"The irresponsible charge that Bush lied" ?? Since when is the truth irresponsible?
The funny thing about this desperate, bullshit defense of Bush - implying that he made his decision based on information he believed to be true is just further testament as to how obviously guilty he was/is. I guess Mr Constitution forgot that “Imminent” threat is still the standard for the constitutional exercise of power by way of military force, which means that even with WMDs, an attack was not justified.

@tubeboy8 Yes American interests, guess you don't care about those.

@MasterWooten old man can you explain why we dont torture criminal suspects in the usa? why we dont torture known gang members that commit terrorism in small communities throughout the usa daily?Do you know why we dont do that?
@tubeboy8 Crackerjack post. I remember reading this dumb fuck's column. It's he same "kept us safe" bullshit. Sitting on your ass for 7 mins. after being told the country was under attack, blowing off the Aug. memo, demoting Richard Clarke. Shit for brains bush alienated most of our allies. The supreme court was in fact derelict. It's is known as bush v. Gore. Sowell never told us what this threat was, other than the fanatasy of WMD's that got Valerie Plame outed. That's treason.
Uhh...Sorry, Sowell doesn't call himself a Libertarian. Libertarians like you call him that, until you read pieces by him like this one.
He is basically a Burkean style Conservative. And it is intellectual cowardice to use the word "cowardice" to respond to an intelligent argument. It is also mindless reflexive; Sowell after all is a Korean war draftee, he didn't dodge his obligations.
Whether Saddam posed an immediate threat is another question, but the Bush Administration clearly underestimated the number of troops and occupation time needed to reinvent Iraq. Even Sowell has to admit that this failure proved disastrous until the Surge kicked in.
A question for Bush supporters: if you judge the Iraq War a success based on there not having been a terrorist attack in America since the war, please explain why there wasn't a terrorist attack in Spain until after they joined in the war, and why there hasn't been a terrorist attack there since they withdrew their troops. No doubt you thought the Spanish government was "caving in" to terrorism by so doing, but the result has been the same as that which you believe Bush should be credited for.
like Ron Paul. Ron Paul is not the end all-be all of libertarianism nor do his views encapsulate the whole of libertarian thought. Believe it nor not you can be libertarian and disagree(even stridently so)with Ron Paul or any other libertarian thinker or politician, I do it all the time and so do many other libertarians.
@Pervyable Of all the libertarians I have ever met, only a handful fit your description of what they are supposed to be, and the rest are mindless cult followers of lew rockwell and ron paul. That being granted, that handful have very little relevant to add to any sane policy discussion, foreign or domestic.
I suppose I could ask "what kind of libertarian" there are pro and anti immigration libertarians, and there are pro and anti federal reserve libertarians.
First of all Pauls libertarianism is hardly the only form in existence, he doesn't own the term. Theres an entirely other tradition of libertarianism that comes from Europe that is rooted in socialist thought, for example. However even within the American tradition of libertarianism(probably better called classical liberalism)there is plenty of diversity. Paul is largely a social conservative and states rights guy. Neither of these positions are neccessary to libertarianism.(cont)
For example Gary Johnson is very much a social liberal, and opposes Paul on almost all of his social policy, and is not a states rights guy when it comes to those social positions like abortion and gay rights. Of course when it comes to economic policy there is less room for diversity in classical liberalism that comes from a consistent value set of individual liberty, and non-aggression, applied to capitalist conditions. Even with this however there is room for disagreement.
Johnson is not a gold bug like Paul is, and has admitted that such a standard has its flaws and is impractical to adopt. Anarcho-capitalism(whatever you may think about it) also is very much different than what Paul proposes, and is considered to be under the broad term of libertarianism in the United States.
It was because of the McCain-Feingold bill as well as Bush's "liberal" spending that I quit the Republican party. But now that we have in the White House an anti-American socialist toppling our economy and threatening fascism in the guise of a Big-Brotherish wellfare state, I am beginning to miss old "W".
Republicans hold this man a hero and intelligent as he is and I am willing to bet a month salary if this man ran and won presidency he would be cut down as quick or quicker than Obama! Just a thought.
