I come from Cebu and as a youth I have eaten dog meat. Poverty isn't the reason, it's a delicacy and honestly dog meat is very tender and juicy, one of the best meat in the world. I stopped eating dog meat simply because people here in the USA despise the practice.

Attempt to rewrite history were made during the American occupation in order to conform with the Colonial Master. Felix M. Keesing in his book Taming Philippines in the 1930's codified oral history. 6000 yr Indonesians and Malaysians who later became Filipinos used dog to help protect the farm and for food specially during festivities.
