  • 4:09-4:23 epic and nostalgic sound

  • The project is a great. Music and melodies that keep with you.

  • Obama's political strategy in song.

  • My boyfriend back then sang this to me, same voice! Incredible! Brings back great memories!

  • 2 dislikes??

  • This is my Pink Floyd!!

  • @bassmanjoe Alan Parsons is the guy who produced Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon!!

  • Yeah i know!!

  • This whole record is great, great song selection. All the songs are very different, sounds like a perfect record to me.

  • how can you have even listened to this album and come up with that? try going thru a divorce and then listen to it and tell me what it means, even a casual relationship will give you a better idea about this

  • long live thought provoking, emotionally evokative albums(cd) that challenge us to go beyond our exterior self.... prog rock

  • Don't to mean bad but sometime people don't realise what hey have, the line about the "silver plated Hero and Whore, is i'm afraid quite true in many instances. I have known of really good guys trying to have a realtionship (against thier best ideas) with let's say loose women and they really try but in every time they are cheated on and the loose women going on to have a failed relationship with a twat that soon reveals thier true colours and and shags someone else leaving them .

  • @Warhead3000 concept is chemical industry "whore" is greedy industry

  • @frododarg, well that's you interpretation and your welcome to it but I believe that they are sining about life and experiences that all can relate to (don't be confused by the albulm cover) otherwise why keep calling her she?? like most songs it's about relationships, atleast that's how I see. I don't see why people would relate to knowing about the chemical industry in a song seriously dude.

  • @Warhead3000 seriously the whole album concept (woolfson's idea) is about how the chemical industry might be misunderstood by the general public because of lack of scientific knowledge(how the public might veiw them) he had visited imperial chemical industries and saw miles of "pipeline" and a street sign "ammonia ave"

  • always loved this song. :-)

  • this album is great!

  • Unos Genios,incomparebles -geniales.

  • There's such an inspiration in this album...When I think to myself what is my favourite's APP album, I can only think at least seven or eight of his albums are really really great, it's amazing how far the good taste of them can go.

  • Only seven or eight of his albums are really great? Hell, most bands or performers are lucky to have even a single song thats as good as APP!!

  • @macaius

In the long run, quality stands out. APP was always about quality. Great and complex concepts, spot-on execution... If David Wayne hadn't got there first, I would bet Alan Parsons would have created WOTW about as good (we are talking ability, not heresy LOL)

(now that I say "was" does anyone know if he will put another one together?)

  • I LOVE this sooo much!!!

  • The lyrics of this song are pure poetry!

  • You're right. This is the best song on the album. Along with Steve Winwood and Peter Gabriel APP is what the '80's could've been.

  • For those of it in the know, we were already there in the '70s and waiting for more! :-D

  • this has always been my fav alan parsons song... amazing lyrics, amazing music!

  • APP used so many great vocalists. 100 years from now their music will still be appreciated.

  • what is that a picture of?

  • Ammonia Avenue.

The album, as the story goes, was named after a sign found on a barren street of chemical factory.

If you turn the picture 90 degrees and cut one of the top corners it looks like a chemical factory. It's just been flipped and mirrored a couple times.

  • If I'm not wrong, it's a picture of the place in where the song "Ammonia Avenue" was inspired. The picture of a street in a factory or complex filled with pipes, and the picture has a mirror-like effect.

  • this is my favorite song..

  • Bluntstone is my fave vocalist in APP, along with Woolfson himself of course.

  • This is the first APP album I bought. The reason is the track Prime Time... blew me away

  • Hope you've added many more to your collection by now! :-D

  • What would be the meaning of the song? I have a few theories but no one seems to fit with 100% of the lyrics.

  • whole concept of album was to comment on the

way the chemical industry views/treats the public

    and vice versa

the "high wire" is the limits the industry has gone

to and the situation we live with (safety etc.)

  • I'm torn between this one and Dont Answer Me for best song.. Dont Answer Me gives a very nice nostalgic (Wall of Sound) sound, while the lyrics od Highwire are comfortably deep. I have a sentimental fix on this album as it was my very first APP album.. and yes.. in Vinyl.. lol Love the whole album!

  • still have my tape(cassette)my very first too.

  • You again !! Nice to hear from you. Seems you trod similar Moody Parsons etc traiils. Marvelous comment. Appreciating the deep ...but then, what Moody Blues fan wouodn't.?

    Tom in Utica NY

  • I used to love these guys as a kid growing up. I would have loved to have caught them live but they never seemed to tour. In fact they always seemed a bit a bit off the radar and never seemed to plug themselfs.

  • @punditpete

they were a pure studio band and the technolodgy musicly had not been invented to produce the project live eric and alan both knew that, when eric chose musical theater alan considered afterward live performances, eric was at the premiere in his familiar managerial role, but not part of the stage emsemble they eric and alan had different ideas about music then not only how it was staged but in expression, still they gave us a beautiful legacy didn't they.

  • very magnificent

  • so hot!

  • where have all the great guitar licks gone?

  • great song

  • Best of alltimes, there is nothing more to say.

    More Brilliant than Brilliant.

  • this entire album is pure gold. from prime time to the title track.

    5*'s (X) infinity...

  • This is one of my all time favorites.

Takes me back to the summer of '84. The album was one of my HS graduation gifts.

  • excellent song!! Haw real is the lyric.

  • The lyrics are brilliant. I was a huge ABBA fan for two years before I found The Alan Parsons Project and now I know that it´s better to listen to groups with deeper-sense-lyrics who have something to say...

I´m happy I´ve moved away from the "Ring Ring" culture. Thank you TAPP!

  • Wonderful, another reason to get Ammonia Avenue. My God, why does this band not finally get the honor they deserve? TAPP fans are always a little undercover I have the feeling. Too bad!

  • I agree. They are so good and so far above anything that's around these days.

  • I love this song! Heals wounds.

  • Ohh....the great unbelievable voice of Colin Blunstone....he and John Miles were the real great voices of the project along with Steve Harley....great song!!

  • Lenny Zakatek was another great voice!

  • THAT'S COLIN BLUNESTONE ON VOCALS!!

  • He's called Bluntstone.

  • Hei, you forget Lenny Zakatek, Eric Woolfson and Chris Rainbow! They are great, too!!

  • Outstanding! Thank you for posting this.

  • i have this album and have always loved it. seems life has always been this ways. thank you for many years since 1984.

  • this is awesome! searching for the unusual voice of colin blunstone is like doing a difficult treasure hunt. oh, what a thrill to find him in alan parsons project, the zombies, keats...

definitely the most unforgettable voice in the whole world!

  • Nice song!