How are you so sure about my success?... I've listened to the man & read his works - even "Black Education: Myths and Tragedies" (1972). His work is consistent with that of an ideologue... I'll watch Intellectuals in Society - it beats arguing on the d*** internet...
@cooljeb3 Actually I think arguing on the internet is pretty fun. LOL Nothing wrong with spirited debate, among minds that we normally might not get to interact with.
At best, Sowell is merely a useless contrarian. However, unlike an innocuous provocateur, Sowell is the epitome of a bewildering ideologue. He's the worse type of agent of the state. Clearly, the man is extremely intelligent, yet in all of his years as a political and social critic his most "valuable contributions" have been working to justify the policies of the right wing...
Unlike fair-minded original thinkers, his critiques are simply one-sided. Even hacks can be smart.
@cooljeb3 So I guess it will be you sitting as the judge on this? I don't view him as attempting to "justify" policies of the right wing. He's trying to explain it to hacks such as yourself. =) So when you judge what someone's "valuable contributions" are. Ask yourself , "Why have they been so much more successful then I?". That's a good question to ask, before calling someone a hack. You should watch the video about Intellectuals in Society.
This is bulls**t. Bush is the one who allowed 9/11 to happen. And used it as an opportunity to line the pockets of his friends (Blackwater, Halliburton, Goldman Sachs, etc.)
I guess this is good money to be made telling the Tea Party idots what they want to hear. Sarah Palin 2012! Another great inttlectual!
"President Bush's number one acheivement was...to protect its citizens." Yeah, except for 9/11 Katrina, and sending thousands of American troops to their deaths in wars that have served to stimulate Al Qaeda throughout the world, he did a bang-up job. And Sowell is supposed to be a critic of government? I simply cannot fathom why anyone would take him seriously.
Thomas Sowell is nothing but a useless uncle tom that still thinks he's on the plantation..He even defended the four cops that killed Amandu Diallo in fucking cold blood so uncle thomas sowell can suck my big dick...By the way , 911 was an inside job so why didn't Bush protect us from that..???..And Bush did lie about Iraq....among other things
Can you dispute the evidence that 911 was an inside job you dickhead..??..Can you answer all the unanswerwed questions surrounding 911..??? Go to "patriots question 911" and read about why even members of the 911 commission have their doubts about what happened that day...In other words do some research beofre you open your mouth again and prove to the world how stupid you are...fucking idiot...
You didn't answer the question asshole...CAN YOU DISPUTE THE EVIDENCE THAT 911 WAS AN INSIDE JOB..?? ..Can you answer ALL the unanswered questions surrounding 911...?? And why would members of the 911 commission have doubts about the official bullshit version of 911...?? In other words SO SOME RESEARCH BEOFRE YOU PROVE TO THE WORLD HAVE STUPID YOU ARE.....you stupid ass...and did you go to the site .."Patriots question 911"...?? If not do it asap...is that clear..??
No, jackass, I didn't visit that website and I don't plan to. Being "patriots" doesn't give them any more credibility than all the other delusional morons like yourself. Now stop messaging me, I already had to block your insane private messages, you lunatic. Fuck off.
That only proves you stupidity you dickhead...and I really don't give a fuck about your private messages since if was your punk ass that sent me a meassage first...And since you don't have the guts to go to the site I guess I'll have ti educate your stupid ass antway...Here's a few quotes from the "patriots" that have done more for this then your little dick punk ass....
Major General Albert Stubblebine, U.S. Army
"Well, for one thing, if you look at the hole that was made in the Pentagon"
"the nose penetrated far enough so that there should have been wing marks on the walls of the Pentagon. I have been unable to find those wing marks. So where were they? Did this vessel -- vehicle, or whatever it was -- have wings? Apparently not, because if it had had wings, they would have made marks on the side of the Pentagon."
Col. Ronald D. Ray, U.S. Marine Corps: I'm astounded that the conspiracy theory advanced by the administration could in fact be true and the evidence does not seem to suggest that's accurate, he said."
"A lot of these pieces of information, taken together, prove that the official story, the official conspiracy theory of 9/11 is a bunch of hogwash. Its impossible. Theres a second group of facts having to do with the cover up. Taken together these things prove that high levels of our government dont want us to know what happened and whos responsible.
