Punk happened because the last generation of parents and or the system they had in place sucked/was evil. Punk rightly reacted against it with hate and anger. The best way to end the fucked up system that gave rise to "punk" is to not carry over that evil into the next generation. Your dad was a drunk that beat you? Don't become a drunk who beats his kids because dad did that to you. Dad left you? Don't leave your kids. That's punk.
All you fucking idiots need to realize that punk is not just a sound, it's a feeling inside you. Just because some of these guys are in bands that don't sound like Minor Threat doesn't mean that they aren't punk.
@kylevsqz Your right. It's not a sound. its my way of life. It's my beliefs. It's how I fucking live. I absolutely love punk. No, I'm not old enough to have had the chance to see many of the founders of punk, but I've been around long enough to experience a good chunk of it. It's how you live.
@remcomater336 You must be new. Michael Balls Balzary (aka Flea) grew up with the punk scene in the 70s to today. Just because the Chili Peppers aren't necessarily a punk group today, doesn't mean that's not how they started.
Ok, I saw it, and it was as brilliant as I had hoped; very moving, and the essence to me was brought home beautifully: bonding with your babies, children and families is The most important thing. Many of them said they were into punk anarchy drama because of a lack of a father or role model. Damn. They choose to love now & love beings Fathers!! HUGS all around!

@MrBigSten I really want to know too! It sounds like the vocal melody from "untitled" by blink 182 played on piano, but then when it breaks in to guitar, it's not quite like the regular song... guess I'll finally watch the movie tonight and maybe find out!
@MrBigSten I recently emailed the the director of the documentary asking about the song (I really like it too). She stated that she believes that it was recorded just for the trailer.
Blink 182, Everclear, and Rise Against were punk? I must be old if these are considered punk bands. The first 2 were the bands the freshmen and sophmore skaters idolized. Rise Against sounds like every "pop rock" band formed in the last decade. These were top 40 hit bands. Pop is more like it.
I love RHCP, and Flea is awesome, but punk they are not. More like a ska, funk, and classic rock blunt. Even their really old stuff would hardly be considered punk.
@digitalintent Blink-182 had a more pop lean, Rise Against, from what i hear, have a more contemporary hard rock sound, but Everclear in their early days were punk.
tattoo clad misfits are frowned upon as parents in modern day society witch disgusts me. its proven that punk parents raise the best children, the children are less likely to discriminate "different" people and know how to think outside of the box.
about time there was a show made like this, i cant wait, punk rock foreverrr!
Hey all you feel gooders out there, don't forget that these are about extremely successful "punkers". It's all peaces and cream... I want to see the movie about the ones who were the real punkers.. the ones who didn't make it, sell their soul to major record labels, and keep fighting...but I will admit, I have not seen the movie..so hate on me as you will, till I see the flick....
@EquestrianSport You've just won the award for Critical Comment with Thought, not often given out in the comment section of youtube. To claim your award, you will have to swim through a lake of flame, enduring shouts of "fuck you, man, Blink 182 are fucking awsome" and "what the fuck do you know, fucking horse homo" as well as the "I-can't-read-that-far" cries of "it's a trailer retard, have seen the film? Shut the fuck up!". Good luck.
BRAVO to this production! I've worked in the "father involvement" arena for many years. there's nothing like a movie we can relate to, to shift the way we view things.
Flea is the most surprising to me. none of the other are as shocking for some reason. Flea reminds me of Animal from the Muppets. I have always associated the two

But the whole idea of making the transition from rebel to authority figure is bullshit. @enjoythesummer92 then my friend you think wrong. just because RA gained so much popularity over years doesn't mean they're overrated. their songs are so full of meaning, motivation, conviction and hope and transcribable to almost every situation in life. so I don't know how u come to this conclusion. just don't tell me u'd love him more if he would play in some basements in front of 20 people...

It is funny how some just really hate my Conservative views. Even part of my family hates me. More and more, it seems I am becoming the “punk” because the left is taking hold and I stand against it. Punk Conservative is almost an oxymoron but who knows what tomorrow holds.
@maddmatt3131 I guess you can also be a nazi skinhead and gay or muslim, words r just that, words.
You can dress as a punk but if you're conservative you are just a punk facade. Nothing to do with punk, Punk is anti-authoritarian, anticapitalist and anarchic.
@panzerfausto Punk is everything and nothing all at once. You don't have to be pro or anti anything. You can be republican or liberal or third party in your political beliefs. You can be Religious or Athiest etc. By the way someday you will realize that the whole I hate the system anarchy thing is complete bullshit. A world without rule of law would be worse then what we have today. No cops, noone to catch serial killers, rapist and child molesters.
@totalchaos09 Another person with not a clue of what anarchism means and who feels it can patronize me knowing shit about anarchism. Read Bakunin, Kropotkin and then you come back to me and tell me that I will someday realise anar
