  • Well, like the video said, it was only car sized. It doesn't take a degree to figure out that 90% of it would burn up in the atmosphere.

  • so should i worry ? move to mexico or somewhere where is safe ? what to do ??

  • An asteroid that size wouldn't be likely be devastating globally, but it could depending on it's speed.

  • We might not witness the asteroid on 2080 : Asteroid 2005 YU 55 will come first on november 2011 and probably would cause a pole shift if not global catastrophe like the flood of Noah!

  • That small thing is sooo dangerous, I dont get it.

  • @SlimLPShady oh c'mon! it's so small let us see what harm it can do!

  • @SlimLPShady Have you ever seen a car moving 11 km/s hit something? No? Well that's why.

  • lets get the F out of here!! rsrsr

we need to explore the space to survive as specie. the planet will be ok. if we dont destroy it fisrt. PAZ

  • The end of humanity, is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

Get real, you are not important to existance, you are nothing more than a spec of bacteria in a never ending donkey turd.

So what if we are wiped out by an asteroid...if we could contect a civilazation somewhere else in the world and tell them our planet is about to be destroyed, I am sure they wouldnt give a fuck, we do not deserve to be saved.

We are ignorant, murdering, selfish scum human beings, we are a disgusting species.

  • @ProbablyCoolerThanU you took the wor..... letters right out of my fin...keyboard

  • @vhayes8886

No, it's the old velocity squared problem. The real impact from an asteroid comes because of how fast it's moving. 3 small asteroids could do more damage than 1 big one, even though the mass is smaller, because the effects would be less localized. A 50ft tidal wave hitting every coastal area on the atlantic would do less damage than 3 25 ft tidal waves hitting every coastal area on the globe, for instance.

  • 2880? who gives a fuck

  • @skoz14 That's a hell of long time before this one hit us about 700 years. What about Aphous an asteriod that will come extremely close too us in April 2028 and then may hit us in 2036, when it makes another pass at us? This one might not wipe us out but what it would do is cause lot of damage where ever it might hit, and its in most of our life times that this might happened too us.

  • venus is passing in front the sun on 2012.. suns polar shift an flares and whatnot..something..but ppl... doomsday ?!

  • If life on earth still exists in 2880 then shame on us for not being smart enough to intergalactially relocate,to be honest im more worried about the sun destroying us with a massive solar flare =]

  • supersonic sound waves in a vacuum...wonder what would happen...

  • there must be some way of if the meteor does hit the planet there must be some sort of plan to clean up the earth or something

  • well since 2000, these sightings of asteroids have become too frequent so they are bound to happen anytime soon.... hmnn..... didnt the maya predict that by the year 2012 humans' awareness of nature and space will be elevated? or nostradamus didnot say that by the same year there would b fire from the sky??

  • @mane1138

Nostradamus supposedly foresaw that sometime after the year 3000

2012 for the Mayans is supposedly the time when the sky falls on the earth, which people have turned to believing is a meaning for asteroids.

  • @MachiiUnin lol....yes they do....and the time of the new beginning.....mayan calendar is 3 cycles....on 21st december 2012.....the earths magnetic field will flip.....the rotational poles will flip.....and the sun's poles will flip....the stars falling could mean many things....E.T SuperShips to save us(a great possibility) or asteroids falling to earth....

  • soin 2880. Who say humans will even be around that far from now. I am more worried about some of these psycho countries taking everyone out....

  • excellent video.. we should be prepared now, but unfortunately we spend to much on nukes and space exploration.... we have the technology but lack the will..

  • is this true that 2012 is the end of the world?

  • @carolinebernardo34 nooooooooooooo, look up some inforamtion on it. Something is going to change that is all. no worries :)

  • @carolinebernardo34 i dont think so even tho it is rather worrying all these natural disasters happening

  • @carolinebernardo34 Well according to Hollywood and in particular Roland Emerich 's film 2012 have seen it?

  • we will be dead by then

  • A Michael Jackson Bat-Signal should do the trick. Just scare it away.

  • This Is Crap if anybody thinks we will survive to 2880 is awesome

  • All you would need to do is blow up a 100 hydrogen bombs from a little distance. That should push most huge asteroids out of their trajectory enough to not hit earth if it was done in time.

  • the power of all the hydrogen bombs in the world couldnt compare to the force of an extinction size asteroid hurtling trough space. it will just keep smiling and coming for earth probably. mayb it breaks off a few chunks, but they will still reach earth and are now extremely radio active. best change i think is finding such an asteroide early and build an inmense stellular body and send in to the comet. this man made 'comet' has his own gravitational pull and could mayb change the trajectory

  • Lol, the year 2880

  • their probably send up bruce willis and ben affleck to take care of it

  • so they cna get another razzie award?

