@Ebony0Rose Because in actual speed this took all of 2 seconds. It was shot with a specialty camera to capture and slow down the event to give you perspective showing a still frame from standard speed would never give.
Keep in mind that animal is around the size of a Ford Crown Vic. and it's hurling itself out of the water (that requires massive escape velocity) and into the air.
The reason this clip is shown in slo-mo is to demonstrate the sheer power of the animal. Also BBC's Plant Earth.
Excuse me, but sharks-any variety-ARE NOT at the top of the marine food chain! That honor goes to ORCAS! Orcas are the most aggressive, powerful, cunning and effective hunters that our oceans sport today, and back in 1997 I personally saw an orca kill a shark that was easily a 12 footer, rip it to shreds and eat that shark's liver like my boyfriend tears into a juicy steak!
I stood there, jaw agape, as our tour guide captain announced the orca by name and told our party the orca-a female-is a well known shark hunter who loves to eat shark livers.
It's disturbing how many creatures are endangered specifically because the Chinese decided they'd make a nice soup. And yet they catch almost no flak for it. Astounding.
@equallyeasilyfuqyou Really, so a shark will come to your house to eat you? You would be swimming in their enviorment, they own the ocean, as well as every other sea creature...
@kinsmon123 Did you not see the "I know that bugs have more population than most things" I was just saying it to phil2856 logic that killing things makes you "selfish".
Fucking hippies whining about humans hunting sharks. Important to the ecosystem my ass, no they're not. If they were wiped out you still have tons of other things in the sea to eat the fish. I hope you goddamn hippies get eaten.

i thinks u exagerate a lil 100.000.000 is a lot, i know theres a lot of black market killers and official like in japan, the number is large is true, but is about half as you think, experts estimate, between 38-75millon shakrs killed every year, why this number is so inacurate??? well, keep in count theres not a regulated market to estimate how much sharks where killed, and also , scientists dont have unlimited resources to tag all sharks in the ocean, but is a lot of human hand kill
the great white speed coming up, from the deep, must be sooo fast...to think that ignorant, stupid people out there, are murdering sharks, left, right and centre..
Daaaang...that shark must've spotted the seal from deep under sea and came straight up with all force and speed to eat him, and that's why he jumped so far up.
SHARKS are extremly important for the ecosystem of the ocean! they get killed all over the world fo rtheir fin, bloody asian think that it shark fin soup increase their sexual potential! 100mill a year? fact is that their population is in big danger. "Sadly global shark populations are now down to their last 10% with several species being down to their last 1 or 2%. We are killing 100 million sharks a year using ever more efficient techniques. Most sharks are killed just for their fins similar to the rhino being hunted for its horn. Sharks, biologically like whales and dolphins, are extremely vulnerable to fishing impacts, for they are slow growing, have extremely low reproductive rates and are mostly long lived."
@LastHope2x6 Thank you for your post, would please indicate me where I can find some statistics about that? It seems a way too big number... 100 million per year? If it were true it would mean that there would be plenty of sharks in the oceans, and how could they be endangered right now if there was such a population in the Oceans that would allow for such an intensive fishing... Thank you for reply
it is true, i have heard on radio/seen in documentary's that 75 million are killed every year for their fins alone and you can check this with a few different sources. here's a snip from a draft proposal put towards our government here in Australia concerning shark conservation...
Think he means all shark species not just great whites. When you consider there's so many species it makes sense. Not to mention those that die from pollution or getting tangled in nets.
@tulmax82 he doesnt mean great whites. He means all sorts of sharks, lantern sharks, wobbeygongs or whatever, if you watch the whole documentary he explains it
sharks are so beautiful. people need to remember that they get attacked because we're invading their space. they're not going to go away and the ocean needs sharks to keep up a healthy environment. and people killing people out numbers shakes killing people by billions to one.
