I just got this phone from sprint for free and was wondering it would be worth it to upgrade to another phone would it be better to just pay 100 for something like the htc evo 3d what do you think or is a $100 not worth the difference?
@turdfurgosan It's your money and your life. If it was my choice, I'd go with the EVO 3D, as it is a much more powerful and advanced phone overall. However, you may really prefer a keyboard, and $100 may be harder to come by for you. You will have to judge whether it's worth the money to get a much more advanced phone.
@wirefly thanks bob i think i will be upgrading but now im stuck on htc evo 3d vs samsung epic 4g touch lol i saw your schmackdown and touch won so now i just have to decide if i want to pay 200 for the touch which is a little better or go with the evo for just 100 more
@Jessslove93 I did some searching on this and could not find a simple way to take screen shots of the Transform Ultra. You could always pull out a digital camera, set it to "macro" mode and take a photo of the phone's display. If you do this at night when there's no light reflecting off the display, it actually can work well.
@davielove11 Aye, if you've already gotten this phone could you take the time and send me a message or even just reply on here if its a good phone? I might get one because i am in need of an Android phone and since this one is free than why not? Lol
Bob, I am an AT&T customer, but this phone looks fantastic. I'm seeing it on eBay for a steal of $75 from a top-rated seller with no contract. Will my AT&T SIM card work with this phone or am I deluding myself?
@XxxTheFireEmblemxxX The Transform Ultra has no SIM slot, so your AT&T SIM will not work. The Transform Ultra works only on CDMA networks, and your AT&T SIM is for phones that work on GSM networks. The two don't mix.
@nuffsaidguy I don't think the Marquee is slow, certainly not for a phone in its class. Keep in mind it has 3G and a single-core processor, but it's low cost with a nice display and small size. Are other phones faster? Sure, but they are bigger, heavier and more expensive.
@Boywonder233 I just fired up a Transform Ultra and draged a couple icons around the display. It's a little quirky but worked okay once I figured it out. I wouldn't say that it lags, but I did have to work a little to get the icon where I wanted it.
@SuperShawnbell That depends on whether you like a physical keyboard. The Marquee has a much nicer display, but the Transform Ultra has a peppier processor. Personally, I'd go with the slimmer, lighter Marquee, particularly because of its bigger, nicer display. But the Transform Ultra is a decent keyboard phone.
@osmar11g Interesting comparison. The Triumph is a pretty decent pre-paid phone. I like it's big (4.3-inch) display and nice resolution (480x800), and the Triumph is the one I'd chose between the two. However, the Transform Ultra is peppy and has a keyboard -- it should be faster than the Triumph, although it has much lower display resolution. If you like a keyboard, the Ultra is a good choice.
@galaxyapps The Ultra has lots better performance than the original Transform. If you like the Transform's configuration (keyboard, display size, resolution), the Ultra will be a much smoother experience.
Bob would you plz plz plz put up a schmackdown of either (the transform ultra vs. the lg optimus s) or (the transform ultra and the samsung epic 4g) that would be very helpful thx!
@nuffsaidguy Unfortunately, I no longer have either a Samsung Epic 4G or an LG Optimus S. I can say that the Epic 4G would win against the Samsung Transform Ultra, and the Transform Ultra would win over the Optimus S.
I wasn't sure whether or not to go with this but after seeing your video I went ahead and ordered one. It'll be my first Android, I've been using Blackberry's for the last few yrs and now I'm looking forward to getting this bad boy in my hands, not to mention the insanely low cost of $55/month (which can drop to $40/month with shrinkage) for unlimited text/talk/data from Boost. I'll let you know how I like it Tuesday (12/13) afternoon when it's delivered to me. Thanks for the good info!
Im looking to buy a new android phone, but i want it to have a slide out keyboard like this one . does anyone have any suggestions or is this phone a good choice ?
@M0nkeyman1221 If you are on Sprint, the best of the sliding keyboard phones is the Samsung Epic 4G. The HTC EVO Shift is good, and the Samsung Transform Ultra has perhaps the highest performance of the three. However, the Transform Ultra has the lowest resolution display of the three, so a lot depends on how good you want the display to be.
I love smartphones and have been checking out boost for a while hoping they came along with one worth buying. When the Prevail got released I thought to myself...well, it's a start but decided to just buy a used/new to me, Epic 4g that was in excellent condition (shout out to ebay!!!) and put it on boost mobile network so I could enjoy the $50 unlimited plan w/ shrinkage. The Transform Ultra has caught my eye as a Christmas gift to my girlfriend since she enjoys great smartphones with keyboards.
@javibarr Wirefly doesn't have the ZTE Warp, as far as I know. I don't know when it's expected to arrive, either, which makes it impossible to plan for a video with these two.
@javibarr FWIW, it looks like the ZTE Warp will arrive around the end of January. My preliminary take is that it has good specs for a pre-paid phone, roughly similar to the Motorola Triumph.
@qx125365 The Transform Ultra has a display resolution of 320 x 480, which is considerably less than the top phones. Lots of low-cost and free phones have 320 x 480 resolution, but the fact is that level of resolution is the least attractive thing about the Transform Ultra. It's a good phone but it's not at clear as, say, the Samsung Epic 4G. Then again, the Trans Ultra is faster than the Epic 4G.
@wirefly Can you do a Schmackdown of the Samsung Transform Ultra for Sprint and the LG Marquee for Sprint? Or please at least tell me which you think is better?
@dallasrulz120 I actually like both those phones. The Marquee has a MUCH nicer display, but the Transform Ultra is a bit faster and has a keyboard, if that's what you like. The Marquee is the choice if you want slim and light with a 4-inch display, while the Transform Ultra is the choice if you want a keyboard and faster response, but a smaller, lower-quality display.
please awnser this i want to get the samsung transform ultra for boost mobile but i dont see it on your website will it ever be on there any time soon? thanks

Hi, I didn't see the Samsung Transform Ultra in your website. Can you please put Zte Warp from Boost Mobile? It came out today. I wanna get it for my dad.
@raven123xox The Samsung Transform Ultra doesn't go on sale for a few more days, so it won't be on Wirefly until then. I don't have the ZTE Warp and don't know if I can get one. If I do get one, I will give it some coverage.
@raven123xox It looks like the ZTE Warp is a Walmart exclusive for at least a couple months. At the moment, I'm not expecting the Warp to be on Wirefly for several weeks.
@TheJohnny2bad22 I did a Schmackdown with the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, which is Sprint's version of the Galaxy S II. Is that what you had in mind?
@TheJMFlores310 Samsung Transform Ultra because Metro Pcs phones was always the company I regret getting. Samsung Transform Ultra is very fast barely even lags unless you have a LOT of apps. So you should get it.
@Xuxa16 AT&T's contract with Wirefly (and several other online retailers) expired in March. We hope to be able to sell AT&T phones again and are working on that possibility.
@nuffsaidguy I knew someone would ask that... yes, the keyboard is backlit.
I don't know what you are asking when you ask about the "ppi". Price? We don't have the Transform Ultra priced yet, as it doesn't launch for a few more days. @chewyourfingers Ahhh... I don't know the formula for calculating pixels per inch. My guess is that you need the actual width of the display in inches and divide that into the number of pixels. For instance, divide X inches into 540 for the EVO 3D and divide Y inches into 320 for the Transform Ultra. I just don't know what X and Y are, exactly.
