i like comodo but they need to work on thier sandbox for example alienware controller tell it not to isolate program and also have it in trusted programs,it remembers it until you reboot 2nd time it asks again and puts it back into sandbox.other then that thier a good product.
The backdoor was already blocked and sandboxed so it couldn't do anything. And when you scan with Ccleaner, remember to click "Run Cleaner" so you can remove it.
Dress it up as much as you like, the fact is Comodo Internet Security failed. It let infected files onto the HDD when it should've prevented them, then it couldn't remove the damned things when it found them in a scan. How you can say that 'you're not worried about them' being on your HDD is a total farce. I respect your videos, but c'mon.. if you really want comodo to improve, tell it like it is, not just what they want to hear!
So what you're saying is Comodo left 2 viruses on the HDD (one of them very nasty), and couldn't delete them both using a full Comodo scan, had to use CCleaner to get shut of the temp file, and then tell us that Comodo is one of, if not the best antimalware software available? I'm sorry mate, if a Virus gets on your HDD, the AV has failed, whether or not it's running in memory. Granted, Comodo is the best FREE AV out there, but please stop touting it as the best AV you can use.
@2dayCA You could if you really want to, Comodo is definately much better, but uninstalling and installing programs can be annoying if you are lazy like me:P I also reccommend you get ThreatFire and some on-demand scanners like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.
@2dayCA@2dayCA MSE is terrible, ive done virtual machine tests and it just cant stand up to viruses ive had multiple viruses slip though with no alert or and problem. the top programs to use 1# is ZoneAlarm Extreme Security, everything is vertual, so u cant even possible get infected, i can give u a key to use it if you like. go to their site and also check out languys review of it.HIGHLY RECOMMEND ZONEALARM . and #2 is Comodo.
@2dayCA well of course you should switch to comodo,,it goes without saying.mse is only a anti-virus.a good anti-virus i should add .but comodo has the lot....firewall,hips,anti-virus etc.plus its free.i dont of any other security suite that offers this for free..
just for the record julian i dont actually believe you are being biased toward comodo at all.facts of the matter are that this is the best security suite out there no arguments.
i have the new premium edition of comodo is4 and i absolutely love this program.i have other comodo products as well and they are great.and its all free which is amazing considering it gives paid for products a serious run for their money.the corporate software companies would learn a lot from comodo and their excellent customer service.best things in life are free.all the best to you.
@wcoldschool well all the VPN does is protect your connection, but you are still susceptible to downloading malware, drive by downloads, java exploits, etc. So even if you have a VPN connection security software is still needed.
Languy, please reply: So, if an ITEM runs in the SANDBOX, you can scan it with Malware bytes etc. But those THREAT you found with COMODO, was they active?
If malware somehow gets on your system or if you download Comodo to an infected box, it's On-Demand detection rate is slightly better than average. Having SAS + MBAM on your box with Comodo is a MUST!!
Languy99, I tried to Install a Package from WINrar. It says that it runs in a Sandbox, but this Package have no virus. What to do, so I can use PROGRAMS from WINrar. :S
Open CIS, click on the DEFENSE+ button and then click on the MY PENDING FILES item. This will display a listing of all files that have been run as sandboxed, assuming that all sandboxed apps are legit, I select all, SUBMIT them and then move them to MY SAFE FILES.
When you say that Comodo's sandbox blocked a piece of malware, what do you exactly mean? The alert says the malware is being run in the sandbox, but says nothing about it being blocked because it is malicious or not. I assume there's some way to clear out the sandbox?
16MB of RAM usage is amazing...
Overall good overview, although I felt your comment at the end about the Temp file was biased in favour of Comodo - "...A scan sooner or later with Comodo will catch that".
the sandbox basically limits the malware from being able to modify anything on the system. It cannot change the registry, modify or add files or anything. What I think happens is that the program stays in ram, and it's gone when you restart.
What I meant at the end is that becasue it is a temp file, it is not important (not running in memory, just sitting there) and when the AV has a signature for it, it will catch it and delete it so there is not much to worry about.
but i love how biased the ending of this vid is, have any of u seen him use ccleaner or such to clean temp file detections in his vids of ANY other AV's? not me... have any of u seen him really take a look at those MBAM detections in other vids telling u that theyre temp files and no one shuld worry? i dont recall that... Comodo did fine, but ur conclusion is biased as hell.
The only reason I ran CCleaner was to show how the install does not popup any alerts. In my past vids you will see I said, they are just temp files no problem, just like I did this time. I feel you are trying to discredit me in someway and if that's what you want fine, you are entitled to your opinion but if something snuck by that was important/dangerous I never hid it, I would hold the program accountable. So nothing is biased you just like to think it is.
"great for people with slow internet connections"... thats the exact opposite of wat an online installer is good for, its good for peep with a fast internet, cuz peep with no internet or a slow internet typically can get the installer from another computer and have it put onto their computer, having to download the entire program over the net is BAD for peep with slow connections or especially with no connection...
actually it is good for people with a slow connection becasue before they would have to download the whole installer if all they wanted was the firewall.
I was never really a fan of nod32, in my tests it does ok but not great. Malwarebytes is good. Comodo is good also. But combining all of these together should keep you infection free becasue malwarebytes takes up any slack nod32 has.
Ive been noticing a bug with the auto-sandbox feature where it doesn't really run the file in the sandbox. I tried Comodo out in my VPC and it missed a rootkit, the sandbox said it sandboxed it but i still had lots of stuff running, and malwarebytes detected something like 650 infections. is anyone else having this problem? O_o
I have not heard of any problems, what I would do is go to the comodo forums and pop up a bug report, they are good about getting back to you and helping you out.
Hmm but sandboxie doesnt let anything trough. It´s highly depended on users skills which gives it almost 100% protection. What it seemed with Comodos counterpart was that it let trough awfully lot of spyware. Maybe it´s because of the intrusion of the Anti-Virus and D+ or maybe there just is "holes" in their program.
Never the less, im still using sandboxie; Avira 9; Comodo Firewall (D+) combo.

How can an Anti Virus Program possible detect TOO MUCH?

Too much compare to the others

Pending on: If its DETECT False Postives, Like: You download a LEGIT program like Camtasia Recorder, it will detect it as VIRUS.
If its DETECTS REAL virusses, then its good. :-)
