Once upon a time i thought CCR were kind of weird being from the Berkeley area and sounding so southern, but the man (JForgerty) responded to what he loved and he played it from his heart. Never heard what Marvin thought of this version, but I am sure he loved the royalty checks it earned him!

Basically, the last half of this cover is just drum and guitar MADNESS and that's what I love about these guys, their way of playing a song. Not only is the 10minute+ version by CCR the best-by-far version of this, but would be in the running for the best cover version of any song. When I was a kid I thought this was sung by a black woman from the late 60's gospel/soul era. Obviously its not and ive known this for ages but it shows how good they are.  Soul, gospel, country, and what ever else you can think of wrapped up into one.
