If these toys are already so functional Japan must already be making huge armies of such robots in secret. ofcourse they will be man size or even bigger this micht seem a bit farfetched but its most definately possible with japan's funding and tecnology. i dont know how they would be able to keep other quiet about it though. or even how such large scale production would be kept secret

im surprised the japanese havents scaled these or more sophisticated bipedal robots up to like voltron size yet,i mean they have so many anime & videogames about giant bipedal robots battling each other that have human pilots inside them,when is this going 2 become a sport or some type of bizare entertainment in japan,is amazing its not happened yet,they already have thoes giant robots at like monster truck shows in the us,it would be awesome 2 see huge robots fighting each other w/flamethowers

so why couldnt we scale up these bipedal robot kits to say the size of an asimo or maybe even bigger,would it really be much more of a cost ?and wouldnt we be able to incorporate more motors and servos giving it a wider range of motion?i would think that smaller motors and servoe are more expensive than bigger ones or maybe the same cost or not much more,i mean besides the magnets what would make them cost more?

i think you need to learn about kinetic and force theory to make the bot more efficient in using power.. use gravity force to help the movement, not the fully programmed movements.. and that makes more efficient.

Most of the servo based robots you're used to just move to a set position on command, so if there aren't enough positions pre-programmed, then they look jerky. This one has an onboard CPU running Linux and does inverse kinematics calculations to determine the positions real-time, which is why it looks so smooth compared to the other designs. Of course it's more expensive. This one, as a kit, runs just under $5,000 USD. It has 3 axis force sensors in its legs that cost $500 each...
