  • YOUR NAME IS JOHN SMITH!!! LMAO!!! I thought it was a joke. Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

  • I don't need a test cuz I'm a virgin! xD (note I 15 so yeah...)

  • @ookamiroxaskun13 Don't kid urself man ... could of gotten HIV from a doorknob or a toilet seat or almost anywhere because people bleed all the time. Go get a blood test!

  • @justanote7 I would need an open wound and there would need to be a lot of blood on the doorknob. Also, I do not use public restrooms unless I absolutely must, so that rules out toilet seats.

  • HIV transmitted through blood. normal sex between a guy and girl (not anal) where his sperms doesn't reach her blood. But in gay sex the anal muscle is bleeding because it was made to pass thing out of the body

  • You get HIV because you use your body the wrong way.

  • One other thing too, is that if you're a student at a four university the student health center can do it for cheap. Local clinics can do it for you too cheap or, on World Aids day for, give out free HIV testing. Thanks Couver.

  • WHY DO you test so much if you are having safe sex?

  • stop anal sex unless you are with a clean partner and you won't get aids

  • @karmalevel You're not allowed to say that in the U.S.; it's not politically correct.

  • @eswyatt I know sad huh?

  • I totally agree with being regularly tested - not that big a deal really. But I disagree with the antiquated assumption "As gays, we are more at risk." We're not, because the awareness for safer sex is quite a lot higher among gay people.

  • @Vassago85 uh hunny, have you seen the recent HIV reports in this country? it's on the increase with gay men significantly. google it!!!

  • @karmalevel I suppose this country is the US? since I'm from Europe, I think I took our latest statistics I knew.. it's quite alarming, if it's true :S

  • You look so different with those glasses on! You actually remind me of this guy that works at my Starbucks with them on xD

I think people should get checked more frequently than once a year. Every 6 months is good, but if you are really active then I'd go every 3 months.

  • your name is ACTUALLY john smith?!? awesome

  • umm is it wierd that im upset that hes having sex? im fucking jealous I WANT HIM ALL TO MYSELF.

  • Ur name is John Smith? That is like the most common name EVER!!!!! :). Anyways. Good message. Lol

  • I really lIke the message in this video i was test recently when my College Pride club held a free HIV testing clinic and it was a great feeling to know that I am in the clear! Everyone should get tested regularly!

  • Yearly check-up Mhmm :) what you be doin'...lol jk

  • Nice Shades, have burberry ones like those XD, pulling off an ijustine as well now i see!

  • prob a bit late in commenting I liked the idea of you doing a vid like this because its seems like a lot of gay and bi guys dont care about themselfs or anyone else and all they want is one night stands with un protected sex and thats the main reason that H.I.V is big the the gay and bi comunity there are other groups that are at higher risk than us yet they can still give blood but we cant your thoughts on that? blessings of love and light

  • If it's not a test for "AIDS" and not a Blood Test for "HIV" but rather a non specific antibody test why would you encourage people to take an unreliable test? Do you realize that this can cause millions of people to be misdiagnosed based on frequent false positive and PPV of low risk setting? Nuns have tested positive. Dogs have tested positive on these fraudulent antibody tests. see youtube user HouseofNumbers and TheHealthRanger

  • Gays are at a greater risk?... If I recall, there are more straight people with AIDS/HIV than gays, I think on both percentage and population... How are we at "more risk"?

However, I do like that you're putting this out there. It's important, not just for gays, but for straights and bis as well.

  • @kevkajdas lol google it. a study just came out last wk that said HIV rates are significantly up in gay men! stop killing yourselves!!!

  • Is that the ASU health center? I'm pretty surprised that you weren't on hold for like 2164124291 hours. Haha

  • Got tested two days ago :)

  • @SummerSnowTv was the result good?

  • Let the imminent inaugurate.

    So bewail my elfin cherub,

You can in perpetuum and always,

  • Here, in Brazil, we have the "CTA" (Test and Advice Center) spread throughout the country.

