The positive and negative as well as the punishment and reinforcement aspects of the procedure have nothing to do with the subject's behavior. Positive refers to introducing a stimulus. Negative refers to removing or withholding a stimulus. Reinforcement refers to the increased probability of that behavior. Punishment refers to the decreased probability of that behavior. You can positively reinforce unwanted behavior. In fact, a lot of parents unknowingly do.
uhhhhhh...sorry, i hate to be a know it all but negative reinforcement is just when something is taken away and positive reinforcement is when something is added. it has nothing to do with good or bad...
I'm glad someone corrected parts of it in the comments nicely. When I saw it I was embarrassed for them. There is no value judgment associated with positive and negative reinforcement. This film isn't funny and it's not educational. I just hope this is a 3rd grade project. You should take it off to avoid further shame. You might not get the joke.
ROTFL "NO kicking babbies!" hhehehehhee that was yet again a funny video and I learnt alot about how to care for my child (when I have one) and how to punish it.
Your definition of negative reinforcement is wrong. It has nothing to do with 'negative behaviour'but is the reinforcement of a behaviour by removing a stimulus from the enviornment. E.g telling a parent you don't like a particular food, which they then take away and do not give you again. Your behaviour (telling them) is reinforced negatively (by subtracting the food from the enviornment) increasing the chances that the behaviour will be repeated in the future in a similar context
Well said. A few other fallacies: 1) Skinner did not do child study. His work was primarily basic (rat & pigeon) in nature. Piaget did the child study. 2) Skinner DID NOT put his children in an operant chamber to keep them in line. He created an air crib which was considered an improvement to the playpens commonly used by parents in the 1940s-today. See, it is educational!
Did he just piss on that car?
