  • @CAMNZ117 Im not starling sailor, but i think it depends on how seriously u are gonna race and how good the opponents are. If u want to win world champions, u should probably think about another class. But ur weight can be advantage, especially if u are not growing anymore. It kinda depends on how windy it is in New Zealand, if its often more than 15knts i dont think ur weight is a probalem

  • @CAMNZ117 I'm probably just about to start sailing a starling, but for your height/weight I'd suggest a Laser with a 4.7 rig. However, the best source of info is at your local sailing club, I'd suggest just hanging around and making friends there. That's what I did, it definitely worked. Have fun sailing!

  • this is in dunededin harbour off Vauxhall Yacht Club. It was about 25 knots gusting 30 knots. The race got cancelled so the more experienced guys headed out anyway