"As painful and heartbreaking as was the loss of innocent lives and the lingering health problems of thousands more, a most troublesome and nightmarish probability remains that so many Americans appear to be involved in the most heinous conspiracy in our country's history."
"There's a very specific glide path that comes in for planes to land at [Reagan] National Airport [one mile from the Pentagon]. And you know whether it's somebody using a different transponder but even a plane any plane, a military plane with a transponder going -- that was flying that low into Washington, a big plane like that should have set off alarm bells."
Can you dispute any of these quotes or are you just too fucking stupid to use a little hinesty and common sense..????.Here's a few more quotes from patriots that actually give a fuck about their country...
"The so-called terrorist attack was in fact a superbly executed military operation carried out against the USA, requiring the utmost professional military skill in command, communications and control. It was flawless in timing, in the choice of selected aircraft to be used as guided missiles and in the coordinated delivery of those missiles to their pre-selected targets."
"It has been used to justify all manners of measures to legalize repression at home and as a pretext for behaving as an aggressive empire abroad. Until we demand an independent, honest, and thorough investigation and accountability for those whose action and inaction led to those events and the cover-up, our republic and our Constitution remain in the gravest danger.
Lt. Col. Karen U. Kwiatkowski, PhD, U.S. Air Force
"It is as a scientist that I have the most trouble with the official government conspiracy theory, mainly because it does not satisfy the rules of probability or physics. The collapses of the World Trade Center buildings clearly violate the laws of probability and physics."
"After 4+ years of research since retirement in 2002, I am 100% convinced that the attacks of September 11, 2001 were planned, organized, and committed by treasonous perpetrators that have infiltrated the highest levels of our government. It is now time to take our country back."
And also in all four planes, if you remember, none of the planes ever switched on their transponder to the hijack code. There's a very, very simple code that you put in if you suspect that your plane is being hijacked. It takes literally just a split-second for you to put your hand down on the center console and flip it over. And not one of the four planes ever transponded a hijack code, which is most, most unusual.
911 was 8 and a half years ago you fucking idiot.....have you researched the unanswered questions surrounding 911 ...questions that were asked by people in the GOP , in government , the military , law enforcement , firemen , the science community and everyday people with a little common sense...do some research on the subject and stop acting like a bitch...
Wait a sec, its niggers (not black people, i am talking about niggers here) like you who want all power to go to goverment, so "gobment" can rob and give handouts to welfare mamas shitting out kinds of different fathers.
--
So you ended up with a tyrannical allpowerfull, commie/fascist goverment? Niggers and libtards voted for it lock stock and barrel!!
you still didn't address the issue of 911 being an inside ,the lies about the war in Iraq, the two stolen elections..and last but not least the stupid policies that fucked uo the economy....You need to stay in whatever "eu-rape-pee-on" shit hole you're in and leave the conversion to grown ups...
Maybe Niggers cant read well, 911 is not relevant as it is all speculation, i dont speculate because i am not a nigger, What i DO know is, even if it is true , that niggers like you give power to a selected few so they can redistribute wealth through legalized stealing (tax) and handout, but guess what, there is no honor amongst thieves. 911(if it is true) is due to parasites like you who destroyed your own freedoms and created tyranny because of your racial hatreds against anything not black
You're not making any sense...Over 3,000innocent people were kill on 911...doesn't that bother you..?? Or is it "ok" because the right wing did it..?? You are so fucking stupid and guess what Adolf...I'm done giving you any more free lessons on common sense and wisdom..Have a good time with the farm animals and tell your fellow KKK members that it's my foot that's imprinted on your punk ass....
@leonidas512 It is rumored that hurricane katrina was created by the infamous haarp weapon - which was created and sold to the US goverment in the early 1900s - nicola tesla - was the known engineer/scientist who sold the paton i think - haati was also a target - another black populated area - now the US is there to save the day(nationbuilding) for there own strategic purposes/oil,location for military jumpoff strike points should be considered if you think with logic.
