Yo person that replied, notice i put "it's 'LIKE' prog-pop" i wasnt saying that it was an accepted genre just that i would personally describe it thus. Prog pop, even if contradictory, i believe it to be a decent summation of the songs structure.. PS everyone shud check out the A Capella version on PRR's myspace...
This secretly my favorite PRR track.. Its like Prog pop .. The sort of drum and bass thing in the last couple minutes and the annoying quite repetetive chorusy bit are the only weaknesses.
@webjamin7 Actually, the term "prog-pop" is an oxymoron. Prog-rock is music that deliberately moves beyond the bounds of pop-song structure, so *no* true prog can ever be pop. For pop music with an experimental/arty edge, the term "art-rock" is used, and I believe that was the term you were looking for.
haha the hell it should have, the last 5 minutes are easily the best on the track... oh no! a 9 minute track! what is this, prog rock? make it shorter! i demand you butcher this amazing piece of music because my mainstream ears cant handle listening to a song for more than 5 minutes!
Wow, what a fabulous track! Do you think they are trying to stick it up Radiohead by trouncing their song of the same name? By the way, very naughty posting this before Amor Vincit Omnia album is officially released! Tut Tut and shame on me for listening, but I couldn't help it.
About Radiohead, no, since its only one track. and MANY artist have tracks of the same name. As for posting it yes, naughty me :D also.. There is better, just wait till release.
I can't believe that PRR wouldn't be aware of Radiohead's song of the same name. Lets face facts: If you were say: John Mellencamp would you write a song called "Born in the USA?"
yeah, but thats the point, it's not JUST radiohead, google the gloaming and you'll see. it's loads of stuff. radiohead aren't important in the grand scheme of things!!! (despite being so fucking good)
oh really? I do struggle to see how anyone can not stand them, have you even heard what they do?.... whether or not you like them they're so creatively accomplished, they don't deserve any hate...... (anyway that said, I look forward to the next PRR whatever it is. I love how they changed their sound and hope to hear another!)
Radiohead have had a lot of critical acclaim but everything I have heard by them has left me flat. Whenever I read a review I think that Radiohead should be the band for me but I find their stuff really one-dimensional. The same applies to Muse but in this instance it is a case of me hating the vocals and if you don't like the vocals you are not going to connect with the band.
I guess it depends on your own subjective definition of "verse-chorus-nonsense". Analysing Kid A, 10 songs - 5 do not follow verse-chorus structure, 3 do, two are debatable. Oh, and only one of those songs has 3 chorus, which seems to be radio staple these days. Hope that helps :D
sure but would they be the same without that? a band like Muse is "massively" overrated, I would say. IMO being overrated is a strong statement, so till I find a band that even touches Radiohead, for me I can't ever think that!
I can't believe the Radiohead/Muse argument has started again!
Seriously, Muse write catchy tunes which fit together nicely. Matt Bellamy is a clever song writer and Muse are at least different to a lot of shit music out there, which is good.
HOWEVER, Radiohead seriously write genius music. They really try to push the boundaries. And I love them for that.
a 5 year old could do better

Muse is up tthere with radiohead for sure
moondanceacres 2 years ago
the song should of ended at 4:45... but still a great song... shows you don't have to have much variation in new-prog song... to be appealing.
bloc22bball 2 years ago
Should of ended at 4:45? what did they cut it on the actual album release?
NotSoCheerios 2 years ago
I think he means at 4:45 they just started dragging it out.
I like it how it is though. it's great
numbereft 2 years ago
@NotSoCheerios No I think the person meant that the song is too long, whether it's originally this long or not.

Well even if they are aware its just a song name. Album name, yeah thats something different. But its not really that big of a deal.

I agree. Radiohead are banal, verse-chorus-verse nonsense.

Ignorance at its finest there.
Radiohead aren't even that built up. They are underrated if anything, not to mention they are fantastic.
