I have been uo to Scotland many times. I even saw the sun there once. I met many of the inhabitants and killed them. Midges they were called. Ate a few thousand of them over the years too. Great film. Thanks Nathan.
Awesome vids man :) i also have a 125 (Honda Varadero) and planning to head South into France next year - good to see someone else touring on a 125 haha :) loved the kill switch incident :p good job :)
@CakeOfJaffa If you are going all the way south in France you may want to check out Mandelieu-La Napoule. It's fantastic. The sea is like a warm bath. There is a fantastic camp site there called, La Seagull. Worth a look. Great people the further south you go. I hitched it with a friend all the way from Cornwall. Met some great people who put us up in their homes despite us not speaking a word of French. If you are camping, try the sites run by the local councils. Dirt cheap and good.
@CakeOfJaffa You are welcome bro. Hope you videos the trip for us. BTW. Mandelieu-La Napoule is where the French go on holiday to the South of France so it is really cheap and you don't get the rip off tourist prices. Oh yeah, just one downside to the camp sites. Some of their kharzis are UGH. Watch where you put your feet and don't visit in the dark without a torch. Great vids bro.
Like the video. Good to see the day by day updates. I want to do something similar next year maybe ;-). Where are you from? Sounds like an accent local to me...
Great video mate, I lived in the highlands for a year so I know how cold it can get on a bike, the weather is generally shite all year round. It is nice to see that not everyone needs a BMW GS1200 to ride the west coast of Scotland!!
Really amazing videos, very inspiring! I've recently got a nice Suzuki VL Intruder 125, just doing my CBT around now. Live in North-West England, but want to travel back up to Scotland (home) soon. Thank you!
brilliant video, really enjoyed it. I'm taking my cbt test tomorrow 27th sept. Im 42 and have been driving a car for 24 years, riding a bike terrifies me, but i've sold the car and bought a honda vt125.
After seeing you take on that long trip, i am inspired. thankyou.
1000 miles with no experience, through the windy rainy Scottish landscape! Excellent videos mate! Would love to do that myself, Going up from Hampshire would be fun
what a great video that was!! really enjoyed it!! you are a brave man doing all that on a GS? how was the rear sprocket after all those miles? and does the bike still run OK?
@knoxieman Thank you, but I don't think it's about bravery. It doesn't feel like an activity that requires any, it's just enjoyment. The sprocket was fine. Probably the original that came with the bike 20 odd years ago. Just keep oiling, and all is well :)
@svengalie Cheers Sven. Not sure about the next thing. I don't have time for any kind of substantial adventure at the moment, but I might try and do a quick evening under canvass to break in the new bike.
Rather jealous about Europe. I really need to do my bike test!
Nice trip mate, I really want to do something similar in a few years, however I may choose to do it in summer! If you have any advice, as this will be my first bike trip as well, please tell m. It would be much appreciated. Again nice trip and a great vid!
Really good video. I've recently bought myself a YBR125, getting back to biking since my first bike when I was 17and I love it. I regularly take rides out to the Shropshire Hills and last weekend, to Wales. I love the thought of going on a trip with just the essentials strapped to the back of the bike. Have now got the boyfriend booked in for his CBT, and hopefully it means he'll be getting a bike too.Was lovely watching you, you're braver than I am in the rain. I understand you got a room.
Just got my GS125 last week, brilliant little bike, and I'm in the process of planning a trip from the salisburyt to the most northern tip of wales :-)
Fantastic mate I really enjoyed this short film, very inspiring thanks for sharing, im planning my first bike trip to Italy this summer. I just past my direct access last month YAY! :)
loved the vids it just gos to show you dont need a big bike or all the latest kit just the willingness to get out there and explore i used to ride from bournmouth to snowden every weekend on a cz 125 just to spend a day rock climbing then ride back though at present am in the process of doing my das so i can explore europe on a bike more and 60mph is the top speed i can do when i drive for work anyhow )) coch driver by profession enjoy !!
I enjoyed both part 1 and 2. The kill switch was pretty funny. Done that one before too. I've made a few videos myself, so I recognize the massive effort in editing and such. well done!
Great couple of videos. You make a mockery of the guys with 'blades, r1's etc that only do a thousand miles a year, never going more than 30 miles from home !
the first bike I got when I returned to biking, was a GS125. Very reliable little bike it was too. Now I tour on a 900 Yamaha, which just purrs away at 80mph and returns 60mpg.
I think you took getting a soaking very well, I get miserable as sin when I'm wet. So I make sure I've got good protection these days.
Keep on with your adventures and keep filming. Good luck.
Nice one Nathan, great to see your still adventuring and capturing your experiences on film for all to enjoy.
I bought a 70's Yamee 80 with a bald back tire to commute to my first job. That thing brought me across the Pennines in all weathers for a year or so. I remember the terror to this day ;0)
How is the sailing project going? If you every make it across the the north west of Ireland (Sligo), I have a birth for Kudu and a pint waiting.
Dude! You're crazy! I love it! I just watched your "attempt" to sail around Britain videos, and now just finished these two motorbike vids. I've done bit of motorcycle touring myself, so I can relate to much of your experience there (although my bikes have all been between 600-1200cc) . My current goal is to buy and live on a small sailboat (~24-30 feet), so I hope to be able to relate to your other experiences too. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Excellent feature mate, My first bike was a GS125 and i was EVERYWHERE on it, including the top of Scotland like yourself. Now 10 years later and a recession on i'm thinking of reprising a GS125 for commuting (i commute 250 miles per week) Your video reminds me of how capable the GS is, Cheers!
Great tour Nathan. If you ever end up getting a big bike, try a tour in the swiss alps (summer only) its amazing! Although i am considering doing scotland this next year coming. After watching your vids I now know where to go, so cheers!!
Brilliant video, looks like you had some great views along the way, even if you did get very wet. I'll hopefully be doing something long the same lines myself next year.
Fantastic! Don't give up! You are inspiring me now to make a similar journey. To think, I sold a Daytona 900 after a wet ride back from the South West (300 miles)! If Kudu couldn't make it, you surely will!
Your videos are great. Wish my Arctic Circle by motorbike videos were as good, for any one interested see part 5 when we reached The Circle, I'd also not long passed my test!
Superb video. Next time take some bin liners to keep yourself dry. Gaffer tape was a good thing to take! So would WD40. WELL DONE a true biker if ever I saw one!
Fantastic video, really enjoyed it, looking forward to doing similar adventures on a 125..

Get some decent kit. AS a dispatch rider I ended up using welling tons, and a suite the north sea fisherman use. cheaper than mc kit and works.
