I once read or heard that the singer was pregnant in 8 or 9 months when she recorded the song, and this gave the concept of the video. I always pictured that she wrote the lyrics as she found out that she was pregnant. I also think that the song gives a mix of happiness and anxiety, as pregnant women realize that this is the beginning of something important that would change their lives.I don't think that the song was written as an anti-abortion theme, it kinda became that later

@SparkleSimba"you may be right of course" and this video could mean a lot of different things to a variety of people like buddhist that believe in reincarnation, and so on and so forth but I would never concede to that, not because I'm "close-minded" but because I'm so sure of it that I would bet my life. i think there is a metaphor with the word 'feather'. i think it can be the little things flying inside the placenta (forgot the name) and the ashes and she sings "teardrop on the fire", this last one must simbolize the death.

'black flower blossom' must simbolize death too. just my opinion...
