    Norm Martin

  • @drnmartin

It is an honor for me that one of our "ancient" of the WW2 as you is written this on one of my videos and on my chaine on YouTube

Respect and thank you by a current French soldier :-)

    PS :

Sorry for my bad english but I try ^^

  • @cumbas Your English is much better than my French. My French was much better 67 years ago, I'm happy to say. Merci beaucoup

Norman Martin, late of the 44th IField Artillery (attached to 22nd Infantry) 4th Infantry Division.

  • @drnmartin

    No problem my friend

    Bruno

Current "Adjudant" ("Chief Master Sergeant" for you Air Force) in the FAF (French Air Force) :-)

  • @drnmartin Hello, I saw that you were a veteran of the army of the United States and have fought in France. I was wondering if you knew James Cecil Overton?

  • @nico33852 I don't think so. Would you know if he was in 1st Bn 22nd Infantry Regiment during the Normandy campaign?

  • @drnmartin I do not know much about James Cecil Overton was my great grandfather.

He had a son named Edward Marshall Overton

  • Respond to this video...

I don't think so. Would you know if he was in 1st Bn 22nd Infantry Regiment during the Normandy campaign

If not it would be a remarkable coincidence if I did

  • @drnmartin James Cecil Overton lived in Virginia.

  • @drnmartin

Sure a very big remarkable coincidence even ^^

  • Tremblez, ennemis de la France!

    Tyrans descendez au cercueil!

  • COOOL!!!!

  • For France ! For freedom !

  • @thelordnazgul76

    +1 :-) ^^

  • Hello Cumbas,

I enjoy your postings, immensely and I have learned from them. France has given many gifts to the world; gifts which you celebrate with pride: freedom, the sovereignty of the people, and l the Rights of Man.

    Arthur

  • You understood my objectives by creating this channel

And with you at least ^^, i reached it :-)

thank you for these words friend

  • Puis-je suggérer: "We're ready to vanquish or die"

Merci de faire partager ce chant magnifique!

  • Tu peux, tu peux ;)

Mais on touche là à un niveau dans de la langue anglaise que je n'ai pas pour avaliser personnellement

il va nous falloir plusieurs avis d'éminents anglophones pour faire le choix ^^ lol

    ;-)

  • "Let's know vanquish or let's know perish" is not a good translation. It makes no sense in English. You can't translate that line word-for-word to get the sense. It should be more like :"Whether we live, or we die."

  • Ok thanks for these better translations

And if you want to be "my" english translator no problem for me ^^ ;-)

  • lets us know victory, or let us know death?

how is that for a translation?

  • Faxe90Swe, the Bourbons were not the same as Napoleon, so don't pretend they were. Louis XVIII was a terrorist. He was placed on the throne, not popularly selected or elected. Second, Louis was hunting down republicans from the past, causing disarray. Furthermore, Louis sold out France. He also was ruining the military. The people wanted Napoleon, only a few foreign tyrants and terrorist royalists didn't. If you believe in popular sovereignty and democracy, then Napoleon was right

  • History's greatest tragedy:That Napoleon lost at Waterloo. Had he won, Europe would have had peace for hundreds of years, maybe even forerver.

  • not in Waterloo my friend, but on the sea in Trafalgar...

cose we dont forget that, contrary to the english propaganda, it was not France the problem, it was not France or Napoleon who want war, it was especially England...

it was England who always pushed in the shadow all others autocratics kingdoms to attack France even when treaty of peace was signed (you can search...)

    ...

  • If France won in Waterloo, i know that again and again after several months, England would have still pushed the others autocratics kindgoms to a new war vs France

    ...

  • England was too afraid to once see this enormous French Republic (France at this time alone weighed more than all the other kingdoms together practically) in peace would thrive economically under the direction of a genius of organization like Napoleon until competing with it and reversing the English dictatorship on the world commerce

    ...

