Hi armyofme4340! I just got my S2! And I am super excited to try this thing out. But I've got a little (actually big) crisis going on. When I connect S2 to my laptop and power cord, nothing lights up except for the USB indicator LED. Nothing seems wrong even when I check the configuration section. It all says that my S2 is connected. But I cannot get this thing to work. None of the buttons work! I NEED YOUR HELP! :( THNX!
Soooo am I going to have to buy monitor speakers for the s2? or can I hear the audio through my computer? Currently using a Razer Megalodon headset, which Traktor Pro2 recognizes, but when I chose them under audio device the software crashes lol.
@ShowTiimee123 I would say go for it its a nice way to begin,but first of all start to discover traktor so you dont have to do that anymore when you finnaly bought it.

One more thing,i want your honest opinion about this:is there a very big difference between S2 & S4 besides the fact that you can mix using 4 decks and have thoes extra sample buttons on the S4?
You are very good at explaining and you have a really nice voice,its a pleasure watching your videos.
I really hope you will make a few tutorials on the TK S2 for beginners......show a few examples of; mixing 2 tracks....how to use the samples since s2 doesn't have extra buttons for samples like the s4.....and a few basics stuff which you think it will help us,the beginners,to start our "journey" into mixing.
I'm 100% you will make a lot of people very happy.

@slingyboy You can record with the S2. Actually the recording happens inside of traktor so it doesn't matter what gear you work with. I would say for a beginner the S2 is better.
@slingyboy get the s2. you said your getting one for a hobby, so I'm assuming you have no background knowledge with a turntable controller. don't bust $600 on a piece of equipment that might be of interest for you. it's safer to get the s2, AND it being a beginner board PLUS still the top of the line controller out there, you'll learn easier and get good over time.
@slingyboy I think it's much more beneficial getting the S4. With computer Djing it is so much easier to do four deck mixes so you'll be doing them within a few weeks of learning. I promise that you'll want to upgrade to the S4 not long after getting the S2!

hey sweet tutorial, and thanks for posting your awesome TSI. OK, quick question. I have your TSI loaded into traktor and have restarted/reimported a few times. I can see your custom mapping in my drop-down menu of custom mappings. however, I can't for the life of me figure out how to switch on the fly. how do I do this? thanks!!
@armyofme4340 thanks for the quick reply. I had to enable that shift+shift option under the S2 tab in preferences (it is not on by default). it works now! only trouble is... when I switch BACK to my standard control, the my FX options are all scrambled up from what my default is. I'll be trying to find a work around. thanks.
Hi, i have download the amazing mapping, but i can only get the effects on the effect knobs on each deck, but jog wheels dont change? What am I doing wrong? How do i get your effects on my jog wheels?
Can I remap your config onto my M-Audio Xponent? Not sure if u're using 14-bits/midi&normal mode switch, which will cause this config only to work on the S2/4...?

hi was wondering how you were about to assign different knobs for control effects? what do you have to do, im so confused. im extra intrested in ramping the jog wheels to control effects so it would be great if you could clear things up for me!
@armyofme4340 so i imported the mapping and everything is layer out correctly, but for some reason the knobs aren't getting mapped to your settings. For example, the sweep/drama effect. In your video you turn one knob and it runs three effects simultaneously....on mine, when i move the knob for the sweep/drama effect it only controls the beatmasher. I have tried re-importing it like 10 times, and have no idea what to do. A little help would be much appreciated. Thanks
@RockstahRolln - you can edit mappings in S4 as easily as in S2. Both were built for traktor.... Normally ANY DJ gear that you use with tracktor - you can change the .tsi file of. It's just that chained mappings to one button/knob often is quite difficult to set. But that's a Traktor pro prob. Not S2 or S4 prob

these are awesome sounding effects combos! i just finished editing the mapping to work with 2 FX instead of 4, because i like to have FX 1 in group mode and FX 2 in single mode in native mode, that way they dont change when the knobs are turned and i dont loose my mind resetting everything :) looking forward to more vids keep it!!

thanks for the great introduction! I'm habing issues though with the mapping. I can load it onto Traktor fine, but I can't play any songs with the mapping. All the controls on the software work fine but the track simply won't play. Is there a solution to this problem?

Amazing video, so helpful as I just bought an S2 and am having trouble with mapping. I had one question, how would I take the custom mapping you have in this video, but make the jog wheel function the basic 'seek' so I can find points in my tracks with it. Sorry if this is a very basic question, struggling a little bit.
@jacobt80 Just go into the mappings and find the command. Delete it and add one that says List Select Up/Down. Unfortunately it's not easy to describe this over youtube. You'll have to play with it.

hey Priscilla I've been studying your video and found that my effects don't react the same as yours do in the video. It seems that they don't activate till you stop turning the knob or release. your effects seem to activate as soon as you turn your knob and/or jog wheel. when turning the jog wheel in the video it seem to build up the effect the more you turn it.
Dont know why "learn" doesn't respond to any of the knob turns. After switching to midi mode on the s4, accessing the controller manager, pressing "learn", twisting or pressing according buttons or knobs on the s4 doesn't seem to do anything. could you please tell me how to do this? (I would assume this is how you do it to make the mapping compatible to the s4).Thanks a bunch
@syhan0920 I had that problem in the beginning and could never figure out why. But if you open up your controller editor and move the midi port from external to internal that should do the trick.
@KeithAHernandez. It's really hard to explain it with words. I would suggest you to look at Priscilla's previous videos the sweep and drama effect from there you will get the details you need. I hope that helps you.
@keithAHrnandez you need to press shift and then browse in order to change the S4 to MIDI. Cheers. Btw you will only need to change the effect name to delay and change the effect channel to 3. Everything else works like a charm.

worked perfectly for the s4.. no need to change anything..i did doa couple more things with effects, basically setting the cue buttons on the bottom to enable modifers...so i could have even more effects :)
still want a midifighter pro though..i want super knobs!! on the s4

I have followed your instructions but the effects doesn't work as they work in your video, the jogwheel are always configured with the traktor default mapping.. Sorry if I made mistakes, I'm french ;)

@TerritorioDance You can't map it like that on the RMX as it doesn't have touch sensitive jog wheels. The S2 can send a message when you apply pressure to the jog and when you move it.

