  • STEVE!!!!

  • Love it! The guy on the drums looks like Anthony Hamilton the singer.

  • i love this man!

  • i love that Try! guitar :D

  • see him playing makes me wanna play my guitar.

  • yes, well put.

  • I saw a video of him performing this song about a year ago and I started playing about a month later.

  • where can i get this dvd? (presuming it's from a dvd)

  • this version is very similar to the one from "where the light is - Live in L.A." but its all on youtube as well

  • For his other band John uses a Keeley Compressor, Marshall Blues Breaker (or Blues Driver), another Tube Screamer plus everything I listed for what he uses in the Trio. I hope that helped.

  • he doesnt use keeley compressor...

  • he does use the compressor.

  • i dont think he does,,,caus ei checked his pedalboard, and he doesnt ahve a comp anywhere on the board, and i saw a clear image on the japanese guitarist magazine

  • he has it in his rack i know he uses one

  • i saw his rack from the magazine, he doesnt have any...

  • He does use one. I have a book of interviews with various guitar players and he is in it. He states clearly that he uses one. I don't think he uses the Keeley anymore but I do believe it's in that huge floor unit thing he now uses.

  • he uses katana

  • I said in an older post he uses one

  • For the Trio John used Boss TU-2 Tuner, Keeley Modded Blues Driver, Keeley Modded TS808 tube screamer, Keeley Katana, T Rex Replica Digital Delay, Way Huge Aqua Puss Analog Delay, and a RMC1 Wah Wah Pedal.

  • Pino Palladino!!

  • I don't know anything about playing the guitar but I noticed his fingers are very long.

  • Long fingers do help, but are by no means, essential; for example, Michael Romeo has perfect technique and can shred at a million miles per hour, but has ridiculously small fingers.

  • what a great audience!

  • at 3:00 he starts a Jimi riff....which is a sweet little salute thrown in there...I wanted to hate john mayer, but its not working out for me so well. His pop stuff does suck, but this guy can play guitar, it just can't be denied.

  • The John Mayer Trio reminds me a lot of Cream. :)

  • Omg that one is the best version :o

So crazy the the stop with the drummer :o

  • Is it me or do the people shown during John's solo not look like they're feeling the song?

I know, I shouldn't comment on how someone enjoys a song, but this track is incredible from beginning to end and they look like "Oh yeah, I'm trying to find the groove with this tune".

When I saw the video on MTV (MTV played a video?!) some time back I would keep tuning back to catch it sometime/anytime I could. I couldn't get enough. I'm tempted half the time to sing this song when it hits me.

  • i think they probably didnt expect to get their faces melted off

i mean most of them were probably teenaged females who like his pop music

and then he pulls this song out of his butt and they're like OH EM GEEEEEE

  • yeah really i always listen to this in the bus and when he solo hits me im like freakin out and people always look at me like im spastic

  • it's not his tone.

    it's his hands.

his tone is amazing, but the reason it sounds so good is because of his hands. trust me.

  • well ya i just mean what kind of equipment is he using like pedals and amps

  • two-rock amps and i think an ibanez tube screamer anda compressor but im not sure what kind

  • keeley compressor?

  • maybe but im noy sure exactly

  • i mean...i have shots of his pedalboard...but john switches around like a fiend

  • this is the tone i have been trying to find for forever if anyone one knows how to get it write back to me plz

  • I know nothing of the technical aspects, but I can definitely tell someone's enjoyment of the skill that they are performing with, and that's worth watching, as well as listening to the song itself. Awesome, absolutley!

  • heads up, John is using a number of amps, yeah he has a fender up there but his main rigs are Two Rocks.

  • he was on fire here too!

  • hes not using any pedals hes just cranking a twin reverb at 10 and maybe a tube screamer for the solo

  • well obvisly hes using a pedal to change channels on his amp.

  • and he is using pedals pause the video at 3:07 and you will see them

  • what pedals does he use in this song?

  • Playing with personality and leaving technical perfection as an after thought. Way to play, he's fab.

  • mayer is the man: teenage girls show up to hear your body is a wonderland, and he comes out playing his ass off on the electric; no questions asked, no apologies made.

  • steve jordan kicks ass

  • Not the Try! version, solos are very different. Still awesome though. Just can't get enough of this song!!! Ending of this version is so very Hendrix...LOVE IT!

  • is that the same version from the TRY! album? it sounds like the same one...

great song from a very talented John Mayer and a great band

  • oops John Mayer doesn't just look good, he plays SOME guitar

I hope too these three guys do one,two a dozen more albums

  • It's a JM Trio "Try" Custom Stratocaster with a reverse headstock.

  • please can anybody tell me the exact model of his strat?

  • It's a JM Trio "Try" Custom Stratocaster with a reverse headstock.

  • sweet....got a soft spot for reverse headstock!

  • I thought they looked pretty sweet on the old Kramers back in the 80's, but I don't really care for them with the Strat headstock.

  • Amazing musicians....John Mayer is the person I would listen to forever if I had to pick just one artist

  • Why did he sell the guitar after the concert, and how for how much did it cost?

  • You don't LEARN this ! it's a GIFT.... bless ya Johnny

  • great, great, great musicians!!!

  • John Mayer Trio is amazing. I really hope they do another album together

  • great video, JM3 is great, i would like to see a little more funk from him though and less pop. maybe when he gets older.

  • I totally agree on that one, and i think john has that musical experience so he can experiment a lot with his music. Stay tuned, i will upload more songs from this concert!

  • @donbon567 I think he's playing Folk Music in his next album.
