  • last night i format my hard dive as it had windows 7 ultimate on it too put linux ubuntu 10.10 best thing ive done tbh so much fast

  • And what is the point of making viruses for something almost nobody uses?

  • Yeah, it's beautiful. But can I play Crysis on it?

  • Incorrect! I have 7 various computers all running ubuntu and all wireless hardware works perfectly.

  • ReactOS is working on a Windows-Like OS, which may take a couple of years.

  • ReactOS is cool, it runs EVERY windows program. its a windows with 0 viruses :)

But I still love my win 7

  • I'll stick with Xp, till the LifeCycle is doomed.

Sorry but, until Microsoft lowers the System Requirements, I ain't buying it.

That poor Windows 2000. Don't care if a OS has bells and whistles, I just want an OS.

    Thats where OpenSource comes in.

  • I prefer OpenSuse,

BUT the non-geek person will want someone that can burn an Iso of it, so the drivers and codecs, become apart of the OS (Operating System).

Until Ubuntu, OpenSuse, OpenSolaris and other Open Operating Systems include things that people need by *DeFault*. The non-geek person will simply say *Windows* or *Mac*.

Gnome, KDE, Solaris and many other platform's have the potential to kick Windows butt.

  • wrong im no geek but i prefer ubuntu freeBSD and VMS

  • "O-Bun-Too ЛЕНИX"

  • Au contraire...I've enjoyed reading all your comments and they are spot on and in line with my own, but here I have to differ with you. I didn' t start using Linux until just about 2 years ago (see a connection with another release about 2 years ago?) However, Ubuntu installations on even the oldest computers takes well under 30 minutes and besides adding flash and a few codecs, there is nothing else to do. I have many retired aged computer users successfully looking Ubuntu with zero problems

  • Do you know much about installing this on a playstation 3?

  • Ubuntu wouldn't work on a ps3. Try Yellow Dog. It's a different distro (flavour) of Linux.

  • eh, don't really care anymore, but thanks for the reply =3

  • ubuntu is great. but untill i get my wireless card to work, im dual booting

  • It might not be fair to windows but it is to proprietary software in general.

I would disagree on a few points though:

    - It Linux not Lunix! Is there something to do with the english accent or what?

    - It is Actually GNU/Linux. the 'GNU' part is omitted due to language abuse...but is an important part of the name...

    - Gimp is very good but still no match compared to photoshop according to most professional artists I know of.

  • True enough, EXCEPT, none of these programs are installed with the OS right out of the box. And too few computer users have the know-how or gumption to seek out these great freeware programs for themselves. Ubuntu builds it in right from the 20 minute install.

  • It's pronounced "ooboontoo".

  • It doesn't seem to have spider solitaire.

I don't like GIMP that much because I'm too accustom to Microsoft Paint.

  • It does have spider solitaire, though you have install it by yourself.

If you don't like GIMP, or you want something similiar to MSPaint, use KolourPaint. It's a MSPaint clone.

  • Sorry I meant everybody.

  • Yeah everything, let screw windows and move to the operating system of humanity.

Here's how I use to pronounce it... UbonCrew.

  • someone plz help i just got ubuntu today and heres my problem..

when i try to download a file or any thing (limewire, aim, skype) i go to open put in password click install package and it says "only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time.. then under it it says "please close other applications e.g. update manager, aptitude, or synaptic first...i tried closing those in system>administration>system monitor but i cant find them please help

    message me w/ the answer

  • you can only install one software at a time,, either through synaptic or terminal. So close one or the other before installing something.

  • no windows still controlls 90% of the market

  • If you read the comments below - you will see why Micro$oft owns the computer market. As complex as software is - you guys cannot even agree on how to pronounce "Ubuntu"!!! So having a really great FREE operating system is DECADES away!! I am sure Micro$oft appreciates it very much - keep complaining about the freeware operating systems - and when you run out of things to complain about - complain about the name!!!

  • Who cares how it is pronounced? I pronounce it how it is spelled U-bun-t-u.

  • Fail. It's pronounced "OO-BOON-TOO". Lurk moar.

Besides that, the video was, overall, pretty cool. You get a 4/5.

  • your video is perfect ! just added it to my channel :-)

but could you change the background music or just cut it out? after 10 seconds i had headache (no joke) and had to watch it without any sound at all ;-( ...

  • sorry-sorry-sorry :( *blush red* there is no music at all in YOUR video, that's ME doing too much things online at the same time - did not realize any kind of gadget from asia downloaded and started itself in the background while i was visiting asian pages... this was where the terrible "music" came from ! but it was no harm at all, so happy again i use linux all time :)

    sorry again...

  • good video.

    especially the prize-comparings.

hopefully big computer companies will place ubuntu on their computers.this will lower the price seriously (i think).

and windows...sorry guys , but more and more people will take linux or apple.

  • Man this guy can't pronounce any of these applications and Operating System names. Geez seriously.

  • He mispronounced Ubuntu. It's supposed to be pronounced "yoo-boon-too". Nice vid though, I have Ubuntu 7.10 Alpha 2.

  • the problem thing with ubuntu is that simple things like connecting to a wireless network, are not simple.

  • I disagree. I found it very simple.

  • It is getting better with time. I am running it on my laptop...the wireless is working fine.

  • nice. ubuntu rocks. keep the linux love coming!

  • GNOME FTW!

  • Very nice, I run Kubuntu myself!

  • Nice intro vid, very informative. I've used it off and on for about a year dual booting, I always thought it was pronounced "oobuntoo". You should do a beryl walkthrough if you have the horsepower. There are tons of videos showing it off, but not many instructional videos.

  • FFROCKS!

  • nice review, like that fact that it's free and it requires less hardware than vista.

  • Verrry interestink!
