I loved watching Sabonis play back in the day. It was hard to watch him lumber up and down the court, but he was a stud. If only he got a chance a bit earlier in his career he could have gone down as one of the best C's ever.
@tothebeaty0 he left NBA because he always said that he will end his career in his first club. Club which grown him up BC Zalgiris. He played his last season there and retired afterward. RESPECT.
Sabonis is awesome i would like to say him play basketball again.Well, atleast he has his own basketball school called "Saboninė" in Kaunas Lithuania. (Yeah, i go to it :D)
he could have been the greatest big man of all time. if you don't believe me, check his games before his knee injury. It was ridiculous how good he was, like a 7'3 Larry Bird
i'd say passing was his best aspect of the game. and also when he played in zalgiris when he was young he crashed shitloads of boards which was awesome!
im Lithuanian the same as Sabonis its actually a funny story why he smashed those boards, u c in the old days when Lithuania was in the Soviet Union everybody drinked a lot and had huge hangovers and couldnt play so Sabonis smashed the board and while ppl were replacing it he n his teammates went to "fix" their health :D its true
when he started playing basketball he wasnt playing center, he was PG and when he gain hight he started to learn to play as C but never forgot how to play PG
that blazers generation were champions. they could have beat pufters from LA in finals 2000, but 'thanx' to idiot like rasheed wallace they didnt...eh good old dayz.
i am a huge blazer fan, and i missed that 4th quarter collapse, i couldn't believe it really knowing they were up 15 going into the 4th and then finding out later they lost. Anyway, they couldn't have gotten their without wallace, he was as good as any... Can't say if his temper caused the loss, but I still think he was a great part of that team
most perfect center isnt he? he might got 30k points if he played in nba in his whole career

another reason its hard to rank is sabonis didnt have as good a tea as other greats .. on a better tea his assists would have been even better