  • Is he talking about apophis?

  • @lennchma No, this one a chance of hitting March 16th, 2880. Apophis has a chance of hitting April 13th, 2036.

  • Comment removed

  • @melis256 no. this one is not car sized

  • can a bullet kill an elefant?yes, its moving fast

its like if u shoot a 50 cal. bullet in water

will make it a car size bullet

  • @melis256

Are you fucking retarded or something??

  • @melis256

The second asteroid they're talking about is actually over 1km wide...

  • 800 years from now we'll be an interstellar species, and we will have the technology to take care of these things without any risk at all. No worries.

  • If we can survive another 800 years ya maybe....but i doubt it.

  • 99942 Apophis?

  • lolz they already said 2012 would be the end but now they are talking about 2880?

  • @0umbrellacorp did they seriously say that the asterid is 7 million miles away, and that it will take it about 870 years for it to get here, and that it is close enough for us to "check out" on a radar? If its so slow, then why are we even talking about it, its years from now. Just wait for a death beam to be developed and you problem is fixed @_@

  • fuck you are so stupid

  • @mikerules999 @mikerules999 I may have commented in a bit of a sarcastic tone... I mean I could and should have just said:

well wait till them good old scientist develop them death beam... Im not being cerous ... who can be on you tube... lol.

Regard less I have said fare more then I should... there we go, now get lost.

Remember: Sweet and to the point messages are of you tubers fav.

  • you could just detonate a nuclear proximity device to steer it away, no need to blow it into pieces.

  • its hard to blow it up like that when you are in a vacuum, you would only get a really sharp flash of light and a "wall" of radiation.

it would only work if you landed the nuke on the asteroid or very very close.

  • @evilblades Evilblades, you could also use a bot, to start berting to creat a motion that would veir the aseroid off of it's deadly path...

  • no worries my brothers and sisters. Ever heard of Aphopis?

The building sized asteroid. And do you Know when..?

just search it in wikipedia or youtube...

  • Ummm... Dude... Aphopis hits us and I will give you Antarctica... There are many other asteroids then Aphopis that are higher on the Torino scale and I think from memory that Aphopis has even been relegated to a 0 on the scale as of 2005 or 2006.

So, other then fear mongering, what's the point you are trying to make with Aphopis?

  • It has a 1 in 45,000 chances to hit earth, 300 meters in diameter. it could wipe-out an entire continent. They don't even where it will hit, maybe in your backyard(not that want it). 1 in 45,000 chances isn't good news. and it's sooner than you expected...

  • hey wanna know 2880 we are already dead so no worry left 807 years lol

  • I'm sick of the 1/300 chance talk.

The asteroid either hits the earth or it doesn't.

    So it's a 50/50 chance.

  • @ObliviuxProductions

That isn't how chance works, idiot.

  • Then how does it work? Idiot.

  • @ObliviuxProductions to answer your question, the reason it doesn't work 50/50 is because hundreds of variables have to be accounted for the trajectory of the asteroid, for starters, the gravity of every planet and the sun, their orbits, their effects on each other, any other extraplanetary objects and their trajectories (other asteroids perhaps), that's all i can think of right now, but i'm sure i'm missing something, that's already probably around a couple hundred variables there. Ignoramus :)

  • @ObliviuxProductions If you believe that, then I'll roll a die 1000 times and bet you $100 that each time it's rolled it will not be a six. This means that every time 6 pops up, I give you $100 and every time not 6 comes up, you give me $100. At the end of this, we should come very close to breaking even, because by your logic, it's a 50/50 bet.

  • @PelicanGodOfJupiter

Your argument deals with 6 possible outcomes. Which is 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5 and finally 6. So it's irrelevant to what I was trying to say, since it only deals with 2 outcomes : the asteroid hits the earth or it doesn't. But then again I could be looking at this the wrong way, so if you want to explain don't use examples that are irrevelant, use the asteroid and the earth like it said in the video.

  • @ObliviuxProductions I thought the statistics were quite obvious.... his argument deals with 6 outcomes because he's trying to show you that 1/300 chance is not the same as 50/50.

  • @burninmunkeys

But why 1/300? What are the other 300 outcomes? There is 1. Asteroid doesn't hit earth, and 2. asteroid hits earth. What are the other 298 outcomes? Is what I cannot understand.

