs ? Just next time be careful don't get stuck in the elevator next time bring your cell phone with you .

  • Oh no pleas try not going on it a-gain.

  • Shouldn't update for safety checks properly made a improvement works in the future. How unfortunately, there left elevator has stuck at the top floor!

  • some elevators may be a little bit annoying like this,so watch out!!!!

  • one time we were at a hospital and there were old otis black buttons, the elevator worked fine the first time, then we were on 5 and tried to go back down, but it did the same thing this one did

  • @patricknedz this elev used to have black buttons.

  • @dieselducy I wonder why the left hand elevator wouldn`t go down when you were at the penthouse

  • Why didn't he use 16N at the penthouse?

  • you seem to get stuck in a lot of elevators, I love your vid when you're stuck in the one in Roanoke xD

  • why didn't you push the phone button?

  • I love your videos dieselducy- pointless but very educational!

  • who got a hold of the elevators and changed the call buttons?

  • btw brave of u to go back in elev

  • gasp otis would never do that

  • at least you dident get fully stuck

  • Looks like doors not locking fully!!

  • You expect this from maybe a dover and definately a Schindler but not an otis. If you go to the main page that you found this video on. There is basically only this video about a broken otis lift. But if you search for a broken dover or a Schindler. Millions of videos come up. Also only the good hotels own Otis lifts

  • hi andrew it's sarah

  • hi sarah!!

  • hi andrew im khalil the owner of techywatcher. techywatcher got banned.

  • who is sarah? There is a girl named sarah at my school. Between you and me she likes me and i like her back> Not LOVE!!! like.

  • Who is sarah? All i know is that a girl at my school is named Sarah, and she likes me! =D

  • @dieselducy who is Sarah?

  • @clarkloveselevators girlfriend! ahah

  • you so dare whenever stuck at penthouse....

  • No! Not an Otis!

  • lol i got stuck in both a otis and a dover. elevator and the call button didnt work

  • i had a northern at a hospital parking deck in Toronto do the same thing but it let me push the button and call the other one

  • I agree with the discription"this is the kind of behavior I would expect from a new Shiendler or maybe a dover"

  • Judging by those chimes MontgomeryKONE might have modernized this.

  • i dont think montgomery kone modernized them they could have but these are Epco fixtures i have rode a D.C. elevator with the same chime and it has epco fixtures i dont know if you have every heard of them or not

  • Yes i know that. These are actually Adams fixtures (The Decor series I believe) but EPCO resells them as WN Signature Fixtures. They're the same thing, but EPCO did not design them. They may be resold that way because Schindler owns both EPCO and Adams.

  • that elevator thats a D.C. that i told you about is at a hospital two towns over from me it has a few D.C.'s and some dovers that i know of when i get a chance i hope to film all the elevators at that hospital

  • 2 things:

first, you sounded scared when you were stuck, why??

second, for a hospital, this seemed an abandoned place, very little activity!

  • I don't think 3:34 was the fire escape, what was that thing? It looked wierd it looked like a door that could set the fire alarm off.

  • yeah the clunk probably caused the doorlock to break therefore the elevator (as dieselducy experienced) wouldn't move. by the way dieselducy, how old is this elevator?

  • the hotel is the Hilton garden inn in champaign ill.

  • one summer i was working for an electrical contractor and we where doing a renovation job on a hotel for hilton and elevators were otis elevators and they where constantly getting stuck so we would have to go to the very top of the shaft and reset the elevator by turning off and on the circuit breakers.

  • As you were going up to the penthouse, I noticed that clunk. I think the doorlock on that lift broke as a result ("oohhh that's not good"). Anyway, keep up the vids!

  • i dont know everything about elevators but i do know alot of the companys and names to some parts that are on the elevator and can tell whether or not if thier traction or hydraulic but i dont know that much about doorlocks but the thing that happened to that one elevator in the video the one that got stuck could doorlock stop it from going down or was that what caused the clunk

  • Looks like just after you got out of the elevator up at the penthouse it started working because the lantern went out and the display did not show penthouse (in the hallway on the 9th floor after you took the stairs).

  • ooh, no stair well, dun, dun, dun...

  • u dumbass why not get out wen it was open

  • you're rude, he tried a few things like slaming the door, he tried a few things, no need to be grouchy.

  • what a complainer! shouldn't have been talking shit about the elevator when you got on!

it would've been funnier if the stairs just kept looping to the penthouse! not possible but still funny...

  • Augh. Totol controller screw up. Come on OTIS!

  • EPCO or Innovation fixtures?

  • Thank goodness there was a water fountain you could have dehydrated and your body would have been found in the fetal position down in the fourth floor stairwell.. Now that would be a video worth posting unlike this retarded bullshit.. get a life.. I wanna see you post a video on stairs next time you fat sack of shit learn more about them because you need to work on life, right now it seems like you're failing miserably!

  • you look the same buddy, if you have nothing better to do than criticize videos that are better than yours, well at least he makes videos..... lay off ok?

  • Looks like the hall door isn't locking.

  • Yea, that happens to the one at my school alot.

  • What's the brand of the elevator?

  • It was most likely a Dover at my school,

  • you say this was the 3rd time you had an elevator problem what was the other one i know about this one and the dover are you both rides of the dover each as one elevator problem/issue this past week

  • This what pretty much happend to me down in Memphis. Good thing you were able to get off the elevator.

  • i have rode an otis with these fixtures just a different floor indicator except the elevator had been modernized by D C elevator company and it had a PH level to but PH was locked

  • Epic fail.

  • That's weird that it wouldn't move.

  • I don't think using the alarm was really necessary since you were not trapped inside the car and may have only worked against you had anyone come to your assistance. The car may have gone out of service. So much for a Penthouse. At least you were able to get out and use the stairs to get off that floor.

  • was this Barnes hospital?

  • Yes it was. in the Jewish hospital part..

  • I aggree with jimster586 (below):

The Elevator Gods are probably trying to tell you something. Perhaps you should try the "Man-Powered" ones. :D

  • I'm beginning to think that the elevators are trying to tell you something. Perhaps it's time for a new hobby? :-) (Just kidding!)

  • That happened to me in Las Vegas.

  • damn vegas i plan to visit myrtle beach in a few years and stay at THE PALACE

  • dang, at least you weren't stuck in it like the Dover parking garage one!

did you tell management or security?

  • I'm guessing slamming the door usually works? What does it do, make sure the sensor gets the "closed door" signal, or what?

  • Exactly. The elevator in my dorm sometimes had to have this done..

  • Oh, ok. Ill keep that trick in mind in case i ever need to.

  • it locks it

cos in that video the door wasant locking propaly

so slamming the door might lock it :-)
