when I was a child a priest told me in front of my classmates that the animals had no soul and couldn't continue after death, and I really felt very bad for a while. fucking close mind. I mean, they believe in a being who never has spoken and they create rules imposed for no one, simply makes no sense. even that way  I have faith that even those animals can get to "heaven" before those priests without feelings.

This story just yanks at my heartstrings!! Its a happy/sad story. We have a bear that would have been killed in the wild. We have a devoted father taking care of this gift from god. We have the terrible tragedy of his human father passing from a heart attack, then finally the unexpected passing of knut.

I think what gets me the most is the way he died. It was really sad to watch him uncontrollably fall in the water and drown. I watched the video and prayed somehow he fell onto the rocks