@rainierjp Hey, thanks for the kind words. Try downloading this mapping and check to see if it works with the S4. If it doesn't then just download the TSI and change the values to match the ones on the S4. Select the effect and click learn then just twist the knob on the S4.

ive been using the numark total controll an mpk mini, and a korg nano kontrol .
and i want to start controlerisim and i think the apc 40 is perfect for djing because it has a crossfader but, hsince the s2 came out im having second thoughts between the 2

Thank you for this vid P!!! You are wicked! I spent a whole night reverse engenieering your TSI to adapt to my Controllers. It was so much fun, and a nice addition to my routine. these are awesome sounding effects combos! i just finished editing the mapping to work with 2 FX instead of 4, because i like to have FX 1 in group mode and FX 2 in single mode in native mode, that way they dont change when the knobs are turned and i dont loose my mind resetting everything :) looking forward to more vids keep it!!

@ckrul20 You will need to map those. Like the video explains midi mode is a blank slate. You need to map it to your liking.

thanks for the great introduction! I'm habing issues though with the mapping. I can load it onto Traktor fine, but I can't play any songs with the mapping. All the controls on the software work fine but the track simply won't play. Is there a solution to this problem?

I can't get this mapping to work. I have no idea why but when I reimport it my s2 just stops working at all, nor knobs neither buttons don't work. also effects didn't load in properly. do you have any idea how I could get this mapping to work?

Amazing video, so helpful as I just bought an S2 and am having trouble with mapping. I had one question, how would I take the custom mapping you have in this video, but make the jog wheel function the basic 'seek' so I can find points in my tracks with it. Sorry if this is a very basic question, struggling a little bit.

@jacobt80 Just go into the mappings and find the command. Delete it and add one that says List Select Up/Down. Unfortunately it's not easy to describe this over youtube. You'll have to play with it.

how can you make this efekt whit you jog weels at 7min 49sek ?? i am relly stupid i have youst get my S2 last week . and I know I can change the various things on my jog weel .. but what should I change my jog weel to get this efekt? and how xD!? :D!

big import button is at the bottom of your preference page next to the setup wizard and the small import is in your controller manager drop down menu

hey Priscilla I've been studying your video and found that my effects don't react the same as yours do in the video. It seems that they don't activate till you stop turning the knob or release. your effects seem to activate as soon as you turn your knob and/or jog wheel. when turning the jog wheel in the video it seem to build up the effect the more you turn it.

@chivi32 I would do a full import again and and restart traktor a couple of times. I've never had anyone have that issue.

Hi Priscilla,
Dont know why "learn" doesn't respond to any of the knob turns. After switching to midi mode on the s4, accessing the controller manager, pressing "learn", twisting or pressing according buttons or knobs on the s4 doesn't seem to do anything. could you please tell me how to do this? (I would assume this is how you do it to make the mapping compatible to the s4).Thanks a bunch

@syhan0920 I had that problem in the beginning and could never figure out why. But if you open up your controller editor and move the midi port from external to internal that should do the trick.

@KeithAHernandez. It's really hard to explain it with words. I would suggest you to look at Priscilla's previous videos the sweep and drama effect from there you will get the details you need. I hope that helps you.

@keithAHrnandez you need to press shift and then browse in order to change the S4 to MIDI. Cheers. Btw you will only need to change the effect name to delay and change the effect channel to 3. Everything else works like a charm.

I seen you said to press the shift button, does it matter if it's right or left shift or which other button?

worked perfectly for the s4.. no need to change anything..i did doa couple more things with effects, basically setting the cue buttons on the bottom to enable modifers...so i could have even more effects :)
still want a midifighter pro though..i want super knobs!! on the s4

been waiting forever for the sweep and echo. just downloaded the tsi file but doesnt work on the s4. none of the effects turns on. can you set it for the s4 by anyway. i would love to have these effect on the s4.

Hi, the mapping doesn't work, I have the Kontrol S2 and 2.1 version..
I have followed your instructions but the effects doesn't work as they work in your video, the jogwheel are always configured with the traktor default mapping.. Sorry if I made mistakes, I'm french ;)

@TerritorioDance You can't map it like that on the RMX as it doesn't have touch sensitive jog wheels. The S2 can send a message when you apply pressure to the jog and when you move it.

@rainierjp Hey, thanks for the kind words. Try downloading this mapping and check to see if it works with the S4. If it doesn't then just download the TSI and change the values to match the ones on the S4. Select the effect and click learn then just twist the knob on the S4.

i haz a question im thinking of upgrading my gear to an apc 40 and a sound card
ive been using the numark total controll an mpk mini, and a korg nano kontrol .
and i want to start controlerisim and i think the apc 40 is perfect for djing because it has a crossfader but, hsince the s2 came out im having second thoughts between the 2
