I have a Golden Marlin 39A Mountie. It was my grandfather's, then my father's, now it's mine. I feel no need to ever own another .22 rifle, and one day, it will be my son or daughter's. I have been told it's the finest .22 rifle ever made, and I can't find any reason to disagree.
@horsefly4 yea, mine came with the mount. there are 4 screws above the action that come out, and then the mount goes on top of that. It also comes with 4 longer screws to go through the mount and then engage the threads in the gun. pretty self explanitory once you see it. be sure to save the short screws in case you want the scope to come off though.
I've been wanting to buy a .22 lever gun for years! Besides having to save up the money, the only other thing stopping me was that I had no idea how I would properly clean it! Now I know which rifle I'm going to get. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for taking the time. Another way to separate the 2 parts after unscrewing the main screw is to lay the rifle on it's left side, push down with your right hand on the barrel and use your left hand to lift at the lever up and back. It comes apart very smoothly and avoids having to hit the barrel on anything.
Thanks for the video :) i have a Golden 39A 30+ years old and have never had a problem with it :) my brother could pitch up (about 20' high) quarter size rocks and hit'em 8 out of 10 times all day long :) it needs a good cleaning and this will help :) Thanks
Very good video. I just wanted to clarify one thing....22's don't shoot black powder, they shoot smokeless powder, I believe what you are calling "black powder" is what is called fouling.
BTW: When I disassembled my gun for cleaning, I tried using the takedown screw to assemble it again per the video- it caught hold of the left half and brought it in toward the right half of the receiver ok, but I was afraid to put any more pressure into screwing in the takedown screw further, so I backed it back out, used a rubber hammer to tap the two sides further together, and then started on the takedown screw again. Now I was able to get it together all the way. Probably just tight.
Ah!! I just reread the instruction booklet that came with the rifle and I see that I made a mistake when I said the instructions say not to use the takedown screw to get the receiver back together- it does NOT say that, it simply says to get the two halves flat against each other and tighten up the take-down screw. Well, I don't know what is the matter with me! At any rate, the video was a big help. I may buy a 2nd one of these rifles, I like this one that much.
Tucker; Thanks so much for adding the last part (reassembly); I had to laugh at myself after seeing how you did it, because I really wanted to try that when I had it apart the last time, thinking "maybe if I used the screw to pull it together-nah, I thought, better not, cause the manual says not to do it". But there you are in the video doing just that and it works and slid together for you. Great! Thanks again and I appreciate your help!
great help from you. One more question. Is it posible to screw down ejector prior the rifle takedown? Mean, can I open bolt with lever, screw down ejector and disassemble Marlin? One more time: thanks for reshooting that video.
Thanks! Nice clear description!

when loosening the take down screw i always found using a coin was the easiest way ,also handy when you may not have access to a screwdriver

i have one of these new 39a's comming and im thinking about
mounting a Simmons Mag 22 scope on it. i'm not sure if i need a
scope base though..on marlin website it sais that
All Marlin 39's are shipped with scope mount from the factory.
is this true? did yours come with the extra part to mount a scope?

@SpikenAL Yes! The accuracy on this little rifle is amazing. Hitting small rocks... that's an amazing rifle and an amazing shooter.

@sajlok It looks like you can do it, but I don't see an advantage to doing that first.
