they kind of had to turn him--so many people were liking him that he was having problems being over as a heel, thus the change. I liked himn as a heel better. But by the late 80s the WWF fans startred liking heels better and they had to change the whole premise. At an arena the heel was being cheered and the face booed--McMahon said he told somone (probably Monsoon) "This isn't working anymore!"
