  • Just watched this and it has opened up an angle of live I knew of but never actually looked into. Made it simpler for me.

    Nice one!

  • Amazing Lesson!

    I really appreciate it.

    Peace.

  • If I only had a brian.... thanks for posting all these useful tips.

  • holy crap this is exactly what i needed. wow. and you should request ablton an option to cycle devices... yr workaround is witty but i think they really should do that

  • Thanks. Exactly what I was wondering about next (day 2 with Live & pk). Let me add (and you might not realize it) but you do have a knack for making a good tutorial: getting straight to the info, showing how to do it...lots of folks ramble on and on or stray off course or go in a weird direction: but you deliver, short and sweet.

    Good job.

  • Great job dude. Thanks for posting. Been pulling my hair out trying to do this properly.

  • you made a really good tutorial.

your hints and tricks are bloody terrific!

    thanks.

  • Excellent,thanks.

  • Can I use this method with my MC909 to control Live? This thing has a ton of knobs/sliders/pads, 5 knobs + 13 sliders x 4 tone banks, 16 track mixer sliders, 16 velocity sensitve trigger pads.

  • Where do I find that midi translator?

  • My PK isn't showing up anywhere.

    Not in live, FL, etc...

    What do I do??

  • Wow, that was so helpfull, thanks you so much. You rock!!

  • Your Videos are F'n Awesome!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to create and post them. You Rock Brother.

  • LOL.

    "Clitting"

  • (I was replying to BrianJunglist in that other comment.)

I'm having trouble doing the autohotkey thing you're showing in the video. I write excactly the same thing, but all I get is "error: invalid hotkey"

  • Very nice video bro! I learnt a lot from that, can't wait to get home and create some new mappings to things I could never do before. Respect!

  • Great video. I have Live 6 and I've managed to work with the most of it just by looking, thinking and experimenting a bit. I have the padKontrol, too. Thing is, I can't get it to appear in the list of remote controls, after following your instructions. Oh well, I'll tinker some more.

Nice heads up on the translator, too :).

  • Dude - you're a freak! Thanks for the inspiration!! Keep them coming cause Im hooked!

  • Very useful, thanks for sharing !!

  • Great tuorial. Hey Stray411. is that Camtasia software you are using for this tutorial?

  • I've never tried any other soft sequencers besides Acid, which I still use. I tend to stick with what I'm comfortable with. I was happy with Acid, but Live Lite came with the pK, I gave it a try and I was hooked. The controllability of it is what really sold me on it.

  • I just came across your set of videos this weekend. Very helpful. Although, now I think I should have spent more time learning Live than jerking around w/ Reason. Why did you pick Live over Cubase, Fruity, ProTools, etc.?

On a strange side note, I came across AutoHotkey a couple weeks ago and am using it on Reason. Funny to see you're using it too. I guess it isn't so much a hack afterall.

  • Awesomely helpful. This is the sort of stuff that I like to see, not some hack twisting a few knobs on his latest gearfetish while turkeynecking or handjiving.

  • This is NASA stuff were talking here,.. isnt it?. one small mouse click for Stray411, one giant leap for musickind. Good is an understatment.

  • for some reason my pad kontrol didnt come with any of those bad ass programs they said it did...

  • Same here. I found out later that those were for US residents only. I guess you can contact your retailer and still get those though.

  • another awesome vid... i wish this information was available for the m-audio axiom controller and sonar5.

  • That is a great video on how to use PadKontrol with LIVE. My PadKontrol has just been sitting on my desk collecting dust. Till now...Thanks for this video and I hope you post more.

  • Wow!! Thanks for this vid..I'm new to all this stuff so I really appreciate the help!