Thanks for the enlightenment swordjones, WOW, so there is actually a "weather machine". And the USA has this tech since the 1900? One would wonder why such a weapon wasnt used against the japanese navel fleet in Midway! Oh, i know why....cause IT DOESNT EXIST!!
You dont have to believe me - i could care less - LOOK IT UP - i get it you love your goverment and all the hooplah is just conpiracy after conpiracy - none of it is true - until something you care about is effected by things of this nature then maybe you will use your brain to uncover the facts untill then - ignorance is bliss! enjoy
Well i dont love my goverment (or any goverment), where did you get idea? As a phycisist (sorry for spelling, i am Belgium) i tend to know a few things about Tesla. Now you have the freedom to drink the coolaid and call everybody a fascist who doesnt believe in weathermachines. I would just keep my opinion to myself and sell tin-foil hats!
I really dislike that attitude that blacks are less than whites, and therefore must be pigeonholed into a category, and remain there without thought. This is the racism of the left that holds blacks back to the degree that they accept this limiting categorization.
I love idiot liberals who throw around the term 'neocon' as a broad, general derrogative, without the slightest idea what they're really talking about. I guess they just figure it sounds good and makes them look smart when they try to wax pedantic and educate the rest of us.
Yes, precisely. Any jew who dares espouse conservative theory contrary to the common jewish political sentiment in America is labeled a 'neocon'. They know nothing of the actual neoconservative movement, with which I myself proudly identify.
They're the same as the 9/11 truthers, that is, at the core of their argument is a deep resentment for Jews, whom they see as the architects for all worldly conflict.
You do have to admit though, Jews have had a strong influence over neoconservative ideology. It was frickin invented by a Jew for crying-out-loud (Leo Strauss)!
Absolutely, I won't deny that Jews (like Norman Podhoretz and Irving Kristol) are at the forefront of the neoconservative movement (although it's untrue that Strauss 'invented' the ideology). But there are LOTS of conservative Jews who don't at all identify with neoconservatism or its aims.
necon= fake conservatives, try that "it beez the jews" shit somewhere else nothing to do with jews, personlly i like jews like Royhbard, Mises and Ayaan Rhand
Libertarians Abolishing slavery (Earl gray in 1833) Hey another cult.
--
So now libertarians are anti-jew aswell? Are you on drugs or just a lib-tard?
-
You talk like a muslim ...,argueing that being against forced marriages is the same as being againts all kinds of marriages, nothing is further from the truth.
--
The Swiss have a near libertarian sociaty , i would not call them pacifist, that dumb!
--
Disclamer for typos, i am not native English, i live in Europe!
In america libertarians seem to be pro slavery, they certainly are anti black, (see ron paul's racist newsletters) as for me being a Muslim, did your mother drop you on the head as a child?
Sounds like you need to rethink your analysis a bit. Libertarians(at least ones that really do hold to the values of libertarianism)cannot be racists anymore than someone who holds to racist sentiments can be libertarian. Libertarianism is not a racist ideology--far from it.and anyone who stands for racism, slavery and segregation stands against libertarianism regardless of what they might claim.
You also make the mistake of equating libertarianism to individuals (cont)
He can't even stay consistent for a column. He defends warrantless wiretapping but complains about campaign finance reform infringing on free speech. When you give the government the power to do what you like, you also give it the power to do what you don't like. Dr. Sowell doesn't seem to understand that there's no free lunch.
Great job, Dr. Sowell is a great man. I have a link that shows videos of EVERY leading democrat and how their positions changed for political gain! If anyone wants it let me know, its the best ive ever seen. It even has a Newsweek quote from 1998 linking Saddam to Bin laden!
Even if the reasons to go to war in Iraq are deemed justified by history, Sowell still makes an egregious error by failing to acknowledge how utterly mismanaged the war was. It is unfortunate to see this type of partisan cherry picking from a mind like Thomas Sowell's.
Hannel19- you just prove that you don't actually read or listen to anything before commenting. Not sure how this is "the stupidest video ever". Its only fitting that you immediately followed with "Why is this under Thomas Sowell?" I think that makes your comment the stupidest comment ever, doesn't it?
Regardless of what you think about, Guantanamo bay, ObsTheGreat, would you really want to befriend any of those prisoners? The greater threat is from wannabe Dhimmis.
Uncle Tom Sowell said he needs protection. He fuc*** wimp. Bit**.

