Juan Williams is a journalist and someone who should be knowledgeable on the subject of the 9/11 hijacking. He should know that the men who hijacked the plane were not Muslims dressed in Muslim garb. In fact, one could not distinguish them from everyday hillbillies who went to nightclubs and drank which in fact they did.
Furthermore, he should know the chance of a plane accident, much less a plane hijacking is much less than driving a car. He should stay glued to TV news and not even go out. It would be much safer. To the extent Mr. Williams expressed his fears, I do not see this as racism or bigotry. I am Muslim and was not offended. If you watch the whole segment, he admits he knows some of his fears are ill-conceived, & that he tries to look past it. Although I do not agree with him politically on most issues, I see nothing wrong with what he stated. I think should have been applauded for his honesty & thoughtfulness, not reprimanded. These are important issues, & our fears need to be discussed openly.

In this country we have thousands of people from the Middle East who are here illegally, lots of them are muslims, this is a huge threat that has to be taken seriously. In fact, you just need to look at Fox clips where they were bashing someone for saying that the Pope was killing people in the name of Jesus by making the erroneous, ignorant claim that condoms CAUSE AIDS instead of protecting against the virus.
Badmouthing condoms (possibly with the idea that it will decrease the number of people having sex, or some kind of distrust of condoms in general) will just lead to all sex being unprotected sex if nobody uses them.

For example, would I be correct in saying that Christians protested soldier's funerals? Of course. But that statement implicates all of Christianity rather than those responsible who are actually not considered as a part of the Christian religion by most Christians such as myself. Make sense?

The problem is more about the fact that someone that is a public figure promotes the idea that it isn't just extremists but all Muslims.
You can say that it is validated by the fact that they were islamic. They weren't really islamic more than an extremist Christian is a Christian. Juan Williams is a journalist and someone who should be knowledgeable on the subject of the 9/11 hijacking. He should know that the men who hijacked the plane were not Muslims dressed in Muslim garb. In fact, one could not distinguish them from everyday hillbillies who went to nightclubs and drank which in fact they did.

Furthermore, he should know the chance of a plane accident, much less a plane hijacking is much less than driving a car. He should stay glued to TV news and not even go out. It would be much safer. To the extent Mr. Williams expressed his fears, I do not see this as racism or bigotry. I am Muslim and was not offended. If you watch the whole segment, he admits he knows some of his fears are ill-conceived, & that he tries to look past it. Although I do not agree with him politically on most issues, I see nothing wrong with what he stated. I think should have been applauded for his honesty & thoughtfulness, not reprimanded. These are important issues, & our fears need to be discussed openly.

I myself identify as Muslim, & admit I also get nervous around those I know are overly religious, be they other Muslims, evangelical Christians, or others b/c of experience growing up in Iran, facing prejudices in the US, etc. It is only natural to base current perception on past experience, to stereotype. Yet, despite my own fears, I know not all Muslims are like those madmen who terrorize my home country, & not all Christians are like those who harassed my family & I when we arrived in the US.
