"Sense" of a triple-p -is- rudimental: So you can do anything. On 1 drum it doesn't seem a big deal, but for total freedom, a triple-p's 1 more tool: Ex: A big single stroke on your snare for 3 counts punctuated with a double hit on your right cymbal on the 4th, then the same w/ the double hit on your left cymbal, would be a triple-p. If you've practiced other rudiments you'll play this 'ok' on the spot, but its sharper w/the assurance of having practiced the specific rudiment.
you dont necessarly need it, one of my favs are grohl and i havent heard a single double or 32 stroke from him ever..... great vid though, im a big fan of Morgan Agren too : )
Hey, very nice job on the drums and beyond of that, you are very good as a teacher. I realy appreciate this quality contents on youtube. So thank you very much for the lessons, they are helping me with my learning. Cheers!
I really liked the video, those double paradiddles were crazy lol. The end demo of everything together was cool. Awesome man, ill subscribe and keep watching.
Dude your an absolute legend that was awesome. Cheers man! rudements everyday for me now until i can kick the shit out of my kit like you man. keep up the good work bro.
Whats up bro great lessons man.I played all threw the 90s then stoped ,Slowly gettting back into it .After watching your lessons ,I went and got my kit setup .
Yea man, you know what's up! You can use rudiments for all sorts of things, plus you can put them together to make "hybrid" rudiments and tear them apart and do all kinds of stuff. It's all about the freedom to create.
that's true.. It's all about your expression on the drumset.. Oh and the paradiddle rudiment is actually written with the accents, because technically, I think, the only way to execute them very fast is by applying the moeller technique (which is based on the accents), but also, as you say, it's important to practice paradiddles without the accentuation.
Yea man, you make some good points. I think the accent is there to show you the first note on each paradiddle for easy learning. You don't need the moeller technique to play them fast though, just good practice.
Dude, out of all the drum teachers on youtube, your honestly the best one cause you take the time to teach and you go over things slowly and seem like you care. Your rudiments are insane. Ive been playing for 6 years and Ive got a lot of them down. And your kit sounds awesome, message me back and tell me what it consist of
I use a DW Kit, 8" 10" & 13" toms with a 20" kick on this video with a 13x7 acrylic pork pie snare drum. The cymbals are Zildjian 14" New Beat hi-hats and a Zildjian 20" Ping Ride.
Excellent lesson! But there must be something I'm missing! Now I have these rudiments down, but i did recognize some technique I do have to work on. What i seem to have a problem with is the combinations you put together around the kit with those rudiments! Is there anything would recommend that I could work on to make the rudiments and combinations to sound musical as well as create nice fills?
Well, it takes practice to put them together. Try to stay in time and start slow. What you should do is work on playing a single rudiment around the drum set. Get it to the point you are comfortable playing around the kit. Then work on another rudiment around the kit and so on. You'll eventually be able to play this stuff without even thinking about it! Just takes a lot of practicing the right things, and a lot of effort and patience. Keep it up!
Great series, dude. You're videos are really good, on of the few I've subscribed to. They're accesible, but also in-depth, and always useful. Keep it up and have a nice day!
hey, nice doubles on the snare. I heard it is cool to accent every 2nd stroke of doubles whenever you play them, doesn't matter whether on the snare, hihat or toms: it keeps them fluently, nice and even.
Absolutely, it's a good exercise man! It really helps to build control more than anything, and then you can work on evenness of rolls and also stick heights.
you got me back on the kit after years of the same boring B.S..