  • England was rich by all the richnesses of the remote colonies which England only reserved in a dictatorial way to it thanks to its Royal Navy

England thanks to its Navy prohibited whith the others Nations the freedom of trade with the colonies, you don't forget that also to understand perfectly this time and the geopolitic of this time

    ...

  • and that , France in peace and thrives, the enormous market of 30 million inhabitants who it was would never have accepted it and to let make by England and could once have fought it in peace with all the other kingdoms of Europe, with all its power vs England alone

    ...

  • Want to destroy the noble ideas of the French Revolution (freedom and sovereign people) that Napoleon and France spread with the other people of Europe, was not only reason which pushed England

it was also that which England wanted to destroy :

the possibility that France in peace and too powerful for it becomes the first world economic power and not authorizing England drive alone in a dictatorial way, the trade with the remote colonies and so the world trade

  • looks also my little video here for example,

    /watch?v=avHbE2N6cGE

my "love" is just the truth, the truth about History, about history of my country and of Europe vs all false propaganda about History

And England was always very strong in this subject of false propaganda ^^

  • You are waging propaganda war here, so don´t talk about the "truth". And don´t forget that France kept the institutions created by the revolution and Napoleon after his abdication, so there was really no need for Napoleon to return from Elba... only pure selfish reasons. He made sure that almost 50, 000 more men died in vain during the Hundred days campaign, just because he wanted to restore his name... don´t glorifie him like that, he was a selfish bastard.

  • BS.

  • ????

  • Vive l'Empire

  • No side in a war is right. War is an abomination triggerring feelings of hatred and revenge, retaliation and cruelty. Soldiers are mostly misled and their genuine love for country misused by unscrupulous politicians and generals. No nation is better or worse than another. We are all human and imperfect with the sme flaws.

  • the world will be so much beautifull if everybody had your vision

But wake up, open your eyes, and stop your naive idealism

the world and much more person in the world dont think like it unfortunatly

Much more fanaticism, religious or political or racism...

And we will must always fight vs it if you want to be free man and ina free world for men like you and me speak in perfet freedom now

    ...

  • Who logical and true human person love Wars and its tragedies ??

Nobody & especially not me of course (and i know and i live wars in my job)

    I'm also a philanthropist

BUT if what we like, if our "way of live", our freedom to think and to be, are in danger because fanaticism (all fanaticsm religion, political, or racism), it's necessary to act vs that

you with your naive mind, you will not do anything and they are other men and women who will die that you can speak like a free man

    ...

  • Unfortunately when one does not have the choice it'is necessary to fight for his freedom and th' freedom of those which one like & to forget its philanthropy to see the world such as it is really

  • Here, Here!. War is a better choice than to be enslaved. Tyrants should beware, for they do will die... preferably at the hands of Freemen.

  • I don't know to whom you address your words but you say exactly what I say to the top

  • Then I assume that you oppose the EU and our royalty here in Europe.

  • I oppose the European Union as an autocratic superstate. The difference between Poland and Spain is far greater than the difference between Scotland and England or Texas and Maine... I especially oppose the use of the phony plebisicite to spread the European Project. Just wait until Albania, Ireland or other small countries attempt to the leave the EU and you'll see its true colors

  • Exactly my opinion. Also, Texas and Maine and England and Scotland are states of the same cultural sphere and share the same langauge... we can´t expect that, say, France and Poland would fit as properly together.

  • Scotland and England the same language and same culture ?? !!!

    loooool

Please don't speak about that you don't know...

and especially don't say that to a true Scotish Patriot (& me i'm more friends from Scotland) if you want to keep your live ^^

for your culture, Scotland (the true scotland) is so much different of England in all, culture, language, ect..

it's just the invasion of English who imposed the english language and customs from England in Scotland

    ...

  • But in the beggining (& also now in much more things ^^) Scotland & true scotish (not english immigrated to live in Scotland ^^) are of course more different of England & english, even much more than all our brothers countries of our UE nowaday!!

you don't play to the Rugby in Sweden but watch the next European tournement of six Nations of Rugby (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy & England) to understand very well the idiotics things that you think about UK even nowadays...

