@macdaddy1600 The camera is fairly small - 80x60x35mm and weighs around 150g. There are much smaller (and better quality, and cheaper!) cameras around.
I put a digital camera in the horizontal stabilizer of my 600 ESP, pity that was filled with vibration. Then look in my videos. Congratulations for the video, very good!
The camera I used was not wireless... there's no real need for a wireless camera. This is just a Nikon digital compact camera. I set it to 'video' mode, hit record, then take off and fly :-)
Good observation - yes it did! It's autofocus, so stayed locked onto the one thing not really moving - the tail boom. Could do with relocating the camera next time for a more 'in focus' flight experience :-)
OK, maybe I have an early ESC, but that is definitely soft start. I had it in normal start originally and it kicked like a mule. I don't think the ESC's are programmable; if I want the latest version of firmware I have to buy another - D'oh!
LOL, heavy or not, soft start does not jerk like that. You may have though it was, but def not in that vid. It throttles you to your stick movements, I can hear it. Soft start is smoot spool. GL
Anyone that thinks this video is anything but authentic, is scary to me. A scary person because that person is indicative of the declining state of society. A few more adle-brained individuals like that and we are certainly doomed--just watch the movie Idiocracy to see what I am talking about. =)
Nice flight, The Nikon is fairly heavy, but probably too easy for a 600.
I've just bought all the bits for FPV flying on my 3DX 450. This includes 5V colour cam & 6mm lens, 2.4GHz TX, 3.3V 3Amp UBEC to run the later, RX with Patch antenna, video amp/splitter to output to LCD Glasses & Archos DVR. This is not an off-the-shelf system, as I haven't seen one that has high enough quality. Also no disorientation probs with FPV ;-)
Forgot to mention when I have the cam recording, I'll be able to see the footage live on the handycam screen as it's transmitted. Although I may be in trouble if it runs out of range and I'm relying on footage to fly by - maybe I better not do that.
Nice footage&smooth flying. The sounds great too, can just hear the rotors giving that familiar thump.I have a wireless camera I'm intending to put on my nitro heli, and then I can plug the reciever into my MiniDV camcorder and record it straight onto tape.Range is limited to only 50m though, as I found out when it was on the R/C buggy.
i have a 2.4ghz wireless camera and wondered if anyone knew anyway of recording from it, i would rather blow a £15 ebay wireless camera than a £200 digital camocorder ill sure you agree for the modeller on a tight budget, i just dont want to lug a vcr up the flying field or a dvd recorder for that matter, io fi could record to hard drive or a dv disk it would be excellent
A good way to record is this: Get yourself a cheap 'TV tuner' (I have a Hauppauge USB one, they sell on Ebay for about £15) for my laptop. That allows you to feed composite video into it, and you then use your laptop and hard drive to record video. Works a treat. Regards - Rob.
Very ver nice video , i fly a trex 450se, may move to the 600 one day , nice wave ;) hehe keep up the good flying ;) You had a range problem ?? Is that a Dx7 ?? Looks like, ;) Ill be getting one in the next 2 days woo ;) Nice flying mate
No range problem... field small! The camera simply recorded onto memory card, with no wireless link. My radio is a Futaba FF9 (9C super). Still waiting for the Spektrum modules to come to move onto 2.4GHz. Thanks for the comments - Rob
I guess it weighs about 150g or so. I didn't notice much (if any) trim difference to the heli. I simply taped the camera onto the rear frame/canopy mounts and being fairly close to the CofG anyway, it didn't make any odds. Next task is to mount the camera facing forwards. And to all the idiots who previously posted that this is a fake (?) video - get a life!! Thanks - Rob
This video is 100% genuine! I am the other person waving with my 5 year old son. It was a Nikon compact camera taped to the canopy mounts with electrical tape. The flight was about 7.30pm and the sun was low. Rob flew for half the pack -about 6 minutes and once he had removed the camera, he kindly let me fly the pack out. Rob text me to say the video was really good quality, so I persuaded him to get it on YT so that I could watch it too, It was posted within 1.5 hours of that flight!
lol go spy on some neighbours that didnt invite you to there party

Ah ya, the newer ESC has a better soft start.

nice video, save your heli and use soft start..
TamiyaExperienced 3 years ago
This IS soft start!! These blades are pretty heavy, and there is a bit of start-up 'snatch'.
Non-soft start on the ESC is a complete no-no...
Cheers - Rob
