His technique, creativity and flair for the instrument are all distinctly mediocre (and i would even go as far as sub standard when compared to the likes of Matt and Omar). I never bother reading those "top 100 arsehole arrangers" type thing... music is too subjective for that kinda thing.

Plus they probably put someone really shit like slash as no.1 'cos he wears a funny hat and poses a lot.

@Rahrhino No 1 was jimmy hendrix Omars technique of playing is make the guitar not sound like a guitar as he hates the guitar as an instrument so it would be pretty stupid to coinceder him one of the best like giving employee of the mouth to the guy who hates his job. Matt bellamy technique is only amazing because the modern guitar has died rather in the good old days solo where done for every song. Kirk hammet at his time was unique as at his time shredding was in but he used the wah alot

@ad1170 I would argue that Hendrix tried to make the guitar not sound like a guitar a lot of the time (dive bombs and all that lark). Just pointing out that i think Hammet is massively overrated. I found it quite ironic that at Sonisphere, the morning after Metallica played, Sylosis came on. The lead singer/guitarist (at the time) played stuff that i don't think Hammet could play and was singing at the same time.

Plus a solo should only be included if the song requires it imo.

@Rahrhino jimi's guitar rig was very simple a fuz factory octave and wah pedal is generally all he used and he was passionate which was his strong point about talent and passion kirk is quite the same as when they recorded saint anger he argued for days on the no solo rules despite creating some for it. Also to say just because they can't play this is abit of a bad argument matt and omar couldn't do kirks rifts and i can't do kirks rifts matts are easy omars would be if not so heavily effected

@ad1170 matt's riffs are easy but his playing style is not. He's not a shredder but a lot of muse songs (up to absolution) are hard as nails to play due to weird chord structures and techniques. metallica use power chords. If you are a decent guitarist 6 months of drilling will get you to Kirk's shredding ability. Plus, you may be able to tell that i'm not the biggest Metallica fan :P, but i don't think his playing is half as passionate as matt or omar's. Oh and i'm primarily a metal fan btw :)

Sure thom has similar vocals to Matt and Johnny has similar playing techniques like Matt but that was the style in the 90s. The bends is an extremely influential album. Muse didn't rip it off. They've stated they don't like radiohead and the comparisons between them are an honor but are a little boring. They are two respected bands that may sound similar in a lot of ways but muse never ripped anything off from radiohea