  • Scotland and England do share the same language (Scots Gaelic is not the language of the majority of Scots). More important than language though is the common political culture. Scots and English are used to parliamentary Democracy, etc

  • I forgot, I don't have anything agaisnt Royalty. I think the Constiutional role of the current incarnation of the British Monarchy is a bulwark of liberty.

  • Its your point of view my friend

Your point of view of non-french, non-republican and Spanish has which have learned a Spanish truth

But for us it differently see.

    I explained :

When one wants to speak and analyze historical facts, one must with an objectivity and an analysis of the facts out of all thought patriotic mind...

  • 1- The roles should not be reversed it should not be forgotten that they are all the Kingdoms and the despotic and autocratic kings of Europe (of which your country) which IN FIRST and every years between 1789 and 1815 attacked France and the young French Republic to destroy it and destroy the ideas that it represented : Freedom and Sovereign People.

The kings were too afraid which these ideas spread with their people and vs their absolute reign like in France

    ...

  • And YES if the young Republic became an Empire its especially because that and because you who did not stop attacking it!

It has counter-attack and preferred as all countries that the war is done in the countries of its enemies and not in France

Napoleon himself summarized this thought very well while saying :

    The Empire, its Peace

  • Try to think of this sentence without your patriotic education

Try to place you in the place of the French republicans for once in order to better analyzing and seeing only your side of the things

And YES if you had stopped never attacking the young French Republic it would not have become an Empire and never it would have counter-attack and you would have been invaded!!

    ...

  • The young Republic did not want the war

Napoleon himself did not want the war

They are your despotic kings and your kingdoms who wanted and have caused the war without stops between 1789 and 1815

Thus, YES the roles should not be reversed my friend

  • When one wants to analyze a precise time, a historical fact, its necessary to remain and think as it was thought at this time if one wants to judge acts as well as possible

To speak for example about the agreements of Geneva if one speaks about battles of the Middle Ages or Napoleonean and to conceive them as a current man are ridiculous and false

    ...

  • THUS yes any French soldiers (but not teh whole this propaganda should be stopped) made massacres of revolted Spanish which they regarded as enemy soldiers

BUT there too they answered massacres made before by these revolted who did not comply with the rules of the war of this time

    ...

  • It is necessary that you imagine the French soldier who was sure to fight for the nice and true camp and freedom and which had overcome and occupied Spain as the peace treaty envisaged it (always in the principle of occupying the enemy territory to prevent that they continue to attack us in our territory as it did it since 1789, the famous Empire it is peace)...

  • ...was not to make the war in Spain normally and did not risk anything any more, found his comrade, his brother, head torn off and nailed in the doors of the houses or in trees!

He had a hatred growing and be more wild in repression, BUT LIKE his ennemies of this time

Thus massacres yes there were, BUT by the 2 camps!!

  • 3- And especially one should not forget what you owe, which we owe, to these men, this people of France of 1789 and of Empire which fought despotic kings and autocrats during 25 years, sacrificing itself whereas they would have preferred to live in peace in their young Republic promised with a brilliant future

    ...

  • It should not be forgotten if we speak as a free man now, if one selected those which drive us, if one is free and sovereign people, these are especially because these men that you don't love were the first in Europe to be revolted vs the tyranny and the despotism of the kings

And without them one does not know where we would be currently...

  • THUS tries to re-examine your position and to analyze without reflecting with your education which learn you that evil was French and the nice was Kingdoms

Its completely false and just propaganda to say that!

The evil and the good were in the 2 camps!!

And for me and mine of course, the evil was + in the camp of Kingdoms that in the camps of Republic and Empire ^^ ;-)

  • BUT past is past and now you must think the present and our future because our future will be together or will not exist quite simply...

Long Live the United States of Europe!!!
