I've always found amp settings depend on guitar..... for example, you set up a tele to sound good and then plug in a Les Paul to find it sounds horrible. Then you get the Les Paul sounding good but switch to a tele and it sounds horrible..... Different pickups give different tones/output volumes just like different woods make guitars sound different. Get the clean sound right first; after your clean channel sounds great, then you can screw with the distortion.

Gain = 9

Bass = 6-8

Treble = 7-9

Mid = Always below 4 like 3-1 or even 0 sometimes.

Reverb = 2

This is the best settings for most Metal bands like: Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Some Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Black Sabbath with less gain, etc, etc.

Always make sure Treble and Bass are almost cranked up and mids to be very low, this makes a more crisp sound making it sound cooler. Also if you're going to mess with the gain, don't go over 8 or even 9. It really doesn't give you that much gain.

Lets just say we were at similar volumes but I could barely hear myself over him. I have a Peavey 3120 tube amp it is more beast than any solid state amp, bar none.

There is no "best sound" this shitty tone you made might be your favorite sound, but I prefer a smoother, more rounder tone, which the line 6 doesnt provide.  All my videos are using the Line 6 Spider III amp with my own settings.

yeah u can have it on full gain but i know what people mean because when i play on amps with full gain alot of times i have palm mute it cuz its over drown in gain but remember its not just the amp that gives the sound the main thing on the guitar is pick ups and most bands use emg which metallica started to use them (do a video search) most metal bands use them, it gives that metal tone without having that shitty sound. im getting emg soon

Hey doinyourmom, i had the same prob. If you turn the settings all the way up then back down then to where you want it then it works. Then hold the clean button to set it. That was my problem. Hope that helps