Is simple! Just go to one of those CTAs, give your I.D and make test of HIV,Siflis, Hepatitis B and C.

It takes 30 minutes and is for free.

Love u, Couver! (Sorry my Bad English :S)

  • Aww! You're beautiful! Such a trend-setter :)

    Definitely a good cause!

Also, I knew your name before, but I'll not on it this time because you mentioned it haha!

John and Smith are like, the two most general names used in existence. Like, you know what I mean?

It's not a bad thing, just there would be so many of you running around! haha! <3

  • This is great! It's just that easy, so refreshing to see someone taking a stand and showing us all how its done. Way to go!

  • Well I dated someone breifly who was HIV positive and we kissed and that was the extant of it........is there a possibility I could have it? there was no bloos or open sores involved.

  • if you like this video check out brokencondoms1 the fuckups

  • love it :]]]]

getting tested after unprotected sex :(

  • This is seriously no joke. Getting tested is the best thing you can do for your body EVEN if you practice safe-sex and EVEN if you have a long standing partner. Consider getting tested together. You may be being loyal, but you never truly know what your partner is up to, and condoms don't always work, especially if your using a brand you pick up at a night club. And remember you can still become positive by performing oral without protection. Be safe. Be smart. Be free.

  • You rock. Thank you for addressing this topic! I am going to get tested within the next week myself. :-)

    -z-

  • John Smith? Do you by any chance know Pocahontas?

  • @keilah136 :P

  • wow...faggot

  • @skatebaitandfilm wow... ignorant.

  • your sunglasses are cute! where did you get them?

  • I'm looking for a boyfriend very much like you......

  • ure kidding !! ure name is really john smith !??!?!? the most common name and surname on earth

  • Good for you!

  • nice hair! Yes, I need to get checked up again. It is a good idea to get tested every three months, or so. There are a lot of places that will test you for STDs and HIV for free. My local gay club/bar has free check ups.

  • :p ^^love you

  • In BC most of the testing (other than saliva swabs which your doctor will do right away during a checkup) is done through a place called LifeLabs. I've had my blood taken from there, super quick, hardly hurt and I didn't even need an appointment.

If you're having sex, GO GET TESTED.

  • I'm glad to see that you're addressing this issue, Couver. It truly is crucial, albeit simple, to ensure that you attend to your sexual health.

And BTW, this may be your most badass look ever! I like it.

  • someone needs a REAL camera for vlogs... not carrying your computer and taping lol

  • awkward. been there so many times. HAHAHAHA

  • Just a heads up to anyone and everyone. Try and avoid using your regular doctor, or even having you name associated with your test. If you do happen to test positive the state will immediately be notify your health insurance company and in some cases your employer. It is best to have an anonymous test so you will have time to process everything before notifying anyone.

  • I just got my blood tested! I am HIV Negative! Peace.

  • Well done, my admiration for you grows.

  • John Smith? yikes

change your name to Couver! John Couver or Couver Smith or maybe even Couver C. Couver. (the C. stands for Couver)

  • Lol John Smith. But what am I saying? My last name is Sylliboy. I go for blood work on the regular, but it's not for HIV testing (cause I'm still a virgin and I don't do drugs) but it's so the doctors can check up on me if I'm regularly taking my medication. Lol. Embarrassing thing to say here, but oh well. Nobody really knows who I am anyways :)

  • John...Smith?

Wow, you really are perfect, haha

  • "As gays, we are more at risk." What the hell?? Being promiscuous doesn´t bepends on your sexuality, it depends in the kind of person you are.....I dont think being tested is something wrong or strange.....but being gay doesn´t give you a more percentage of having HIV positive -.-!

  • @LordDavid6 You could be right, however I am pretty sure I learned or read somewhere that gays are the highest community in the world who contracts HIV.

