the number 1 accomplishment when modeling in my opinion is to make the audience feel as though they are a part of the animation. when i watched this, that's exactly what happened to me, I melted. You've mesmerized me, so I greatly congradulate you :) i felt like i was really flying through the spaceship, like Boreas was going to fly up and stab me, you're very impressive :D
Well i guess it depends on your level of skill and the demands, I'm from Australia, the industry is much smaller here than US.
It also depends on what you want to do, 3D doesn't necessarily involve modeling and texturing. There are also jobs for animators that doesn't require modelling/texturing.
Though it's probably easier or good idea to know how to do on all of them, but still pick on a specialty
very good job, your use of textures have given me an idea of what im going to use in my portfolio to get into the university im transferring to. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment. The texture I used for this video is simply a paint bucket job and using the color of light-cream (something like that). If you're going for realistic people-look. You can try and google SSS (sub surface scattering) which will give you the realistic result of human skin
I haven't made any tutorial yet, since I don't think I'm at that level yet :). Boreas is actually the first character I created in 3D. I followed an online Maya tutorial called "Joan of Ark", you can try googling (google: maya joan of ark tutorial)it to find it, or you can PM me.
The tutorial is very good if you can follow it. Hope that helps :)
Not bad bro, I can see these were made with special care, top of the line. I myself will be setting up my 3D and arts portfolio too.

@kalathwarna I used Autodesk maya 2008 to create Boreas, all rendered and lighted with the software.
I didn't do much to create those shadows, merely using the default light settings and 'final gathering' settings. Hope that helped :)