  • @ObliviuxProductions Idk, lets just assume for some random reason there is a chance it could pass through 299 other blocks of space the size of earth making earth 1/300 of a chance of it being hit. It's not a probability of outcomes it's a probability of what are the chances of it getting hit. If you throw a baseball at a brick wall, what are the chances you will hit a specific brick apposed to others, it isn't going to be 1/2 because there are many bricks you could hit.

  • @ObliviuxProductions the other 299 outcomes are it not hitting Earth. If it had a 50/50 chance, that means they ran a simulation twice and it hit Earth once and missed once. This means they ran a simulation approx 300 times and it had 1 hit.

  • @EmperorofCartoons

So its an outcome within an outcome? What the. Inception.

  • @ObliviuxProductions

50/50 chance is wrong, the 1/300 means that 1 out of 300 passes with its current trajectory it would hit earth, obviously you failed math.

  • @YearZer02022

With it's current trajectory? How would you divide that into 300 passes? Please explain

  • @ObliviuxProductions

Apparently you do not understand the concept of 1/300, it simply means that 1 out of 300 passes it would hit, lets say this whole thing is a theoretical simulation, they run the test 300 times, it hits once, even the slightest gravity change can mean it hits or misses, that is where the 300 comes into play. That is all.

  • @ObliviuxProductions thats not the point there saying that in the year 2880 it could hit between 1-300 days

  • 1 in 300 ??? wow thtas not good

  • @pavancreddy

actually it means that its has 299 chances to fail and 1 to hit...

  • 2880? Thats a one in three hundred chance of even predicting a 1/300 chance accurately.

  • ... so it will happen in more than 800 years.... its car sized.... let the people that live 800 years from now worry about it lol as long as it aint me or my unborn kids

  • @jackiestorm150

if you have good genes im guessing some of your decendents will still be alive...soo we should start planing ahead for them.

  • Bruce Willis will save us! lol

  • @scerwdriver no not bruce wills chuck norris will ;)

  • i wanna be cryogenically frozen so i could go to 2880 to see this..

  • 2880 -_- omg better start worrying now !

  • wat about 2012?

  • lets say mankind is still around in 2880, and lets say that 1/300 chance the astriod did hit us, with the improvements of technology increasing knowledge of the universe, i think we have a favoured chance to surive.

  • in the year 2880 the technology improved so dont worry it kill do anything they can build a shield to stop it so stop worrying

  • lol car sized....are you serious

  • Yea lol

WHY NOT FUCKING NUKE IT?? ITS SO SMALL! It would be destroyed without raising its chance of hitting earth lol

  • depends on how close it is 1 and 2 it would prolly break apart as 0:52 shows and then wed be worse off

  • why would you include the word fuck in your sentence? it doesn't emphasize anything in the way it does, it just makes your proposal look absurd.

  • @ariadarabi I'm just saying, that its much of an easier plan if you ask me :P

  • you are damn right my brother!

  • do you want to wake up in the morning and see 42 billion little asteroids falling from the sky and destroying everything? ever seen Armageddon when it hits France

  • @mikerules999 Why not emphasize the word "car sized" Little pieces wow nuclear power can destroy particles of an asteroid if that small.

  • 2880... Who actually thinks the earth is going to survive till then. I mean I have my hopes but.. be realistic..

  • I have a feeling there aren't many things that can put a planet out of existence.

  • 1. Solar Flare 2. Black Hole 3. Core Destabilization 3. Moon crashing into Earth 4. Sun turning into a red giant or blowing up. 5. Nuclear devastation. 6. Super massive asteroid. 7. Milky Way crashing into Andromeda. 8. Deathray. 9. Death Star. 10. Galaxy Gun. 12. R2D2 firing a Galaxy Gun by accident. 13.Super Robot Nazis who are also Zombies conquering Earth... 14. Dividing by Zero. I'm sure there are many more.
  • @mikerules999 You forgot that plutos gunna come back and kick our asses for calling it an astroid you know that saying..."Start calling pluto an astroid, itll start acting like one!"

  • 15. They create sparticals at Cern converting all matter to 1 giant spartical 16.Mini-black hole from Cern sucking everyhing into it

  • I don't think people said the same 800 years ago right?

  • @NazimUddin15 Yahh... that's true, Ripley's Believe it or Not states by 2100 half the world will be uninhabitable if we don't act on behalf of Climate Change. And we already know now that the Sahara desert is growing bigger everyday.

  • I wonder if ppl had those thoughts in the year 1140.. surely someone had too...

  • I doubt it... i mean with all these new PLANET DESTROYING weapons (OK exaggeration.. but ye) and "Climate Destabilisation" or as we like to call "Global Warming" who believes our planet will last until then... I have my hopes (even though I wont be alive in 800 years) but im thinking realistically.. We already caused enough damage...