  • @Couver87 That is true, I think it's attributed to the large transition gap, where open homosexuality skyrocketed, but the knowledge of AIDS was little-to-none. At that point homosexual males didn't worry about pregnancy, and therefore felt less inclined to use protection. However that 'gap' is slowly falling, and homosexuals are closer to the "mean" of those with STD's, with African American Males falling close behind.

  • i love you!!!!!! ♥

lets run off and get maried LOL jkkkkk thats a little hard considering im a girl haha.. and ur a guy eww thats all straaaiiiight =X lol jk

  • @PaulaAbdulRoxxxx6 aw u dont wuv me too? haha friendly lovee =D

  • hyahaha " i just like to get my blood tested for STDs and stuff"

    lol

  • did i see your laptop in the reflection of you glasses? you are carrying around your laptop just to film?

  • Its sad that people still need to be told to go get tested

  • well I guess in this case captain smith and pocahontas didnt have a mad affair? lol

  • Very very retarded question....Uhm can you get H.I.V. through other methods other than sex or oral?

  • @Dancingfool721 yes. you can also get it by sharing a needle or being breastfed (probably not the case with you though). get info on how else it can spread! there are a few more ways!

  • @Dancingfool721 Its not retarded. And to answer your question...you can but it is hard. You have to swallow a gallon of the other person saliva, or they have to have an open cut and you have an open cut and if you rub up against them it could be contracted. The most common way it is spread however is through actual vaginal/anal sex.

  • @Couver87 Drug use is a huge method by which it is transmitted from sharing needles and other drug paraphernalia

  • @Couver87 contaminated blood transfusion, shared needles and if your mother has it while she is pregnant with you are pretty common "methods" too ;)

  • @Couver87 And sharing needles, of course.

  • @Dancingfool721 if you take drugs and share the needle you can get HIV as well

  • @Dancingfool721 Some are born with it, some acquire it. Yes, you can actually be born with HIV. It's said 90% of children born with it acquire it through the mother via birth, pregnancy or breastfeeding. 9/10 are children from Sub-Saharan Africa. You can Google AVERT for more on HIV/AIDS, sex, Gay-Lesbian, STDs. Hope you don't mind me putting an organization here John.

Like others have said: breastfeeding, needle, wounds. Saliva and oral sex are small to no risk ways to transmit the virus.

  • @Dancingfool721 I think you can also get it through sharing needles (for drugs) with someone that has it. And if your mother took (illegal drugs) while she was pregnant with you then you could become infected. And honestly, that was not a retarded question, a lot of people don't learn about this stuff and don't take an interest so the fact that you asked that question just shows that you want to know these things and (I assume) take precautions :) xx

  • @Dancingfool721

Any blood-blood contact. (Such as using used Needles, Kissing with open sores)

Blood Transfusions - (In America the risk is less than 1%)

Rinsing/Blood infested Water (Like if someone infected hits their head on the bottom of a pool.) - HIV can survive in water for only a few moments, even less in chlorinated.

Eating food that has been pre-chewed by an HIV-infected person. (Ew.)

Being bitten by a person with HIV.

-And Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes.

  • @Dancingfool721

lol Through intravenous drug use. Bad blood transfusion.

  • brand make and model of sunglasses and i'm good...

    thanks :)

  • PLEASE do this! I'm from the older days...BEFORE they knew what HIV was! I watched 18, EIGHTEEN, of my friends sicken and DIE! We must remain vigilant...no, we needn't be nuns, but we do need to practice safe sex...'cause, honey, sex is nothing to DIE about! And getting yourdelf tested is the first thing. Last time I had it done cost me around $35 but there are FREE clinics!

  • I'm so sorry for your friend. And excellent video

  • Thank you for posting this. I have forgotten how long it's been since I've been tested. It's something small, but I totally appreciate you doing this.

