"Honestly it's just sex, sex, sex with you people." Truer words were never spoken!
Season 1 sucked so badly that I skipped Season 2. Most reviews I found said it was just more of the same. I did watch Season 3 when I learned it was more critically successful, disposed of that insufferable asshole Owen, and most importantly was much shorter. I found it so disturbing that I swore off Torchwood altogether, but I will say that I enjoyed it more than I was expecting.
@aperson22222 Season 2 was better than 1 for sure. It had better stories and more character development, but it still left a lot to be desired. Season 3 was just amazing, but season 4 was very dissapointing so I don't know what to expect from season 5.
@thesyfychannel15 As I said, never bothered with 2. When I was watching 3 I was pretty disturbed by the dystopic developments but in retrospect, the more I think about it the more I like it. I was also thinking that the man Jack became at the end would be the ideal companion for the man Eleven became at the end of the recently completed DW season: He can't be endangered because he's immortal, he would know what he's getting into because he's one of the few companions who knows a lot about aliens
and the like independent of stuff the Doctor's taught him, and he's already used to making impossible decisions about no-win moral dilemmas, so he wouldn't be corrupted or judge the Doctor when he has to make the tough calls. Both men are profoundly lonely (Doc has River but he's already seen her die, so he knows he'll outlive her, and of course Jack outlives everyone) and would complement one another very well.
I didn't watch 4, mainly because the final scene of 3 felt like such a perfect
series-ending moment that I'd rather pretend that's all there is. Plus the trailers and synopses that became available for Miracle Day led me to believe I would not be able to enjoy it, and on top of that I'm too lazy to look up channels I've never heard of in this age of hundreds and hundreds of stations. How fondly I remember the days of being told "Watch this show on Channel 9" instead of a long string of letters and words which force me to spend twenty minutes digging around for a directory.
what episode did Gwen say that line at the start???