  • lol yea im with ya

  • the fact is global warming has always been occuring, just that we are speeding it up even more, but the way you say the earth will not be here in 800 years is wrong, if you believe in evolution you will believe that the earth is millions and millions of years old, just because it gets hot and humans die or there is anoth ice age doesn't mean the earth will be destroyed, it just means we wont be here to see it happen, by we i mean the human race :)

  • I'm not saying that the Earth will be destroyed within 800 years, I'm just saying there are possibilities.

Also, I think we should be concentrating on how to solve some major issues of today's world, such as slowing down Global Warming, rebuilding the economy, finding cures for diseases, or maybe even helping people in Haiti. But, this is still an issue to be dealt with, but more pressing issues are at hand.

Lastly, I think with technology rising, it should be simple to deal with this..

    N

  • all the things yu have listed bellow are all being done just that the possibilities are do low... that , i'll just leave it there,

  • lets hope it changes coarse but not away from earth we should aim it a china =)

  • MONSTER! I KNOW that asians are CRZy but they do the ps3 and xbox. and wont somebody please think of the children

  • hmm...its just a car sized asteroid....and it can kill us all?

I wonder...what if the government took a car sized rock from earth into space and then pushed it in the planet....could we all die?

  • Anything that ways 50kg that crashes into Earth is a threat, and the problem is the speed something is coming at. For example, if you did a cannonball into a swimming pool the more you weighed and the faster you hit the water, the bigger the ripple around you.

  • I see...Asteroids travel at a very high speed...and one the size of a car will probably do some major dammage (If a 50Kg object is a threat)

  • No, the car sized asteroid did nothing but explode. They tracked it.

  • Comment removed

  • People should learn from Futurama and create something the same size and then make it deflect the other. Lol.

  • 2880...nah, they'll just fire lazers or some epic shit at it!

  • lol

  • 2880...Cmon we have like super tech by then.

  • A sound weapon may do the trick.

  • Sound weapon in vacuum =3 We all wish for that ay?

  • they will send Rambo and he will turn it in other direction.. If he doesn`t succed, Conan and Chuck Norris surely will

  • And by that time wouldn't the crusts shift appart making either a super contenent or a lot of small contenents? But by that time we might have colonized the moon or found a way to turn mars into a beautifull utopia.

  • Well can't we fire a nuke strapped to a hydrogen bomb straped to a spaceship? Or maybe make a giant array of satalites that act almost like a missle defence???

  • a car sized asteroid does so much dmg?

  • On the 16th of march 2880 mankind will have long since suffocated on it's own garbage so who gives a shit?

  • this is the REAL 2012 BITCH!

  • @mrquazu NO IT AINT THE EARTH WAS MENT TO END ABOUT 800 YEARS AGO DUMBASS BUT NO IT DIDNT JUST COS THE CALENDA SHOWS 2012 AND NO MORE IT DONT MEAN ITS GANNA BLUDY END DIPSHIT

  • @TheSniper158 go look up sarcasm in the dictionary

  • sorry carnt find it :) could you please explain what it means? :) ty

  • 16/3/2880? can we have it give or take an hour please?

  • We could put the retired Hubble telescope on this asteroid with an accompanying transmission tower complex and launch it into solar orbit.

This would be extremely simple as a consortium undertaking on the part of A.E.A. The America-Europe-Asia Aerospace Consortium consisting of a conglomerate of scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs to the absolute exclusion of all governmental interference.

  • Nuclear pulse space engines produced on a moon base would use near-earth asteroids as space exploration platforms. The mass of the asteroid could be used as "fuel" as well by mining the stern into small pieces and ejecting them by a shape memory catapult causing thrust without ignition. The minute gravity would retain an escape vessel acting as the bridge that would return a human crew to Earth or to a moon or asteroid belt base. They could be used to mine water from the ort cloud as well.

  • Wow if they make a career for that it would be so cool.

  • definitely a career opportunity, outla. But you or some other individual would have to start the company. There are forty trillion dollars floating around out there in the global money pool whose owners are just waiting to throw it at you.

In space, a vehicle and platform doesn't need shape, only mass. Near earth asteroids could then become an opportunity rather than a hazard. They could be harvested. Piece of cake. "Science Platforms Incorporated"... Don't wait for NASA to do it.

  • If the asteroid smashed into the Earth?!

Well I don't know about that. That seems really Earth centric. I mean, think about it. You are this meteor hurtling through space minding your own business when this strange solar system comes out of nowhere, in your path and starts whipping you around then a planet called Earth pulls you into it forcefully and explodes you. Sounds like it is the Earth that is the aggressor here to me.

