I used to think surround sound was pretty damn cool until I found out about binaural audio, of course you need some headphones but that shit is crazy!
Looks like u've never heard about overloads, non-linear perception of LAFC (really logarithmic, aha?)... In fact, you don't need to read a lot to heard the mistakes. Everything you need to know - basics of mixing. And, sure, heard superposed freqs.
P.S. And don't use so much comp, RMS is so high, dynamic range is close. And u kill all attack.
P.P.S. And nothing 'bout reverb or shift tone of moving objects. In fact, it necessary too.
one little problem with that is the using duel of fates , wrong episode , and the music should fade out completely before the deep note , then boom that part was awesome
Not bad, just take it easy on the audio levels though, there's a lot of clipping distortion. Back off on the levels a bit so you don't murder the sound quality, speakers have a volume control for a reason ;)
Thanks for the constructive criticism but there is no need for it. This was the FIRST thing I did in Sound Design many, many years ago. I know there are a lot of mistakes but that isn't the point. The point is that this is where I started.
Please watch the video response to this called Fifty Percent Grey. That one I done years after this and it is much more solid and critique worthy.
Even though you've progressed from this initial try, others can learn from the critique if they are just hearing it for the first time. Thanks for keeping this available, it looks like your other video has been pulled.
I would definately hold off on the THX deep tone until the very end....it doesn't go well over the chorus. Instead, perhaps as the THX logo appears, continue with William's score with the rapid trumpet overture.... allow the logo to be completely shown, stop everything....silence....the BAM! blow the logo up as the words appear "the audience is listening"....THEN introduce the famed deep-THX amp sound as it all fades to black....?
awesome! ! ! i have lots of respect for your work!
soundesign aint that easy as some people believe!
im a musician myself - i know what an effort is necessary
to create sounds all by yourself!

If you're talking about the animation, I can't help you there because I didn't make it. As far as the sound design goes that would be Pro Tools.

That was good for your first try on the first project in the first class.
I watched your Fifty Percent Grey film, now that was much more professional sound design.