  • Anyone who is sexually active should get tested at least once a year. I get tested every 6 months. On top of the obvious of always using condoms... Your friend will be just fine. Hiv is no longer the death sentance it used to be. The newer meds are helping people live much longer than was thought possible at one time.

  • @hottmess33

But they also cost an arm and a leg.

  • I hate the idea of needle going into my body. I always get paranoid that there is virus on that needle and I have been hearing stories like that...

  • i love your hair!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope everything works out for your friend. its a sad thing to go threw not that i would know at all. just be there for him and i will keep you and him in my prayers. he needs you now more than ever john. take care.

p.s. good luck with your test

  • I am sorry about your friend.

Cost? All communities in the U.S. have free, anonymous HIV testing. It can even be tested for with a mouth swab now. (Not available everywhere yet.)

  • whats up with the wobbling?

  • In my medium town we can just walk in for a Rapid HIV Test.. kinda kewl..

  • yay for Smith's! i know theres like 500 million of us but but i always get excited to find another one!

  • I really hope this gets people to go get tested and to USE CONDOMS, since it's a "one-way ticket". There is no cure for HIV. Take care John! Hope your results come back negative for everything.

  • Hey John. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, It must no be easy at all. Fortunately medicine has evolved enough to give HIV+ people a very close to normal life, and I'm sure he'll be OK. It's more the social stigma that I'm worried about. Your tolerant friendship will be very important to him,no doubt about that. Thank you for addressing such an important issue.

  • It turned out he had herpes and gonorrhea. Let this be a lesson to all.

  • In my city I can get a rapid anonymous HIV test, and am able to get the result within minutes by finger prick. I go every six months regardless of how many partners I've had within that span.

  • I was under the impression that to get tested for HIV it required a different kind of blood test then the typical annual one that tests for cholesterol and such. I read somewhere that it takes 6 months minimum to get accurate results on HIV. Are you sure your appointment will check for HIV?

Also with the name John Smith I'm sure people asking for identification are always suspicious Although if you have a Fog watch you might be The Doctor ;D

  • So?

    What were the results?

  • The glasses are FIERCE, John!!! :) <3

  • You are AWESOME! I love everything you do, John. So inspiring. Yup.

    And shades look FLY

  • iam sorry about your friend hugs I got tested in February Everyone get tested

  • lol, my name is Joe Smith!

  • I've yet to actually knock boots, but when I do Imma make sure it's with someone I trust. I'm also gonna need a detailed printout of where you been, who you've been with, and how much you make(just for reference;). And if need be, I'll get myself tested every now and again--just to be safe:)

  • Should I go even though Ive never had sex? :O

  • I'm a virgin and I know that I am going to have sex one day.I kind of think that before I sleep with anyone I would ask them to give me proof that they've been tested and are STDs-free.I don't know if that's going too far or not so does anyone have any comment or opinion on that?

  • @lamike1982 I can tell you what I did. When I realized that I was in a relationship that was quickly evolving in the physical aspect, I decided that we both should go get tested. It was very important that my significant other at the time didn't feel like I was "suspecting" or "afraid" that they had an STD, but that we would both be more comfortable and with less worries if we knew none of us had anything. But I was in a deep and loving relationship, so it was ok to talk about stuff.

  • @lamike1982 Oh and I think that that is the only kind of relationship that you should lose your virginity in.

  • @lsbpt89 Thank you so much.I'm still new to the whole dating thing so I love to hear advice from people who have been through relationships.

  • A very important message which you deliver in a creative but fun manner. Great job! :-)

  • I love your hair in this video! Looks like mine on a good day haha

  • i have come out clean most of the times i got blood work done ... one time it looked like i had hepotitus ... could of been a results of the bedbugs i had because i have still yet to have sex ... i aksed about it later on and they never confirmed or denied it ... so i put it to the back of my head ...

the blood bank keeps taking my blood so .. i assume the best

  • So sorry to hear about your friend :( my uncle actually died of HIV five years ago April 5th and my living uncle has AIDs it's definitely not something to joke about ... People should get checked more often, because not only they could be at risk, but so could their partner... --------- Oh and for girls even if you're on birth control STILL HAVE MEN WEAR CONDOMS (or use the female condom) because you still risk yourself for catching an STD, OR passing it to your partner....

