  • he says 2400 meters above sea level, but the subtitle says 1700 meters.. wtf translator??

  • wait so why is high altitude running good?

  • @atonic08 because theres less oxygen higher up , they get used to having less oxygen and adapt to it, then in the races back at low altitude they are fitter and get less puffed out

  • mum, instead of complaining, use the opportunity to build your city and attract foreign runners. i hear the ministry of tourism is spending money to rennovate the stadium and help attract tourist to your town. why not look for funds to expand roads and build trails to help with congestion. mom, i would urge you to pursue business marketing, planning and expansion. these runners are going to boost the economy in the area if you take the right steps.

  • lol thats the second dutch documentairy on rocketboom

  • no, it isnt. there are far more, newfag.

  • Man I wish I could understand Dutch...I live in Denver, so I kinda know what altitude training is like

  • theres subtitles

  • I use to run at these paces every other day at 10K with wrist and ankle weights on. But I lost my touch.

  • The pase that they train is incredible.

  • @MrRedskins0021

    try pace

  • Is this guy speaking Dutch, German, or Afrikaans?

  • @SendaiPajamas

    He's talking Dutch.

  • not a single one white man runner , dang

  • How is winning the Olympics going to lead to prosperity?

  • it helps bc, when you have high class runners in the city training, it attracts more world class runners, apparel sponsors and , media. they need aplace to live, eat hence boosting the economy of the town. economics 101

  • It's like Sparta but for runners =D

  • hah that explains it

  • Those guys are insane runners

  • The mayor looks like my old french teacher.

  • @K2Tanner cool story bro

  • lederhosen

  • 0:14 They're really cooling down :D

  • Um,

they say: "vierentwintighonderd (2400) meter boven de zee spiegel." and you translated it to: 1700 meter.

    Just lettin you know ^^

  • heheh, I was gonna make this comment too...

  • Per varios usus artem experientia fecit.

  • I love this channel!

  • x) Nederlands

  • omg! trading shoes of runners

  • I hope they win =-)

    poor people vs money

  • Waarom die vervelende ondertiteling. Dit is toch prima te verstaan Nederlands!

  • Niet iedereen hier is Nederlands hè?

  • this is really cool stuff. its nice to see how they can still thrive without any modern technology of equiptment. Just free running in a clean natural enviroment.

at 1:00 omg if thats theyre constant pace then theyre beasts! thats almost my sprinting speed hahaha

  • Iten is about 2400 m above sea level overlooking the Rift Valley from the west.

    watch?v=S01845y6L98

  • Hmmmm..... gives me a good business idea.

  • @1:00 that is a FAST run.

  • I live at 4,327 ft above sea level. When I go down to sea level running is far easier. It's actually low oxygen training and not really about the height.

  • ha i just caught a typo in the translation. and since my german is very basic, so is the mistake. :)

  • AMERICA FUCK YEAH

  • and who the hell you are to approve comments ?

  • Id like to live somewhere of high altitude...a clear example of how your environment works on you as an organism...the environment & its effects are invisible to the average eyes, but if you are attentive you'll observe how closely peoples moods & personality are changed just by small shifts in the weather..like I notice how much the mood will change when a cloud passes in front of the sun for a few minutes & people become solemn..then the sun comes back out and suddenly the energy is back up..

  • I train at 2300 meters every year for distance running, but these guys are studs.

  • so people will need a permit to run? dumb.

  • This video is awesome!!! Finally some good news about Africa. Im tired of only hearing the bad stuff about africa in my world Studies class. Thanks Rocketboom!!!

  • you know you're right, its good to start hearing some good news.

  • lol i live at 3600 ft above sea level

  • 3600 ft is only about 1100 meters.

    They're about 600 meters (2000ft) above you.

  • Wow!

  • these guys are training for the olympics and that jerks complaining about traffic!

and why is molly not in this...lame.

  • 1700 is a good altitude to train because most of stadiums at near the sea level

also they train there to get a better pulmonary capacity so when go to sea level they get more oxygen on blood

other exaple are Peru and Bolivia ppl that live at high altitudes they got big chests and short legs

  • wooot Dutch!

    awesome

  • NEDERLANDS!!

  • I love these random stories from africa. Nice to get an insight into foreign culture. Thanx!!

  • Hee! Wat leuk! Rocketboom in nederlands! (afrikaans feitelijk. maar maakt er niks uit.)

  • lol, kenyans

  • that aint high altitude, ive went to stay to a city which is at nearely 3000 meters above sea level

  • 1700 is nothing. the real altitude of the location is 2400, which is still pretty low, the reason they are so good is because they are black.

  • 0:13 , wtf hes smoking?!? im confused....

  • it's because it's probably chilly up there, so when he runs, he gets hot and his sweat gets condensed. Like when you exhale warm air on a cold day.

  • You know when you breath out on a cold day and fog replaces your breath? It's that.

  • ahh, i see now, it just seemed a bit strange but it makes sense, thanks

  • NEDERLAND!!! OLE OLE OLE.

    Is Rocketboom dutch!? O_O

  • Humanwire rules.

  • Lol, the altitude as in the story of the narrator is 2,400 meters and 1,700 meters in the subtitles.

  • When I read the comments, it seems that almost half of them are from Dutch speaking people, LOL

Is dat nou niet grappig of wat?

  • No wonder they win so many medals at the olympics. the moroccans and ethiopians also do the same high altitude training.

  • 'Walk to the well'

  • hey ^^

  • 27 Million (wikipedia) people speak Dutch.

  • @ethoxyethaan including me, which no1 cares about, good video, and yeah, the translation is good

  • yes....go on.

  • Translation error at 0:12. The narrator said 2400, not 1700 :P.

Interesting video nonetheless I guess.. kinda random tho.

  • We are just really excited when anything on youtube comes in our language ^_^ it's kind of rare...

  • is it dutch flemish or afrikaans?

  • afrikaans

  • it's in Africa, but not Afrikaans... if that makes sense. It's the "real" Dutch XD