No immediacy is present ragarding any info they might have, or we'd put them through enhance interrogation as well.
"why we dont torture known gang members that commit terrorism in small communities throughout the usa daily?Do you know why we dont do that?"
Since non of these assholes are Geneva Convention protected and again there is no pressing desire to have their info, we let them rot!

SPQRomantic 10 months ago
@SPQRomantic
It is also mindless reflexive; Sowell after all is a Korean war draftee, he didn't dodge his obligations.
periechontology 9 months ago
This just goes to show, a lot of intelligent words don't make an intelligent arguement.
USA is entitled and deserves the government it has. The only problem is it's dragging us all down with it.
oneslifesadream 10 months ago
Whether Saddam posed an immediate threat is another question, but the Bush Administration clearly underestimated the number of troops and occupation time needed to reinvent Iraq. Even Sowell has to admit that this failure proved disastrous until the Surge kicked in.
TRZbebop675 1 year ago

Pervyable 1 year ago
@Pervyable Of all the libertarians I have ever met, only a handful fit your description of what they are supposed to be, and the rest are mindless cult followers of lew rockwell and ron paul. That being granted, that handful have very little relevant to add to any sane policy discussion, foreign or domestic.
I suppose I could ask "what kind of libertarian" there are pro and anti immigration libertarians, and there are pro and anti federal reserve libertarians.
GaiusIuliusTaberna 1 year ago
@Pervyable lol ok so try to differ from pauls positions while maintaining a libertarian framework. I triple dog dare you. Words have meaning.
qualityrkc 1 month ago
@qualityrkc
Pervyable 2 weeks ago
@qualityrkc
Pervyable 2 weeks ago
@qualityrkc
Johnson is not a gold bug like Paul is, and has admitted that such a standard has its flaws and is impractical to adopt. Anarcho-capitalism(whatever you may think about it) also is very much different than what Paul proposes, and is considered to be under the broad term of libertarianism in the United States.
Pervyable 2 weeks ago
It was because of the McCain-Feingold bill as well as Bush's "liberal" spending that I quit the Republican party. But now that we have in the White House an anti-American socialist toppling our economy and threatening fascism in the guise of a Big-Brotherish wellfare state, I am beginning to miss old "W".

How are you so sure about my success?... I've listened to the man & read his works - even "Black Education: Myths and Tragedies" (1972). His work is consistent with that of an ideologue... I'll watch Intellectuals in Society - it beats arguing on the d*** internet...
cooljeb3 1 year ago
@cooljeb3 Actually I think arguing on the internet is pretty fun. LOL Nothing wrong with spirited debate, among minds that we normally might not get to interact with.
wildernessshouter 1 year ago
At best, Sowell is merely a useless contrarian. However, unlike an innocuous provocateur, Sowell is the epitome of a bewildering ideologue. He's the worse type of agent of the state. Clearly, the man is extremely intelligent, yet in all of his years as a political and social critic his most "valuable contributions" have been working to justify the policies of the right wing...
Unlike fair-minded original thinkers, his critiques are simply one-sided. Even hacks can be smart.
cooljeb3 1 year ago
@cooljeb3 So I guess it will be you sitting as the judge on this? I don't view him as attempting to "justify" policies of the right wing. He's trying to explain it to hacks such as yourself. =) So when you judge what someone's "valuable contributions" are. Ask yourself , "Why have they been so much more successful then I?". That's a good question to ask, before calling someone a hack. You should watch the video about Intellectuals in Society.

