@sweetamishbutter7 did you still have access to the internet through another means, if so just research and follow steps, please don't give up on linux due to a few errors, you can still access files using a live disk and do a full reinstall if neccassery

I tried to use linux and while i really enjoyed it one day it wouldn't start up... going to this "grub" menu that i couldn't get past. Really had no idea what i was doing... i installed it with Wubi which is basically for people who don't know what they're doing but it failed me.... even though it was fun while it lasted.

Anyway, chrome looks really promising and i plan on getting a chromebook if not just to keep the idea alive cause i think it is an amazing idea.

Mac's OSX is based of the FREE OS "Open BSD", which is similar to linux.

Apple sucks, as it charges money for something that is free. Just use BSD or Linux.

Sorry but Chrome OS is not something I would be interested at all for a main computer. Windows 7 is bar far the greatest OS release from Microsoft and I have a feeling (just a feeling) that Windows 8 is going to be even better. But I am also a Linux user and if it isn't Windows I am running on my main machine then it is going to be Linux... you know something with a command line and desktop and doesn't make me feel like I have been trapped in my browser... etc etc etc.

Ok so it's for a notebook rite? That means that it's meant for travels rite? But gOS is an Internet only OS rite? But I don't think I am willing to take my router evrywhere with me just to be able to start up my pc. Or do they want me to pay extra for mobile Internet?

It takes me 40 seconds to start my MacBook and open safari, it takes me 58 seconds to start chromium os :/ FAIL

@360ownez haha i thought it was pretty apparent the full processor speed to run chromium os wasn't there (i was already on Ubuntu). assuming a bare metal setup and a macbook, i'm quite sure chromium os's boot speed can outdo osx's. (math FAIL) (sorry had to do that :/ )

@360ownez a mobile device or a netbook which runs the Chrome OS, will boot in less than 5 seconds, once the OS is released. In fact it already does, even in early stages..

@pumaile If you're gonna surf the net and only that, you don't need to boot a whole operating system. ChromeOS does a quick and fast job. (you CAN boot from an OS, not a browser, hence the size difference)

@KillTheGrasshopper TBH i find it dumb to wait minutes to do something on the web that can be accomplished in seconds. chrome acts as an experimental platform for that. i highly doubt it's use as a primary OS, perhaps only as an instant-on solution (can probably reference from SplashTop's debut in HP laptops)

@KillTheGrasshopper i'm okay with a single boot too, but there're people with legacy pcs who can do with a faster OS. also, being able to just power on and off into a lighter OS to perform a 3 minute task seems pretty viable to me too. thanks for your opinion too

This is stupid. "Application tabs?" Those are basically tabs for different sites.... Facebook, gmail? I can use all those on my regular computer. What if i want to download actual programs? Where do those go? And what if i want to use a different internet browser then chrome? So many problems..........

This OS isn't meant to replace desktop computers or high end PCs. Google has stated that this OS is targeting a specific niche, like the i-pad. This OS fits perfectly in net books, PDAs and all small devices.

if you're using Compiz , turn of all plugins and turn them on one by one. if one lags a lot suddenly , turn it off.

pffft, Ubuntu is slow as hell, Mint is better. Chrome as it states is aimed at notebooks, so small underpowered lappies. Much like Linux :P
