Interrupting the education process, school fires are very disruptive. The only time during my schooling a fire evacuation turned out to be the real thing and not a drill came during the 1980-81 school year when I was a fourth grader. With smoke billowing, one of the white satellite trailers apart from the main building was fully involved. The blaze reportedly started in a closet. Unrelated: Guilford County Sheriff B.J. all i hear in my area is either code 3 or continuous. i'd like to hear alarms in fast code 3 (.4 sec on, .4 sec off, .4 sec on, .4 sec off, .4 sec on, 1.2 sec off), the alarm pattern "one short pulse, pause, 5 short pulses, pause (heard that in another video)" or 84bpm march time

one of our idiot teachers forgot to check the gas was off in the science lab. the whole of the science block filled with toxic gas and we had to evacuate the building :L

all the teachers were like totally stressing out, we were all just bummed out that we didnt get to go home. and then they let us go and sit in the hall while they drained the building of gas, and because our schools built over coal mines, health violation. it just shows how far england will go to keep you in school :(

last year at my school the light in the janitor's closet shorted out and caught the ceiling tiles on fire. so when the fire department came they couldn't unlock the door to get in. so they broke the door. now that room is not in use and i'm pretty sure it hasn't been fixed. but there's a big wooden board where the door used to be.

Now the school fire alarm system is disabled(illegal, but they like it(no noises)).

@RChris173 There's usually small round smoke detectors on the ceiling in the halls which just detect smoke and don't make noise usually, those are wired to the fire horns and strobes in the halls. Once just 1 (it only takes 1) detects smoke it triggers the other alarms throughout the building

the fire alarm panel, if there is a real fire like this one, gets set off it should alert the local fire department. why did that lady have to call the FD if the panel is always supposed to alert the FD automatically?

Different places...different procedures, and to my understanding the way it works here is that if there is a fire alarm (by remote sensor or pull station,whatever) they dispatch someone to check the area to validate fire. If validated, fire department is called. I'm not 100% sure about this, but that how I interpreted it there.

Some places, like at University of Florida, call the fire department automatically (or the panel dials out) when an alarm sounds. I've seen that happen here a lot.

Hmm, thats odd. With that method it seems like it would sacrifice alot of time. At my school, when a sensor or pull station is tripped, it alerts the FD instantly. We have a whole layout of our school right by the front entrance that has each sensor and detector marked with an LED. This way the firemen can go straight to the source

There is a map with various LEDs in the front also at the school, but I don't know 100% how the fire procedure works at the school. Maybe it still alerts the fire department anyway and they just wanted to make sure...I don't know honestly.

its annunicated everytime a campus wide message is relayed. it started doing that ever since they updated the software on the sound system last year.

I didn't know what to call it so I called it a "campus wide message"... The technical term is a "public address" with an acryonym: "PA". The one at my school is relatively new and is able to receive software updates...This one happens to have a very annoying beep to alert everyone that a message is about to begin. I suppose so people quiet down and listen rather than miss the first part of the message because everyone was too loud.

yes...it's called an annunciator...basically the central computer for the fire system.

no, actually, an annunciator is like a remote panel that you can acces from key locations in the building.

yes it does...it would be against fire code and several laws if it didn't...they silenced the alarm after it went off until someone could verify there was a fire. Once verified, the system was alarmed again and you can hear that in the part 2 of this video.

There is a delay between when I started recording this video so it ends quickly...I don't know why they didn't let it run longer...there are a lot of incompetent people in my school.