  • I was growing up when HIV was just becoming known. It was pounded into our heads "condoms condoms condoms". Sadly I have found out that some of my friends that I hadn't seen in a long time have either died from HIV/AIDS or are living with it. It's nothing to play around with.

  • i actually carnt get over you being called john smith! aha

you should be in england with me with a name like that!

    i need a pint now ;)

    added yah on facebook!

  • It's just so awkward. I know that sounds lame, but it's nerve racking.

  • OMG, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I myself, got the same news from a friend. :(

  • Nice designer stubble there.

  • How much does it cost?

  • @sinwhole82 It all depends what country you live in and the type of healthcare/insurance you have. For me, because I am a student and under the age of 24, I am under my parents healthcare. So it costed me 25 bucks. For other people it may be less it may be more. But none the less, why not call and ask>?

  • @Couver87 Thank you I will do that.

  • @Couver87 Wait...Do you actually have to PAY for that?! In France it's totally free... Holly crap, I didn't know it was possible!!

  • @Xelphiel Ohh yes, It is not free here. I am not sure if media picks up on our politics still, but its huge thing right now with Oboma trying to get a health care package passed so it one day could be free.

  • @Couver87 It's free in Canada too, obviously

  • @Xelphiel - France has the best medical system according to the WHO; just across the border in Switzerland the medical insurance will pay except for those like me who have a big deductable so I have to pay too.

  • @Xelphiel in germany its only free if you are a student/without a job etc and do it at the public health department. normally it's about 15€, but your health insurance pays for it.

  • @Couver87 Really??? You pay for this stuff??? In Australia it's free, to encourage people to make sure they are being socially responsible by not spreading the infection. Um. It is late so if that came out offensive, please insert and change text with all the tact that I can't muster right now :(.

  • @sinwhole82 In australia as a student i got the doctors appoinment bulk billed(ie the govt pays) and my doctor bulk bills most blood tests and things so it was free

  • @sinwhole82 live in the uk FREE HEALTHCARE woopwoop

    lol

  • Is your name actually John Smith?

  • @StevieInMotion Yes. It is actually. LOL

  • @Couver87 That's cool that you name is John Smith lol! I thought you might have made it up to protect your safety but I also thought you wouldn't lie to the test facility~!

  • @Couver87 Funny thing it that's Doctor Who's pseudonym.

  • @Cyberacc funny or NERDY?

  • @Couver87 LOL I didn't know that!:D That's awesome!! xD

  • @Couver87 that is so bad-ass, lol! do people ever think you could be a serial killer?

  • @morbus3000 nahhhh

  • @StevieInMotion I know... Lol I've always wondered that too, but never bothered to ask. :P Quite a convenient name to have if you're going to be on youtube and say your full name. Heh.

  • @austenwack He replied and said that actually is his name. lol. At least it is easy to remember. I wonder what his parents were thinking when they named him that lol. Maybe it was not generic back then. But, it is a good name anyway. I thought he was making it up to protect his safety.

My name is Stevie by the way. :) Nice to meet you austenwack.

  • @StevieInMotion Why thank you! It is quite nice to meet you too if I do say so myself! (I imagined I was a 52 year old college, ivy league professor puffing from a tobacco pipe as I said that... Lol, sorry.) I agree though it is easy to remember... I'm pretty sure John Smith has been a common name since pilgrims, though I'm not sure. Stevie... I feel like that's a very trendy/hipster name. Hopefully that doesn't offend you. It wasn't meant to offend you. :P

  • thank you for this <3

  • I totally agree that people should test themselves for this early, thank you so much :D <3
