    where as you seem to squat more on the front leg and let your knee come forward, which i guess happens naturally in single leg squat variations.

    what is the rule in this regard, is there a limit to how far forward ur knee can come?

  • The old, "Don't let the knee go in front of the toes" is one of the worst myths in strength training out there.

    It's perfectly natural to let the knee go in front of the toes as long as you have the flexibility around the ankle to do so while keeping the foot flat.

    You're right - forcing the knee back behind the toes increases the stress on the back knee and makes it more prone to strain and injury - so let your knee go in front and you'll work the leg and hip muscles like they're supposed to!

    in regards to ur front leg when ur at the bottom of the bulg. squat, i've been told that you can't let your knee move past the line of your toes (as seen from side on) to protect the knee, same with ordinary lunges

    this, for me at least, places a lot of the weight on my leg on the bench, i feel a lot of strain in the top of my quad/hip flexor, it changes the mechanics a bit too in that you squat 'backwards' (if that makes
