  • Great rendition but not the original soundtrack conducted by the maestro himself.

The motion picture is a classic.

  • Wow!

    Luv ya babe!!

  • Before there was a John Williams, there was the one and only Bernard Herrman.

  • @mierpaul B. Herrman, IMO, has exceeded J. Williams, as he is entirely more complicated!

  • Has anyone ever been shipwrecked on a Mysterious Island?

  • @cro499

Does Long Island count? It is a terminal moraine.

  • One of my favorite film scores. Great selections. Thanks for posting.

  • Imagining being ten years old again and begging Dad to let me stay and see it ONE MORE TIME... on the Big Screen!

  • Parts of this composition were never actually heard in the completed film...I sure don't remember some of the music around 3:00 to 4:30..and I have the motion picture on DVD. This must be one of the special composed 'suites' from the updated CD soundtrack release. They included extra music in another of Herrmann's soundtrack albums, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1959).

  • Mr. Hermann was influenced by Sibelius in my humble opinion.

  • "Hungry men dont ask. They take" .

  • @123crossbow, that line was from "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad", another great film with a memorable score by Herrmann.

  • a brilliant and mesmerizing compilation of Adventure and Intrigue...thankyou for posting this!

  • Did they not use this soundtrack for the background music of The Primeval World at Disneyland?

  • @hectoracevedo73 Yes they did(:

  • If Herrmann was born several hundred years earlier many, many of his film compositions would indeed be classified as great symphonies.