Major General Albert Stubblebine, U.S. Army
"Well, for one thing, if you look at the hole that was made in the Pentagon"
freein2339 2 years ago
General Stubblebine:
"the nose penetrated far enough so that there should have been wing marks on the walls of the Pentagon. I have been unable to find those wing marks. So where were they? Did this vessel -- vehicle, or whatever it was -- have wings? Apparently not, because if it had had wings, they would have made marks on the side of the Pentagon."

"A lot of these pieces of information, taken together, prove that the official story, the official conspiracy theory of 9/11 is a bunch of hogwash. Its impossible. Theres a second group of facts having to do with the cover up. Taken together these things prove that high levels of our government dont want us to know what happened and whos responsible.
freein2339 2 years ago
Col. George Nelson, MBA, U.S. Air Force:
"As painful and heartbreaking as was the loss of innocent lives and the lingering health problems of thousands more, a most troublesome and nightmarish probability remains that so many Americans appear to be involved in the most heinous conspiracy in our country's history."

Col. Ann Wright, U.S. Army:
"There's a very specific glide path that comes in for planes to land at [Reagan] National Airport [one mile from the Pentagon]. And you know whether it's somebody using a different transponder but even a plane any plane, a military plane with a transponder going -- that was flying that low into Washington, a big plane like that should have set off alarm bells."

freein2339 2 years ago
Col. Donn de Grand-Pre, U.S. Army:
"The so-called terrorist attack was in fact a superbly executed military operation carried out against the USA, requiring the utmost professional military skill in command, communications and control. It was flawless in timing, in the choice of selected aircraft to be used as guided missiles and in the coordinated delivery of those missiles to their pre-selected targets."
freein2339 2 years ago
Lt. Col. Shelton F. Lankford, U.S. Marine Corps
"It has been used to justify all manners of measures to legalize repression at home and as a pretext for behaving as an aggressive empire abroad. Until we demand an independent, honest, and thorough investigation and accountability for those whose action and inaction led to those events and the cover-up, our republic and our Constitution remain in the gravest danger.
freein2339 2 years ago
Lt. Col. Karen U. Kwiatkowski, PhD, U.S. Air Force
"It is as a scientist that I have the most trouble with the official government conspiracy theory, mainly because it does not satisfy the rules of probability or physics. The collapses of the World Trade Center buildings clearly violate the laws of probability and physics."
freein2339 2 years ago
Lt. Col. Guy S. Razer
"After 4+ years of research since retirement in 2002, I am 100% convinced that the attacks of September 11, 2001 were planned, organized, and committed by treasonous perpetrators that have infiltrated the highest levels of our government. It is now time to take our country back."
freein2339 2 years ago
Commander Ted Muga, U.S. Navy:
And also in all four planes, if you remember, none of the planes ever switched on their transponder to the hijack code. There's a very, very simple code that you put in if you suspect that your plane is being hijacked. It takes literally just a split-second for you to put your hand down on the center console and flip it over. And not one of the four planes ever transponded a hijack code, which is most, most unusual.

Neocon = left wing anti Semitic code for Jews.
GaiusIuliusTaberna 2 years ago
Yes, precisely. Any jew who dares espouse conservative theory contrary to the common jewish political sentiment in America is labeled a 'neocon'. They know nothing of the actual neoconservative movement, with which I myself proudly identify.
They're the same as the 9/11 truthers, that is, at the core of their argument is a deep resentment for Jews, whom they see as the architects for all worldly conflict.
LuckyPierre78 2 years ago
You do have to admit though, Jews have had a strong influence over neoconservative ideology. It was frickin invented by a Jew for crying-out-loud (Leo Strauss)!
jhg123456 2 years ago
Absolutely, I won't deny that Jews (like Norman Podhoretz and Irving Kristol) are at the forefront of the neoconservative movement (although it's untrue that Strauss 'invented' the ideology). But there are LOTS of conservative Jews who don't at all identify with neoconservatism or its aims.
