I find Patrick Chan's french easy to understand but when Joannie Rochette speaks I am completely lost. Does anyone who knows conversational french have this problem?
son français est incroyable! un accent un peu québecois (bien sure aha) mais pas si canadien comme j'ai attendue. and i still can't believe it! i mean i just met him this week (he came to calgary for a while) and him speaking french was the last thing i expected. of course that makes me kinda hypocritical since I'm 100% canadian, asian (half) but speak french and english of equal quality... sorry bout that. this isn't about me but about PATRICK CHAN! love you!!
Next5: (P) She has one of the most wonderful program, and I hope she can give her best performance. I know her and I know she's can do it. (J) I wish him to skate like he wishes in his heart, because we tend to forget how young he is and all the pressure he has on his shoulders like all of us.
The End. :)
(Besides, Joannie speaks french because she's from a small town in Québec. Chan's french comes from his dad and his french education in Ontario. Vive le bilinguisme!)
Next4: (P) Sometimes, she gives me the chance to practice with her (how to charm), like if she was my girlfriend. Patrick is young and his mother still travels with him. He likes to be part of the gang, even if he's younger, we don't notice it. Her mother tells me: you're one of the oldest, make sure he studies before his exam. I never really told him, but I find it quite funny that she wants me to influence him, because when the competition is over, everyone goes partying!
(J) The worst thing about him? Oh that's a difficult one! He'll see this after! I'm sorry Patrick! He's a little too much upfront. He needs a little more technique in who to ''charm'' the women. He's only 18 so he's going to get better. The guys on the team are good at it, so they are going to teach him! He's going to be the perfect gentleman! (P) I think Joannie is so pretty that she makes all the guys want to charm her!
Next2: (P) Joannie is really capable of skating lightly and being fluid in her movement. It's an important quality to have in skating. It would be great for me to have that. I'm still youg. (J) When you meet Patrick, what strickes the most is his love & joy of life. It's contagious when you spend a moment with him. He will definitly make you laugh. (P) Her best quality is her attitude. She's always positive and shares it with all the skaters and fans.
Next: (P) When I see her skate, I'm always nearly crying! (J) I think I would like to have his edge. The slide he has on ice is really exceptional. Besides his jumps, it's what impresses the most, his foot sequence. For his age, I've never seen a skater like him, who translate so much emotion. He's a complete skater. Not only a jumper or an artist. What's fun is that each perfomance, no matter how he skates, he will always give his best and make you feel all that he has inside.
Here is the complete translation: I first met Patrick when he won the novice Canadian Championship, I remember he was annoying running all over the place. I was really impressed with the quality of his skating. He made some little mistakes, but what really stand out for me was his authenticity and what we could felt seeing him skating. - She skates like an artist, she's really soft, she skates in a unique and different way, better than all the other skaters in the world. She's really special.
Though I knew that in Canada people use Eng & French, but I didn't know Joannie and Chan speak French so fluently! It sounds great but I can't understand what they're saying (T.T)....can someone translate?
@PochinkoPotanko Basically Joannie and Patrick are talking about eachother. The funny part of it, was when Joannie says what she thinks is Patrick's weakness, getting girls, she says he's still young and the guys on the canadian team will help him.. :P And Patrick says that Joannie is so beautiful that all the guys like her. Then, Joannie talks about how Patrick's mom comes to her and asks her to influence him to study for exams.

Patrick's French is really good. Struggles a bit but at least he could speak it unlike me! :)
