I don't believe Iams did it because I had a cat die from renal failer and I only fed her Purina. She was Siamese too.The thing about renal failer is that there is no way of even catching it early on.Your kidneys are already 3/4 of the way shut down before you even show signs. They are finding early tests now to find out if you cat has it or not

Had I known then what I know now, both of my cats may have survived longer. Foods without by products and low ash/phosphorus such as The Honest Kitchen, Solid Gold LIVER (blue can) , sub q fluids, holistic Dr. recommended herbs to support & cleanse the kidney, blood transfusion, and 3 days on an iv can get your cats blood work back to stable. We just took a cat from 160 BUN to 43 by doing what I listed above.
Go to the cvm foia electronic reading room of the fda's online website and find the list of foods that they found pentobarbital in. It's what's killing our pets slowly NOW. :(

this is why you never go for the cheap stuff. if you have a cat, or a dog, make sure you have the money to feed them organic food. as a former petco manager, i know first hand what they put in the cheap stuff, and it aint pretty. if the food says "by-product" next to the meat that is usually the first ingredient, that means its not only the most prevelant in the food, it is also the parts of the animal no human would dare touch!

If I remember right, the food in question was made in China. Seems that we would stop getting this stuff from China with all the problems that we have been having.

I have always fed my little buddy Purina One healthy digestive system. When he was a kitten, he never liked Iams. The Houston SPCA gave us a few small bags and him and his sister never liked it...

some one told me to give him iams because it should be the best cat food you can give your cat! My cat started to get sick.. I had to take him to the wet. :(
he could barely see anymore and he couldn't see me when i called. He used to come everytime. He couldn't jump at my bed and slept all day long. On the floor. I had to put him on the sofa or bed,
so i know how you feel! :( He had a kidney failure.
