I think the wrx is great, but limited by weight and aerodynamics. The lotus esprit 4 cylinder can do 170 mph because it has a stock turbo and stock chargecooler, but lighter and aerodynamic. Look at "lotus fast and furious" on youtube

lets put it this way, why are the rates on integra type r's retarded high? because those cars get stolen ALOT, it's a big liability to have one of those on the road not because of their speed but because if you don't have some sort of an alarm on it there's a decent chance it'll get stolen.....the insurance premiums from an 02-03 wrx are less than those from an 04-05 wrx, why? not because kids crash the 04-05's more but because the body styling is different, newer....you get it yet?

Love the cut to the car flying down the road in order to punctuate the painfully slow last few mph getting to top speed. No vehicle in the world tops out quickly anyway - the higher their top speed the longer they can accelerate quickly for longer.

if it is electronically controlled I didn't hit it. The access port might have removed the top speed limiter.

Exactly right, the COBB AP removes the top speed limiter. If I remember right it was 135 with the limiter still on.

I have a question because I have had 3 other subaru owners tell me that replacing the recirculating valve with aftermarket blow-off valve will make your car run rich and you can damage your car and lose performance. Is this true?

Yes it is absolutely true, unless you have a Cobb Access Port or other tuning device. A friend just put an HKS on a his 2010 and now he backfires like crazy. It's probably okay for now as long as he doesn't race, but it needs to be tuned.

I don't know how much the tune would help with a bov. when it blows off it messes up the air fuel ratio, thats what makes it back fire.

The tune can be set so that in quick throttle off situations i.e. shifting the fuel drop off is sharper regardless of what the MAF wants it to be. If COBB still has the free street tuner software available try to snag a copy, you'l see what I mean.

well i got it in 08 so... its not a "real" short throw. its just a shorter handle and some other stuff. can shift faster though. biggest pain in the ass ever to put in.

Get the COBB short throw, you may need to modify the plate that holds the rubber boot down, but it's an awsome dual adjust short throw.

blow off valve was $200. bigger top mount inter-cooler was $800. all the exhaust stuff was around $800 or 1k. intake was $180. access port was $700. i dont know how much the lightened crack pulley was, maybe 25 or 50. short shifter was like $75. its not in this video but i got a carbon fiber hood, that was $500. im prob missing something but i think that's the majority of it.

I'm in the same boat, I opted for a bigger turbo instead of the intake, CF hood and BOV. If you think the short throw was a pain, just wait until you do the turbo! Check out my vids.

If they lose visual contact with you they can't pull you over at a later time and prove it was you driving. So in the instance of the trooper traveling the other way, by the time he slowed down, found a place to turn around and gave chase you could potentially be off one of several exits and have returned to legal driving speeds.