This message brought to you from the coalition of meteoric equality.

  • its true what they say...

there's always two sides to a story.

  • worry about global warming first!

  • after this crashed worry about global cooling?!

  • Amen....... 1 to 300 chance To hitting EARTH in 16 march 2880.

  • So, are we actually going to do anything, or will we just study it?

  • "on the 16th of march, the year 2880"

I think we have time for a quick smoke break

  • Meteor is coming!

  • What happened to the 2012 ELE asteroid? The lizards had 65 million years on this Earth but we're only going to get a few 100 thousand; that sucks! lol

  • AAARRRRRRH

  • My bet: no human lives that long. Human population is growing so fast, I bet we will only last about 100 more years, maybe 200...

  • over population is unlikely to lead to extinction. What would likely happen is much famine and war caused by lack of resources and competition. The effect s of this, though horrible would stabilize the population. It happens often in nature, so far we've staved it off with technology.

  • If this was the case with any other spicie, I would agree. The problem is, that humans care TOO much about human rights. Every human has the right to live, and we use way to much resourses to help people that for example are going to die anyways. I'm not saying its a bad thing, not at all, I'm just saying its not a very smart thing to do, when that person is going to do nothing good to the society.

  • pappegye, are you a member of the bilderberg group,or are you related to ezekiel emanuel? lol

  • Nope :P

    Never heard of em :P

But that's just my opinion ;P

  • 2880, only 871 years left... hurry hide xD

  • 2880 we will all be driving around on the USS enterprise by then, it would be sooner if more money was put forward to help out space missions, considering space is mankinds future yet, people seem to be more interested in giving billions to banks, and only millions to space

  • nah. billions to space, but trillions for war. what does that say? we also are neglecting that there is little funding to help stop climate change. meanwhile, the world will be messed up before we can go to space. all because humans cant seem to respect eachother's differences.

  • the UK government gave £220 million to ESA yet gave £37billion to banks, climate change will not matter if we can get to space in the next 100 years

  • Oh yes it will; Terraforming = artificial climate change on a massive scale

  • but if humans are in space it doesnt matter as all heavy industry will be off the planet and pollution would drop tremendously , climate change has been blown out of all proportion any way, the government always has to make the populous fear something and its now climate change, just like swine flu/bird flu/terrorists

  • a 1/300 chance of hitting us in 2880 wow 871 years from now glad i'm not yoda

  • there will be no fuel left that date... no rockets, no rescue missions :)

  • renewable energy perhaps.

  • Year after year media scare people's about apocalypse.

Fuck it u don't change anything.. if we gonna die.

  • we wil all be dead by then so i cay who cares

  • What a joke it would be if we're too busy fighting wars and bickering and we end up getting killed by an impact--instead of realizing that it's something that could completely destroy us at ANY TIME--and we're doing almost nothing about it.

NASA, et al, are NOT currently tracking every possible dangerous asteroid. We could be smacked and NOT KNOW it was coming--or know perhaps only weeks in advance.

  • fifa 2880 :))

  • Thanks god we won't play that stupid sport in 2880

  • Wait, 2880? I'm definitely sure that we'll have a solution to take it out before it even reaches within 1k km.

  • i'll be dead by the :) wooohoooooooooo

  • LOL 2880.

    we don't have to worry

  • You may not plan on living that long but i do, singularity here i come!

  • if an asteroid hits im blaming obama

  • blow the fucking thing up. debree would be too scattered away to be any thread to us. small rocks ussually just vaporize when they enter the atmosphere.

  • well that really depends on the size of the asteroid...

These objects are moving thousand of of mph , so instead of 1 object moving "5k mph+"

we would then have probably hundred of pieces..

Moving that fast.. it still could do a pretty good amount of damage.

  • did you not hear the year it was gonna crash? 2,880.

it's not like we're gonna recieve all the debree, at that time it should be so spread out it's just gonna go around us, and maybe a few unfortunate pieces would end up here. also by that time we should be able to take on bigger rocks.

  • well we almost got hit by 1-2 i believe last year, do there is NO guarantee, that scientist are always right... They admit the cant track all asteroid out there...

I will not be suprised if they came out with a sooner date...

  • let's hope not.

  • 1 in 300 chance an astroid will collide with earth in 2880...r u serious...lets just sick to the problem of global warming for now please

  • March 16, 2880?

I am not worried and I have saved 192,437 jobs this year.

  • hehe water explodes :D animation sucks.

  • TRUE??

  • WE ARE GONNA DIE !
