Great song. A lot of people are missing the point of atheism. Everyone has their own reasons of not believing in god. I for one don't believe because it is totally illogical and so far fetched that I feel as though it is ludicrous to believe in a god. Religion has come to a point where it's about being better the someone else rather than just being a good person. In most situations this is what embodies an atheist. Knowledge and the respect for our fellow man/women is all that ultimately matter

@arollman What does it matter what happens to me, the individual, after I die? It's not about me, it's about something greater. It's about giving back as much as I can while I'm alive to help ensure that not only humanity, but life as a whole continues to persist and persevere so that when I'm gone, the next generation of lifeforms, be they human or otherwise, can rise up and take their turn to experience how wondrous it it to exist.

That's the answer.

@arollman I spent 2 hours praying that the torment and pain I was experiencing would stop, but the rape continued and I lost my virginity to someone who did not care about my purity ring. After that moment I realized that there was either no god, or there was a sick god who doesn't give a shit about anyone. Now I understand how illogical it is to believe in a god at all. Crimes are not "mysterious ways" to punish us for things we have done. They are just crimes.

@xjedixwarriorx there is a god, i had the same experince once..... i wouldn't blame you for thinking god doesn't exsit cause i thought the same thing once. but he does, it's just that a fallen angel was by the person who raped you. the fallen angel made him do that. your guardian angel was trying to pretect you but the fallen angel must have been more powerfull, that's what satin does. but just remember there is a god and he is doing everthing in his power to help.

I know a person who became a believer when she was raped, only to lose faith when something bad happened to her sister.

The human mind is odd sometimes.

While I can't really know what it was like for her, I can give it a guess...it keeps me up with a creepy, sick, and sorry feeling, but these situations should have nothing to do with whether or not one believes any religion.

They're all nonsensical in far greater ways than allowing rape.

if God truly is powerful and all knowing, why can't he just make us sinless. why would he then need a sacrifice to sooth his wrath?

It would seem our perfections are made to worship him. thinking that we owe him but he's the one that made us imperfect. Its like he just pushed things to make us owe him. Is that the loving god the christians praised so? he framed us knowing that we would "sin".
