Maybe it was my own painful teen years that I was going thru when this came out,(1999 High school Freshman) But like alot of us,this still gives me tears too.Barrymore did brilliant for a teen romantic comedy.

I know so many people who had a tough time watching this film because it dredged up so many bad memories of being treated poorly in high school. I will never understand why so many people are willing to allow or - by their silence - tacitly approve of bullying and mistreatment of fellow classmates.
